Bombay Jayashri Ramnath was born into a family of musicians, and represents the fourth generation of music practitioners in her family. She was trained by Lalgudi Jayaraman and T R Balamani. Margazhi Raagam is a 2008 film of the Carnatic music concert performed by Bombay Jayashri and T.M. Krishna. For this recording, Jayashri is accompanied by Embar S. Kannan (violin) and Patri Satish Kumar (mridangam).

Viram Jasani (born 1945) is a Kenyan-born Indian sitar and tabla composer and musician. He is best known for playing tabla on the song "Black Mountain Side" from Led Zeppelin's 1969 debut album. As a sitarist, he is mainly self-taught. Sarodist Gurdev Singh is a student of Amjad Ali Khan. Tabla player Latif Ahmed Khan is a close friend and musical mentor of Viram Jasani.

Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna (6 July 1930 – 22 November 2016) was an Indian Carnatic vocalist, musician, multi-instrumentalist, playback singer, composer, and character actor - a success in every field he entered.

The "Saxophone Brothers" are Jonathan Kay (srutiphone=custom soprano sax) and Andrew Kay (alto sax). After studying jazz in Toronto, they went to Kolkata and became students of Shantanu Bhattacharyya.

Studying under Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, K. Sivaprasad chose to whistle Carnatic kritis.

Son of sarangi maestro Shakoor Khan, Mashkoor Ali Khan represents the Kirana gharana, and has been a resident teacher at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy of Calcutta for over 20 years.

N. Ravikiran was was born on 12 Feb 1967 in Mysore. A child prodigy, he is credited for rescuing the chitravina (aka gottuvadyam) from total obscurity.

Amelia Cuni is an Italian singer and composer/performer. She has been studying Indian Classical music since the late 1970's. She is one of the few women singing in the dhrupad style, receiving training from Rahim Fahimuddin Dagar and Bidur Mallik. Most of her work includes contemporary and experimental music collaborations with western ambient and minimalist artists.

M.S. Gopalakrishnan, a.k.a. MSG, (10 June 1931 – 3 January 2013) is commonly grouped with Lalgudi Jayaraman and T.N.Krishnan as part of the violin-trinity of Carnatic Music.

Sudha Ragunathan (born 30 April 1956 in Chennai) is an Indian Carnatic vocalist, singer and composer. She studied fro 13 years under Dr. M.L. Vasanthakumari.

Ashesh Bandopadhyaya (1920-1992, from Bishnupur, West Bengal) was one of the few performers on the esraj, a bowed fretted instrument. The neck is similar to a sitar, in that it has rained frets under which the sympathetic strings run. The esraj, and the similar dilruba, are rarely heard, having been replaced by the harmonium as the instrument of choice to accompany vocalists in Hindustani music.

Maharajapuram Santhanam, (20 May 1928-24 June 1992) followed the footsteps of his father Maharajapuram Viswanatha Iyer who was also a renowned Carnatic vocalist.
