@DJ Esoterica! I don't want to wait for our lives to be over, I want to know right now what will it be. I don't want to wait for our lives to be over, Will it be yes or will it be sorry? #NameThatShow!? Can’t wait for your Theme Song Special!
Esoterica (host) 1:28:26 PM
i know it, but spacing!!!

Now, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum, What might be right for you, may not be right for some.
ѕтєνιє ρ 1:31:45 PM
does WPRB have a relyric'd version of WKRP theme song?
Mike Tropiano 1:32:01 PM
Been listening and enjoying your show for a long time, one of my faves. Thanks so much.
Mike Tropiano 1:32:13 PM
That would be Vegas?
Esoterica (host) 1:32:30 PM

See the notes you asked fer in the playlist, Stevie P?
Brian D 1:35:16 PM
I think that station id / show intro was custom made for Pethie. Singer mentions her by name and her show title in the parody lyrics
David Shortell 1:36:02 PM
Joe Belock did an excellent memorial show for Barrett Strong last week: https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/124331
ѕтєνιє ρ 1:36:55 PM
mr.m, yes. thankyou so much
Brian D 1:37:15 PM
I love lo fi parodies like that where someone just sings over top of the real song in the background ! You can still hear them say WKRP and Cincinnati ha.. home made fun
David Shortell 1:39:13 PM
Nobody knows the words to WKRP’s closing theme. It was intended to be gibberish.
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 1:39:41 PM
WPRB’s DJ Readie Righteous did a TopNotch tribute to BARRETT STRONG. Included THE SLITS ‘I Heard It Through The Grapevine’! A tribute without it, is a FAIL
Brian D 1:40:19 PM
Goodnight Mr Walters! (Grumble grumble mmm hmmnn....)

No, you are perfect, Eso. I was just hearing my Mom's West Philly pronounciation in my mind. She used to call the football team the IGGLES.

Mike Tropiano 1:58:03 PM
Off to class, maybe I'll be able to put PRB on and let the students listen while they work. Have a Geat Day everyone!....I remember, as a small child, at night with a drive with my father, hearing Melanie's Brand New Key earworm.

I saw Melanie at Monmouth University a few years back. It’s a familiar town to her; she played at the Ink Well before she became famous. That place closed down last year, followed shortly by the Brighton Bar’s demolition.

Okay! The National (in addition to being an intriguing and talented ensemble) has succeeded: I'm not only interested in their album First Two Pages of Frankenstein, but I must take down my copy of the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley novel and see exactly what ARE the first two pages!
Esoterica (host) 2:18:48 PM
me, too, richard!
Richard from Rocky Hill 2:20:48 PM
I do well recall the latter pages are something of a philosophical slog with the Creature and Creator debating birth, life, God, free will, and especially why-was-I-born?
David Shortell 2:22:10 PM
I never read Mary’s 2nd best known book, “The Last Man”, about a pandemic that wipes out most of humanity.
Francis 2:22:12 PM

Richard from Rocky Hill 2:26:17 PM
@ David Shortell Hey, mega thanks for reminding me about "The Last Man." I'll check it out (either of my local public library or via a Labyrinth Books buy. As i was saying, Where else but through WPRB-FM would we ...?

I’ve seen both Gregg Turner and the Angry Samoans play at the Brighton Bar, albeit separately–there’s a lot of hate between the founders! The modern version’s only founders are Bill Vockeroth and a lethargic Mike Saunders. At both recent shows I saw, they covered Ming Tea’s “BBC” from the end credits of “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery“. I can’t find that song in the Angry Samoans’ discography though.
Rofflestomp 2:45:11 PM
I have had some really, really good Samoan friends. Jolly as fuck, but never ever piss them off. They are as beautiful as giants come..
Esoterica (host) 2:46:08 PM

Great show! I slipped in a wee late for this afternoon's session, Dr. DJE. However, here is today's true story: the sun emerged from behind the clouds just as the Sonic Bloom emerged from my speakers! Perfect! Now, sadly, the light is fading as is this week's Bloom!
