Lizbot (host) 5:03:51 PM
Hi DTO!
Lizbot (host) 5:04:04 PM
How was your holiday? I managed to not get sick somehow
Number 6 5:04:43 PM
Hi stayed healthy too.
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 5:04:59 PM

Hello all
Lizbot (host) 5:07:02 PM
Wow, Dave, that's some record!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:06 PM
Hi Brian D!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:35 PM
@Number 6 - Glad to hear it! My kid sadly got pretty sick, so I might be getting that soon, but so far have managed to avoid it

Number 6 5:08:10 PM
Hey Dave! Care to share your secret?
Lizbot (host) 5:08:12 PM
This part with the electric piano and the staccato "Eleanor Rigby" I love
Lizbot (host) 5:08:43 PM
@DTO - Yeah, are you encased in solid zinc every night a la Goldfinger
Lizbot (host) 5:09:25 PM
@Number 6 - I WISH I had more leftovers! Cornbread and turkey and gravy turned out great this year
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 5:09:32 PM
Clean living, and a positive attitude 🙄
Number 6 5:09:58 PM
I had ham AND turkey!:)

Dave, your keyboard is upside down
Lizbot (host) 5:10:30 PM
@Number 6 - Whoa.
Lizbot (host) 5:10:35 PM
HI Don!
Number 6 5:10:47 PM
Hey Dave, maybe you should write a book.
Number 6 5:11:51 PM
@ Lizbot- I didn't have to do any cooking.
Don Hamp 5:11:53 PM
Maybe not the right place... but am wondering about peoples thoughts on SxSw... I may be in Austin during early March. Still worth it. $680 ?
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 5:12:03 PM
🎹 thanks, Don. That must be why all my music is dissonant.
Brian D 5:12:03 PM

Lizbot (host) 5:12:05 PM
@DTO - ah, I'm too rusted out and filthsome for all that clean living
Lizbot (host) 5:12:55 PM
Am I the only one who thinks of the opening scenes of Crooklyn when I hear this song?
Rob from Maryland 🦀 🇺🇦 🌻 🇮🇷 5:13:36 PM
I love this Staples Singers song (along with Respect Yourself). I know not of Crooklyn
Number 6 5:13:41 PM
I don't think that I saw Crooklyn.
Don Hamp 5:13:53 PM
Yes Lizbot you are special
Lizbot (host) 5:14:13 PM
@Don - I knew it!
Lizbot (host) 5:15:38 PM
@Number 6 - Crooklyn's a pretty solid, mostly autobiographical Spike Lee movie with a great soundtrack
Don Hamp 5:16:09 PM
ah... thanks.
Lizbot (host) 5:17:22 PM
@Number 6 - with Delroy Lindo & Alfie Woodard - pretty great cast. I love the scene with the neighbor and his crappy covers of LA-LA - Means I Love You by the Delfonics and other Philly soul classics
Number 6 5:17:41 PM
I heard of the movie before, I'm sure it's good.
Lizbot (host) 5:18:41 PM
Who Is He (And What Is He to You?) - a predecessor to I Saw you (and Him) Walking In the Rain by Oran "Juice" Jones
Number 6 5:19:32 PM
Anything by Spike Lee is cool.
Lizbot (host) 5:20:22 PM
I'm playing a lot of my kid's favorites right now for her 14th birthday and I love that she grabbed my Bill Withers records a couple years ago and plays them regularly. We were listening to Still Bill on the way to NYC last Wednesday, along with a bunch of the other soul/R&B songs in the first chunk of the show today
Number 6 5:21:34 PM
I remember when we were young we went ape over The Monkeys and other groups of that era.
Lizbot (host) 5:21:38 PM
@Number 6 - Do the Right Thing and Crooklyn are my Spike Lee favorites
Number 6 5:22:35 PM
I'll have to check those movies out.
Lizbot (host) 5:23:10 PM
Is it bad that I'm really really cold right now but my thermostat says it's 70 degrees and I have a thick coat on??
Lizbot (host) 5:23:25 PM
I think I'm headed towards virus town, where my kid currently is mired
Don Hamp 5:24:00 PM
Ah... your watching Kill Bill with your 14 yr old. Do you think that is good idea?
Rob from Maryland 🦀 🇺🇦 🌻 🇮🇷 5:24:42 PM
Lizbot, I hope you're not heading towards virus town. One March a few years ago I went through something similar: 5 days when I felt super cold while working at home; thermostat at 68, thermals on all day and all night
Lizbot (host) 5:24:42 PM
@Don - Who said I watched Kill Bill with my 14 year-old???!
Don Hamp 5:25:09 PM
oh listening to Still Bill Sorry
Lizbot (host) 5:25:57 PM
@Don- I don't even like Kill Bill
Lizbot (host) 5:26:30 PM
Anyway
Don Hamp 5:27:43 PM
Agreed I do not get all the buzz on Quentin T. Hey Am I getting off topic ;-)
jimboo 5:27:53 PM
The kindergarten class I screened Kill Bill for didn't really get it, so I really should have targeted 14 yr olds 😂
Lizbot (host) 5:28:19 PM
@Don - I DO endorse listening to Still Bill with a 14 year-old
Lizbot (host) 5:28:29 PM
Hi jimboo!
jimboo 5:28:33 PM
This show is FIRE btw
Don Hamp 5:28:35 PM
@Jimboo LOL!!
Lizbot (host) 5:29:14 PM
@Jimboo - Thanks!
Lizbot (host) 5:30:24 PM
@Don Hamp - I'm not planning on going to SXSW any time soon, but I will be getting tickets for the online streaming Sundance Film Fest January 2023
Don Hamp 5:31:23 PM
LB Have you ever gone to sxsw?... Anyone?
Don Hamp 5:31:49 PM

Whoa, what a cover!
Lizbot (host) 5:35:01 PM
@jimboo - Ha! Yeah, I want an opportunity to show the kindergarteners in Hattie's school some movies, but I'll settle for having made them some mixes
Lizbot (host) 5:35:07 PM
Hi Addie!!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 5:35:09 PM
Good evening Lizbot, et al!
Lizbot (host) 5:36:05 PM
@Addie - Angelique is so awesome. I took Hattie to see her at McCarter in Princeton last winter. She puts so much energy into her performances. Total dynamo
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 5:36:24 PM
I’m enthralled!
Lizbot (host) 5:37:26 PM
@Addie - Watch for her the next time she tours. She covered Miriam Makeba during the show too
Lizbot (host) 5:37:58 PM
I love that CRUNCHY hand clap in this song
Number 6 5:38:58 PM
What is the sound of 1 hand clapping?
Lizbot (host) 5:40:29 PM
@Addie - Speaking of Miriam...
Lizbot (host) 5:40:43 PM
@Number 6 - hmmmmmm
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 5:41:44 PM
Love some Miriam!
Lizbot (host) 5:42:07 PM
@Don Hamp- Yeah, you know me. I was there in the Paradise Garage DJ booth with Larry Levan. I was there in Jamaica during the great sound clashes. I woke up naked on the beach in Ibiza in 1988.
Number 6 5:42:08 PM
If the hand claps at a high rate of speed it should make a noise.
Lizbot (host) 5:42:26 PM
@Addie - THIS shriek! I LOVE her so much
Lizbot (host) 5:42:58 PM
@Addie - My dad had her records when I was a kid and I'm so glad he did
Lizbot (host) 5:44:30 PM
@Number 6 - I hurt my hand trying that!
Number 6 5:45:32 PM
If I wave my hand near my ear real fast I can hear air.

Hi Commie! Haha, high-energy for cooking, I imagine!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 5:47:27 PM
This set is the hotness!
Lizbot (host) 5:48:14 PM
@Number 6 - Reminds me of that West African book Why Do Mosquitos Buzz In People's Ears, except a more pleasant association, like trying to hear the ocean in my grandmom's conch shell when I was a kid
Lizbot (host) 5:49:32 PM
@Addie - Thx! This is all music Hattie got into and we listen to together. She had her bday party week ago when it was warm enough to have it outside, but her actual bday is this week
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 5:50:20 PM
I loooove that!

@Addie - Truth! And I'm trying to cheer her up since she's so sick on her birthday!
Brian D 5:59:12 PM
I think "Pops" Staples and Papa Legba are diff things but ya Pops was in True Stories.
Shut Up Wesley 6:00:32 PM
House That Jack Built! One of the songs I used all the time for bass practice! That’s Chuck Rainey, folks.
Brian D 6:01:27 PM
This Angelique doing Talking Heads lp is cool. Never heard whole thing
Lizbot (host) 6:01:37 PM
@Brian D - Pops Staples played Papa Legba in True Stories, since his character was a voodoo practitioner
Shut Up Wesley 6:01:45 PM
Happy birthday, Hattie Bot! 🎂
Lizbot (host) 6:02:24 PM
Hi Wes! Nice! Well, you know I love a great bass line
Brian D 6:03:36 PM
Oh i thought he was just called Mr Tucker... Papa Legba in disguise eh?
Lizbot (host) 6:03:50 PM
Yeah, this is a Talking Heads-heavy show, but the kid is Talking Heads obsessed! Saw both Kidjo and Byrne this past year
Lizbot (host) 6:05:24 PM
@Brian D - I think when he's channeling Papa Legba he calls himself that. I showed Hattie that movie years ago, but I think she needs to see it again soon! I love the scene where he's spitting soda water and singing while Louis "The Bear" gets ready for the big show
George Korein 6:12:59 PM

Carlos Ramone 6:18:13 PM
@ Liz…any music you steer her away from? Oris the whole collection open?
Lizbot (host) 6:19:31 PM
@Brian D - MEtrocard machines = candy-colored Masamichi Udagawa fun. SEPTA = perpetually "about change," which they don't accept
Lizbot (host) 6:22:11 PM
@Brian D - One of my favorite movies. The crazy fashion show designed by DB's then wife, Adelle Lutz, who, tying Talking Heads back to a Harry Belafonte we heard earlier tonight, was in the dinner party scene in Beetlejuice set to Belafonte's Day O!, but I'm sure you already know that! I love her giant bow on her outfit in that scene!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:30:30 PM
Z loves Sufjan. Especially this album.
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:31:00 PM
Sharing music with your kids is so satisfying.
Lizbot (host) 6:32:03 PM
@Addie - For real. Ha, I have a feeling Hattie & Z would get along with each other quite well. Hattie constantly plays this song. She even taught it to herself on piano.
Lizbot (host) 6:33:44 PM
@Addie - Only Sufjan can sing "oh woe is me" in a song and get away with it! Do you watch comedian Chris Fleming's videos? He does a good Sufjan impersonation

hey hey! all!
Rachel Milligan 6:34:22 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:38:07 PM
@Addie - I saw him live at PhilaMOCA a couple months ago. He tried and failed to pronounce Schuylkill and then fell over from the effort
Lizbot (host) 6:38:45 PM
@Richard - One of the greats. :'(
Ossy Hyouka 6:40:05 PM
Evening Lizzybot, awesome kick off with motown, rnb and some afrobeats like Pool Pah Paige!
Lizbot (host) 6:40:35 PM
Hi Ossy! Glad you enjoyed it!
Ossy Hyouka 6:41:04 PM
I saw Staple Singers, which they used one of their songs in Crooklyn. Classic movie!
Ossy Hyouka 6:41:28 PM
How was your Thanksgiving and those smelly pies?
Lizbot (host) 6:43:23 PM
@Ossy - Yeah, we were talking about Spike Lee earlier in the chat! Crooklyn and Do the Right Thing are my SL favorites. Such a great soundtrack! I love when they remix Soul Train footage for the credits
Lizbot (host) 6:44:47 PM
@Ossy - Had a great Thanksgiving! How about you? Sadly, the vinegar pie was not present this year as that aunt was sick and had to stay home
Ossy Hyouka 6:46:29 PM
Yeah hahaha and rest in paradise for Don Cornelius ! I adore Staples "Do It Again"! Memorable Crooklyn moments are the Queenie the dog incident, Vic vs the smelly guy with many dogs, Clinton almost getting stangled by his mother over a game, LOOOOL, Zelda standing up to the two bullies near the end of the movie etc!
Rachel Milligan 6:46:38 PM
happy birthday week teenbot!!!
Ossy Hyouka 6:47:48 PM
My Thanksgiving was great, watched random Thanksgiving movies like Scooby-Doo Witches Ghost, Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and Rugrats in Paris. Sorry for your aunt and hope she's doing well.

Lizbot (host) 6:56:12 PM
@Ossy - ha, whoa, I think I have never encountered Scooby-Doo Witches Ghost! That's a great Charlie Brown special I have cozy childhood memories of!
Ossy Hyouka 6:57:56 PM
Lizbot - I also saw Wakanda Forever last Thanksgiving week!!!
Ossy Hyouka 6:58:23 PM
Witches Ghost is a sure real classic like Zombie Island and Ghoul School!
Lizbot (host) 6:58:24 PM
@Ossy - A lot of fam couldn't make it this year, but it was still a really nice thxgiving and nice NYC visit. Got in lots of family visits and a friend visit, some shows.
Ossy Hyouka 7:00:02 PM
Nice Thanksgiving still, it was normal for me at home, with fam, but still a great time and of course with wprb! Saw the Thanksgiving 6abc parade
Hattie Korein 7:06:22 PM
Smiths are hands down my favorite band.
Lizbot (host) 7:06:27 PM
@Ossy - Nice! I am glad Max subbed for me so that I could travel that week. I caught some of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I always crack up seeing the Pillsbury Doughboy. It's one of the oldest floats there and it always tilts menacingly towards the crowd, like it's about to attack!

@Ossy - I love Everywhere especially! Sunny breath indeed!
Ossy Hyouka 7:14:12 PM
Especially "Dreams" and "Tell Me Lies"!
Ossy Hyouka 7:14:54 PM
Rest in Paradise for Christina McVee along with Irene Cara!
Lizbot (host) 7:17:27 PM
@Ossy - haha, I heard "Lies" everywhere when it came out and stupidly thought for the longest time she was singing "Tell me Liz, tell me sweet little Liz" because I had a classmate named Liza who went "Liz" pronounced "Lies"! I didn't realize the actual lyric for at least a year! It always reminds me of that classmate.
Lizbot (host) 7:19:21 PM
@Ossy - Re: Irene Cara - More childhood memories associated with her! My school's talent show had FAME! theme because that TV show based on the Fame movie was popular at the time. All us kids had to sing her "Fame" theme song as the opening number to the talent show.
Lizbot (host) 7:20:19 PM
@Ossy - ALSO, I had a ridiculous record as a kid called FLASH BEAGLE that was a Snoopy version of IC's Flashdance and featured Snoopy on the cover in leg-warmers and a pink headband!
Lizbot (host) 7:20:41 PM
@OSsy - I still remember all the lyrics to Fame
Lizbot (host) 7:21:40 PM
@OSsy - My mom was a teacher at my school and was in charge of the talent show that year, so she DRILLED that song's lyrics and choreography into me!
Ossy Hyouka 7:27:58 PM
CUUUUTE and so as Irene! I think of that Red Baron song they play at Christmas, involving Snoopy! I used to hear Lies and Fleetwood songs on Breeze 106.1, before it was bought for Spanish songs. That's funny you thought of that saying Tell Me Liz, tell me sweet camping Liz! LOL

This has been a great show, Hattie and Liz. Feel better and happy birthday Hattie!
Lizbot (host) 7:33:38 PM
Thanks, Rob!!
Lizbot (host) 7:45:19 PM
Hattie was so far from the mic, I don't know how audible that was! Wish I had the other mic set up too but this mixer program couldn't handle it!
Number 6 7:48:20 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:51:01 PM
@Rob from Maryland - Good! haha, on the same wavelength!
Lizbot (host) 7:53:02 PM
Hattie was pissed because kids at school always thought her Kate Bush shirts were "weird" for the past 5 years she's been a huge KB fan, and when she tried to get her friends into KB, they weren't interested. THEN Running Up That Hill becomes an integral part of Stranger Things season 4, and all the kids were listening to just that song but no other KB. Hattie is OVER IT
David Shortell 7:53:07 PM
I never heard of that film. So that's where the Los Angeles quartet got their name from.
richard lyons 7:54:05 PM
Missed all the fun but, HBD Hattie!!!!!!!
Lizbot (host) 7:54:17 PM
@David Shortell - yes! Well, the name of the films actually comes from a song by the the Japanese band The Blue Hearts from the late 80s! Great movie. I had to find a region free bootleg of it though
David Shortell 7:54:20 PM
I saw Dressy Bessy at the Saint a few years back. I'm going there tonight, probably for the last time.

Lizbot, I read your post about Hattie, KB, kids at school to my wife and she SO RELATES to that. "Hattie will be so cool when she grows up and that's what matters."
