A ton of salt, celery juice, seitan, some trace of beet juice for color?

I’ve had mushroom scrapple, but there’s a hole in my heart the shape of a notched slice of pork roll.

Like Impossible (which I love when taking an alternate burger from the usual cow).... the idea of vegan pork roll would be fun to try! But in no way would it be "healthy". And that's the fun

I heard a seamless segue of that Gorillaz track featuring George Benson go right into George's version of Breezin' a few years back on the radio. Love Gabor's version too of Breezin'

I actually was already a vegetarian at the time! It was quite an experience.

Zevon Switching Yard is a great groove. Owes a bit to James Brown "Soul Power" but it is different and they take it in a diff direction

Addie, I can imagine!! A shock to the system? But you know, it's very important to cook the scraplle just right, crispy crispy outside and so nice and smooth inside!

The thing is that scrapple is mostly corn meal and sage. The scraps are a relatively small percentage. And the idea of "using it all head to toe" is an ages old tradition when it comes to critters. Better than wasting

here in maryland, scrapple is a Big Deal

when i visit family on delmarva, i almost always stop at a local butcher shop and get some fresh scrapple

Ok, Larry, I have Old Bay in my pantry as a rule...seasoning, that is...

there is an old bay-like seasoning called Wye Mills that is harder to find but is a local favorite on the shore.

some of my friends think it is sacreligious to use any seasoning except for old bay on crabs, poor close-minded zealots

Penzey's has a blend that is named "Fajita Seasoning" but it does well in other non-Tex Mex applications. I do it with shrimp and it really has more of what I like in a blend and none of what I really do not like about Ol Bay. There is something in Ol Bay that is too much for me... not sure which ingredient it is.

Hmmm, I did a sage / thyme / dill rub on a cod loin the other night...really good

I can also recommend the chili sauce from the Har Har Pickle Food Company (Taiwan) that you can find at the local international grocery, if you're lucky

Wye Mills , MD. I have seen that on the maps and road signs yep. Shellfish with basics and barely seasoned is fine. Let that sweetness shine. I don't even dip crab legs or lobster in butter anymore. And maybe only eat those things once every couple years. There is a great flavor there that does not need much else.

my wife, being an eastern shore native, *must* have fresh crabs at least a couple of times every season

F- refrigerator magnets. My kinda souvenir from a trip is a local hot sauce. Something to put INSIDE the fridge! Not on it!

I had this one shrimp sauce African made and it's sure real hot spicy, made with peppers, thyme, oil and others

i made fermented hot sauce for the first time this summer. it turned out really nice, i got about 5 little bottles of the stuff in my fridge now.

Yep Larry, one of my favorite hot sauce souvenirs of past years was a fermented one from up in New England. So different that tang of the fermented kind

home grown "wild brazil" hot peppers mixed with fresh blueberries and blackberries
