@Michael. Just sent you a FB friend request. Let's connect through Fb, if that is ok.

"MoonStrike" is incredible! All the compositions in the marathon are amazing!
Christine 𓅓 1:25:27 PM
MoonStrike is really transporting. Another gem from the overflowing pile of treasure that is the Viva 21st Century 24-hour Marathon. Thank you, Marvin!
Susan T. Nelson 1:28:28 PM
So much variety!
Richard from Rocky Hill 1:29:56 PM
@ Michael Hall Every good wish for your new music festivals! I know Indonesia well (through people and also personal travels), and I adore that country. Incidentally, it's important for all to know that Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim nation by population; yet women have full rights; major Hindu and Buddhist temple archeological sites have been carefully restored, and its citizens typically love Americans -- proving that such things are not at all incompatible with Islam.
Michael Hall 1:35:22 PM
@Richard - Very true. I founded the 1st professional orchestra in Indonesia - the Bandung Philharmonic. We commission a new symphonic work from an Indonesia composer for every concert we play. I just returned from Bandung four weeks ago. The music scene in SE Asia is incredibly active.
Clare Shore 1:36:34 PM
Many thanks, Marvin! And thanks to New Orleans for providing the inspiration.
Michael Hall 1:37:03 PM
Congratulations, Clare!!!
Clare Shore 1:37:49 PM

Clare Shore Palate Cleanser, WOW! So many different textures!
Susan T. Nelson 1:44:00 PM
Michael Hal, Loving this delicate piano part. Parts sound gamelan-like to me.
Richard from Rocky Hill 1:47:13 PM
@ Michael Hall I know Bandung very well, a vibrant city but with strong links to Indonesia's historic past. Again, I think it's so important to note that this deeply religious Muslim country also typically welcomes Western-influenced art forms as long as they are respectful of the nation's moral standards.
Clare Shore 1:47:17 PM
Thank you, Susan!
Clare Shore 1:47:52 PM
Loved hearing this piece, Michael!
Michael Hall 1:49:33 PM
@Marvin - Thank You for championing living composers. My heart is filled with joy that you programmed Michelle McQuade Dewhirst's and Sharon Hartanto's pieces. They both deserve so much more attention for their music. Thank you!!!
Michael Hall 1:50:21 PM
@Clare - Thank you! Stay warm down there in FL.
Richard from Rocky Hill 1:50:54 PM
@ Michael Hall And kudos on your performance of the wonderful (while quite different!) Dewhirst and Hartanto compositions.
Michael Hall 1:55:31 PM
@Richard - Thank you! They are both stellar human beings and composers. Best of all, they are great friends.
Michael Hall 1:56:34 PM
@Mrvin - I'm loving this micro-Chicago moment. Both Natasa Bogojevic (current piece) and myself live in Chicago.
Clare Shore 1:58:02 PM
Isn't that the most rewarding part of composing and performing, Michael ... the collaboration?
Clare Shore 1:58:36 PM
Chicago musicians rock!
