Trippunithura Narayana Krishnan (6 October 1928 in Kerala – 2 November 2020) was one of the greatest Carnatic violinists of recent times. He learnt mainly from his father, A. Narayana. Besides accompanying major vocalists, he had a thriving career as a soloist.

Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande was born in Mumbai in 1960. has been learning music in the Jaipur-Atrauli style from her mother Manik Bhide, a disciple of Kishori Amonkar. She also holds a Master's degree in Microbiology and earned a doctorate in Biochemistry.

Madurai Thirumalai Nambi Seshagopalan was born on 5 September 1948 in Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu. He first learnt under his mother, and later under Ramanathapuram C. S. Sankarasivan.

Buddhadev Das Gupta (1 February 1933 – 15 January 2018) was a sarod player, a disciple of Radhika Mohan Maitra. His musical career was limited due his job as a mechanical engineer. Only after retirement was he able to devote his full attention to music. (His younger brother is vocalist Dilshad Khan).

Shweta Jhaveri sings in the Mewati gharana, and was a student of Pandit Jasraj.

Damal Krishnaswamy Pattammal (1919-2009) popularly known as D. K. Pattammal or DKP, was a contemporary of M. S. Subbulakshmi and M. L. Vasanthakumari, who all initiated the entry of women into mainstream Carnatic Music.

Mysore Venkatesha Doreswamy Iyengar (1920-1997) was one of the leading exponents of the veena, and was a disciple of Veena Venkatagiriyappa.

This Tillana was composed by Mysore Veena Sheshanna (1852-1926), considered the originator of what is now the known as the Mysore style of playing.

Hariprasad Chaurasia was born in 1938 in Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. He had to learn music without his father's knowledge, as his father wanted him to become a wrestler. He studied flute under Bholanath Prasanna of Varanasi, and later he he received guidance from Annapurna Devi.

Semmangudi Radhakrishna Srinivasa Iyer (1908 – 2003) received training from his cousin Semmangudi Narayanaswamy Iyer, Thiruvadaimaruthur Sakharama Rao, Narayanaswamy Iyer and Maharajapuram Viswanatha Iyer.

Padmini Rao learnt sitar from Pramila Dagar, and vocal training from Zia Mohiuddin Dagar, and now is a student of Dr. Prabha Atre (Kirana gharana).
