| L. Shankar Conversation Song for Everyone ECM Records 1985 L. Shankar (born 26 April 1950) is L. Subramaniam's younger brother. Shankar came to the USA in 1969 and studied ethnomusicology at Wesleyan University, where he met John McLaughlin. They founded the world fusion group "Shakti" in 1985. Shankar has collaborated with just about everybody, lending an "exotic" sound from his custom double neck electric violin. L. Shankar discography Like his brother Subramaniam, he has a well established Indian Classical career, and several solo jazz projects. |

Selvaganesh Maya Remember Shakti - The Believer Universal Music Division Decca Records France 2000 Shakti was one of the earliest world fusion bands, founded by John McLaughlin (guitar), L. Shankar (violin), Zakir Hussain (tabla), and T.H. "Vikku" Vinayakram (ghatam) in 1974. Some twenty years later McLaughlin and Hussain put together another band with the same concept, called "Remember Shakti", including V. Selvaganesh (son of Vikku Vinayakram), U. Srinivas (mandolin), and Shankar Mahadevan (vocals).

He was born into a family steeped in Indian classical music and dance (his mother was the famous Kathak dancer Sitara Devi). Besides his Bollywood career (involved since at least 1989), he collaborates with many jazz musicians. "Bada Boom" is his debut jazz fusion record. |

Abbasi studied guitar at the University of Southern California and at the Manhattan School of Music. Kanyakumari, Rez Abbasi, Carlo De Rosa, Poovalur Sriji & Royal Hartigan) Pi Recordings 2008 Mahanthappa is the son of Indian emigrants to the U.S. He was born on 4 May 1971 in Trieste, Italy as a result of his father's job in academia, but spent most of his life in Boulder, Colorado. But it wasn't until his time at Berklee in the early 90's, when he was introduced to the music of Indian saxophonist Kadri Gopalnath, whose use of a Western instrument in Carnatic music surprised and inspired Mahanthappa. Manthappa is currently the Anthony P. Lee'79 Director of Jazz at Princeton University. |

| Praveen Sparsh Maya Unreserved - EP Praveen Sparsh 2019 Praveen Sparsh is a classically trained mridangam (barrell drum) player. He is also a member of the fusion group Jatayu. On this EP, he collects ambient sounds from various locations, and finds their rhythms around which he improvises on mridangam. |
