I'm playing a lot of my kid's favorites right now for her 14th birthday and I love that she grabbed my Bill Withers records a couple years ago and plays them regularly. We were listening to Still Bill on the way to NYC last Wednesday, along with a bunch of the other soul/R&B songs in the first chunk of the show today

I remember when we were young we went ape over The Monkeys and other groups of that era.

@Brian D - One of my favorite movies. The crazy fashion show designed by DB's then wife, Adelle Lutz, who, tying Talking Heads back to a Harry Belafonte we heard earlier tonight, was in the dinner party scene in Beetlejuice set to Belafonte's Day O!, but I'm sure you already know that! I love her giant bow on her outfit in that scene!

Z loves Sufjan. Especially this album.

Memorable Crooklyn moments are the Queenie the dog incident, Vic vs the smelly guy with many dogs, Clinton almost getting stangled by his mother over a game, LOOOOL, Zelda standing up to the two bullies near the end of the movie etc!

@Ossy - Nice! I am glad Max subbed for me so that I could travel that week. I caught some of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I always crack up seeing the Pillsbury Doughboy. It's one of the oldest floats there and it always tilts menacingly towards the crowd, like it's about to attack!

@Ossy - Re: Irene Cara - More childhood memories associated with her! My school's talent show had FAME! theme because that TV show based on the Fame movie was popular at the time. All us kids had to sing her "Fame" theme song as the opening number to the talent show.

@Ossy - ALSO, I had a ridiculous record as a kid called FLASH BEAGLE that was a Snoopy version of IC's Flashdance and featured Snoopy on the cover in leg-warmers and a pink headband!

Hattie was pissed because kids at school always thought her Kate Bush shirts were "weird" for the past 5 years she's been a huge KB fan, and when she tried to get her friends into KB, they weren't interested. THEN Running Up That Hill becomes an integral part of Stranger Things season 4, and all the kids were listening to just that song but no other KB. Hattie is OVER IT

I never heard of that film. So that's where the Los Angeles quartet got their name from.
