Hi Rofflestomp!
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 5:03:31 PM
Heya Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 5:03:57 PM
@Rofflestomp - I don't even know what's going on anymore! Did I say "or something"?? I am freezing at the moment! My heater is not working right!
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 5:05:01 PM
Gosh, I have 70+ without the heat on here!
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 5:06:30 PM
Everyone else has the heat on in my building though.
Lizbot (host) 5:06:45 PM
@Rofflestomp - Wot?! Oof, it's way too cold in here, and I am sitting next to some old leaky windows
Number 6 5:07:18 PM
Hi Lizbot! No heat really sux.
Lizbot (host) 5:07:36 PM
Hello Number 6!
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 5:07:50 PM
I can only suggest remidies via Amazon for a speedy fix!
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 5:08:14 PM
#6!
Lizbot (host) 5:08:18 PM
@Number 6 - There's heat...sorta. I think... I haven't checked if anything's coming out of the register recently, but my thermostat says "ERROR" and won't respond
Number 6 5:08:42 PM
Hi Roffle!
Lizbot (host) 5:08:48 PM
and yeah, it's too cold in here! I'm wearing a coat
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 5:09:26 PM
Heya Six!
Number 6 5:09:49 PM
I have some small electric heaters on standby. At work we sometimes had delayed heat.
Lizbot (host) 5:11:08 PM
@number 6 - space heaters always flip my old house's breakers. They scare me, anyway- Always hear about those starting fires!
Number 6 5:12:41 PM
I never had a problem. I would always run them at half power. The newer ones should have a trip switch if they get knocked over.
Ambrose Hughes 5:13:29 PM
Evenin' Lizbot! Sorry to hear you are dealing with a dodgy heater, not fun.😨
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 5:13:46 PM
I am sending a roll of pennys to the WPRB P.O. to fix that there lectrical issue.

Hi Ambrose!
Lizbot (host) 5:17:04 PM
@Ambrose - Already had the HVAC repair out here and the guy was like "you need a bigger return" and then quoted some estimates. Meanwhile, I'm freezing!
Lizbot (host) 5:17:15 PM
haha, thanks, Roffle!
Lizbot (host) 5:18:24 PM
@Number 6 - yeah, true! my old house has some old knob and tube wiring and those gas lamp hook-ups in the wall! Gas co says they're no longer supplied with gas, but that gives you an idea of the old spookiness of this house
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 5:18:39 PM
Number 6 sent me! :)
Lizbot (host) 5:20:50 PM
@Number 6 - I do occasionally run a small newer space heater in my kid's room because the breaker doesn't flip in there. Back of the house (where I am) is colder. We had pipes freeze and burst back here once years ago. Insulated the hell outta those since then! Dumbly, though, some of those pipes just go into pure dirt with no crawlspace underneath
Number 6 5:21:42 PM
I remember those gas lamp hookups, we also had some mechanical bells on a wire that one would ring for the servants.
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 5:23:28 PM
Gas lamps! LOL I looked away while voting last week.
Lizbot (host) 5:25:36 PM
@Number - got a sealed up disused staircase that currently has a ladder and some tools propped on it, plus one of those dumbwaiter doors, also sealed up
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 5:25:44 PM
"pure dirt" I love everything about that idea!
Lizbot (host) 5:26:23 PM
@Rofflestomp - coated in pure dirt, so you know it's quality!
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 5:26:51 PM

Number 6 5:27:24 PM
Old houses have a lot of character, at least.
Lizbot (host) 5:28:31 PM
The non-functional stairway goes part-way to the 2nd fl and then just stops. It's got pipes and a floor blocking it now. It's covered in mystery dust and is sort of a "closet," in the sense that we throw things on it that awkwardly teeter on its slanted surfaces
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 5:29:50 PM
Should we climb, or go the other way?
Number 6 5:29:52 PM
I've known several hoses with an extra staircase. Hopefully not haunted.
Number 6 5:30:13 PM
I mean, houses.
George Korein 5:31:08 PM
Loving the show, especially that Meredith!
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 5:32:04 PM
George is the hippist cat I know! :)
Lizbot (host) 5:32:31 PM
@Rofflestomp - Go the other way! Reminds me of that Berenstain Bears book, The Old Spooky Tree, where they keep asking, should we go through the spooky tree, down the path, etc
Lizbot (host) 5:32:44 PM
@George - Glad y're digging it !
Lizbot (host) 5:33:13 PM

George Korein 5:42:47 PM
Thanks Roffle! I got to see the hardware in my hip, it cut a striking profile in x-ray. Bigger than they made it sound. I just started walking again and just have to rebuild the mushy muscles and re-establish a proper gait
Lizbot (host) 5:43:10 PM
@Rachel - Night In the Woods is so good, I was sad when it was over. I still go back and play it and its mini-games sometimes
George Korein 5:43:12 PM

Lizbot (host) 5:43:24 PM

Lizbot (host) 5:44:21 PM

Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 5:47:05 PM
Just glad to know you can wiggle toes George! Really. I will be asking about which borads to buy later. :)
George Korein 5:47:30 PM
Ambrose, I know, but she originally spelled it Wise Blood
George Korein 5:47:38 PM
and she said she got it from the book
Lizbot (host) 5:48:13 PM
@Ambrose - yes! Psyched for the new album tomorrow and the show in February at Union Transfer! I can't believe she's playing UT now! Did you see that big feature in The New Yorker on Natalie this week?
Ambrose Hughes 5:48:27 PM
@George, ah, gotcha!
George Korein 5:49:13 PM
There is a movie of the book and it's supposed to be pretty good but I don't want to see it because I don't like watching movies of books I've read/audiobooked
Rachel Milligan 5:49:21 PM
this is perfect fireplace music
Ambrose Hughes 5:49:51 PM
Lizbot, I did not, I thought she was in the U.K. at present?
Lizbot (host) 5:50:30 PM
@Rachel - excellent! I can see curling up to a fireplace to these tunes. I wish my fireplace worked since it's freezing in here currently! Now I'm dreaming of a fire...
George Korein 5:50:43 PM
especially because though I have trouble visualizing books with much clarity usually, I had strong visuals in my mind for that book
George Korein 5:51:36 PM
I imagined it as a certain kind of gritty black and white animation
Lizbot (host) 5:51:54 PM
@George - this current song is an electronic reinterpretation of a Julius Eastman composition, possibly of interest to anyone who played in that Julius Eastman Bowerbird show years ago, such as yourself, or attended said show, such as myself. I love that Eastman is posthumously getting so much attention in recent years
Rachel Milligan 5:54:14 PM
@liz oh no!! wish i could send you some fire haha
Lizbot (host) 5:55:49 PM
@Rachel - Sounds good! I'll take one fireball, please. I'll hold it at arm's length with my robotic appendage for just the right amount of warmth. Oh why was my body built to be sensitive to cold?
Lizbot (host) 5:58:13 PM
Speaking of movies and soundtracks to things, the movie from whence this song came is so good: Miranda July's "Kajillionaire." I can't recommend it enough!
Guelo 6:02:46 PM

George Korein 6:07:45 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:08:26 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:10:44 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:18:55 PM

@Addie - I've been complaining about how chilly it is in my house right now, with its forever-malfunctioning heater, but how's Vermont now?
Rachel Milligan 6:20:53 PM
@lizbot Definitely a fireside favorite, great mix name!
Lizbot (host) 6:21:11 PM
@Addie - I want to pile yr animals on me for warmth, though Mr. Slithers would instead prefer to siphon heat from me, I'm sure
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:21:58 PM
A chilly 29 degrees at the moment! Mr. Slithers is out and about getting his warm snuggle time in with Z.
Lizbot (host) 6:22:04 PM
@Rachel - haha, yeah, I ended up trading a lot of music with that dorm-mate, though that mix was really just Felt tracks on one side and Belle & Sebastian on the other!
Lizbot (host) 6:24:52 PM
@Addie - Sweet! I love the thought of slithers all curled up on Z. You know, it's not that much warmer here at the moment. Well, okay, 37 now, but low tomorrow in the high 20s and dipping into the low 20s this weekend and I'm not ready! Ever since George broke his hip, I do all the dog walks, which I enjoy...until it gets a bit too cold! Good thing Nuala has a lot of fur
George Korein 6:24:57 PM

George Korein 6:25:23 PM
Does that mean migrating while listening to Mastodon?
Lizbot (host) 6:25:31 PM

Rob from Maryland 🦀 🇺🇦 🌻 🇮🇷 6:25:50 PM
@Lizbot, I don't know anything about Bird Town Pennsylvania. A quick google search of Bird Town Maryland takes me to https://birdcitymaryland.org/. It looks like the sign is in the top left corner. And the town of La Plata is the first Bird City of Maryland

Rob from Maryland 🦀 🇺🇦 🌻 🇮🇷 6:26:32 PM
@George, if you migrate, you *become* a Mastodon
Lizbot (host) 6:26:48 PM
@George - Yes. I am more likely to migrate like a bird while listening to the band Mastodon than I am to attempt to switch to a Twitter alternative. I'll probably just leave Twitter, but I barely ever used it in the first place. I can't deal with yet more social media platforms
Lizbot (host) 6:27:12 PM
@George - Truly. That Dagmar is shifty.
George Korein 6:27:14 PM
there's a social media platform called Mastodon?
George Korein 6:27:44 PM
Extinct before it even launched
Lizbot (host) 6:27:49 PM
@George - Yes. It's a twitter alternative, apparently, but I don't really need twitter so I don't need a twitter substitute

George Korein 6:34:08 PM
Thanks Rob. We must... we must... we must increase our tusk
George Korein 6:34:48 PM
This is like Andrew Bird bass edition
Lizbot (host) 6:35:13 PM
Hello Richard Lyons - Thanks! Yeah, I am jut as likely to play Andrew Bird and I've seen both AB and Nat Baldwin live and love their live shows. I can hear the similarity
Lizbot (host) 6:35:48 PM
I'm a sucker for the gooey fretless bass on this track. Nice fretless and nice strings
Lizbot (host) 6:36:09 PM
@George - Ah, that particular mystery is solved/
George Korein 6:36:15 PM
Nat for the (bald)win
Rachel Milligan 6:36:26 PM
wow i completely forgot about wiretap
Lizbot (host) 6:38:53 PM
@Rachel - I used to listen to it on drives home from the station Thursday nights
Rachel Milligan 6:39:11 PM
starlee kine was a voice actor on the very strange adult swim show the shivering truth!
Rachel Milligan 6:39:49 PM
@lizbot i feel like wiretap was MADE for night driving
TAndy: Monthly Doner 🥙 6:47:41 PM
😶‍🌫️
Lizbot (host) 6:48:40 PM
@Rachel - oh wow, I could see her doing VA, but I never heard of that show. I will have to check it out! I was thinking about how much I loved Over the Garden Wall, which was not an Adult Swim show, but has some similarities with some of their animated programs, and I wish there were more shows by Patrick McHale. Supposedly he's directing an animated adaptation of the Redwall books, but I have yet to see it released
Lizbot (host) 6:48:49 PM
Hi TAndy!
TAndy: Monthly Doner 🥙 6:49:19 PM
Good evening :)
Lizbot (host) 6:49:27 PM
@Rachel - Yes! Exactly why I listened to it. That, and also, after doing a 3-hour music show, I wanted non-music for my drive home.
Brian 'D' For Donor 6:52:29 PM
Got that Lou Reedish thing happening (is it Street Hassle or somethingfrom Berlin...). I remember hearing this on prb before. that cello line....
Lizbot (host) 6:52:38 PM
I love the detuned notes in this song, and those gnarly chiptune saw waves
Lizbot (host) 6:52:48 PM
juxtaposed with the piano
Lizbot (host) 6:53:08 PM
@Brian D - yeah, I def played it before, for one!
Lizbot (host) 6:53:26 PM
@Brian D - This is my favorite of Godin's recent projects
Lizbot (host) 6:56:27 PM
@Brian D - Did you see Fire of Love, the Sara Dosa doc narrated by Miranda July about French volcanists Katia and Maurice Krafft? Godin did the music and the opening credits track is on this same Contrepoint album. I saw that at Sundance online last year, and a second time on the big screen at Ambler since I needed to show George & Hattie and see that amazing footage in a theater.
Brian 'D' For Donor 6:57:20 PM
Aha... just read a list of Godin's fave contemporary works that are classical based and he mentions Lou Reed Street Hassle! No doubt he was quoting that and Bach as well... it keeps going down the line the the borrows... love it!
Lizbot (host) 6:58:15 PM
@Brian D - Perfect! There ya go! Bach + Reed!
Lizbot (host) 6:58:32 PM
Playing this after hearing so many Neil Young covers for the past three weeks on Jon's show!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 🇺🇦 🌻 🇮🇷 6:58:34 PM
@George, I will busk for tusks
Brian 'D' For Donor 6:58:46 PM
The lorries roll by.... one of the earliest Neil Young singalong lyric awareness tunes we heard as young kids. Older brothers of friends used to break out the acoustics and play this all the time. Teachin the kids...
Lizbot (host) 6:58:55 PM
@ROb - Will you busk by playing songs from the album "Tusk" by Fleetwood Mac?
Rob from Maryland 🦀 🇺🇦 🌻 🇮🇷 6:59:23 PM
@Lizbot, why don't you ask me what's going on ;-)
Brian 'D' For Donor 6:59:32 PM
Neil and Nils just syncing up at one of those "right time right place moments" for this lp. Beautiful album
Lizbot (host) 6:59:51 PM
@Brian D - One of the only good things to come of the pandemic is that Sundance Film Fest is online too now. I can't wait for this winter's! Come's just in time to strike off the winter blues!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 🇺🇦 🌻 🇮🇷 7:00:09 PM
@Lizbot, I'll busk by playing songs from Tusk, from Fleetwood Mac, and the in between album
Brian 'D' For Donor 7:00:18 PM
And Liz re the Miranda question... no but it sounds right up me alley@!
Lizbot (host) 7:01:22 PM
@Brian D - Such a great LP!
Brian 'D' For Donor 7:01:25 PM
Miranda is very much a "heard first on WPRB" moment for me. There were a couple pieces played every day multiple times for a few weeks back 20 yrs ago or so.
Lizbot (host) 7:01:51 PM
@Rob - Busk for Mastodon or Bust!
Lizbot (host) 7:02:35 PM
@Brian D - I was one of those people playing Miranda 20 years ago. I met her at the Philly Film Fest for the Philly premiere of Me You and Everyone We Know
Lizbot (host) 7:03:36 PM
@Rob - You got me. What's going on??
richard lyons 7:04:03 PM
I was lucky to work with Miranda in Portland just before that. Sleater Kinney video and a short film :)
Ossy Hyouka 7:05:58 PM

Rob from Maryland 🦀 🇺🇦 🌻 🇮🇷 7:07:12 PM
@Lizbot, just paraphrasing Fleetwood Mac lyrics, badly
Ryan Acosta 7:07:27 PM
Can we request songs?
Lizbot (host) 7:07:49 PM
@Richard Lyons - Nice! I spoke with her briefly after the Me You and Everyone We Know screening and she was so nice. I played that soundtrack quite a bit back then
Lizbot (host) 7:08:16 PM
Hi Ryan - I may or may not have what you're looking for or the time to play it before the end of the show, but what do you want to hear?
Brian 'D' For Donor 7:09:23 PM
Come on come over.... Jaco solo lp sound in that melody
Ryan Acosta 7:09:34 PM

richard lyons 7:12:29 PM
That is a good one, Ryan! Love Ernest Hood's Portland work:)
Number 6 7:13:16 PM
Ernest Hood just had a new/old album released recently.
Lizbot (host) 7:13:20 PM
@Ossy - Yes! I took my kid to see Angelique Kidjo at McCarter Theater in Princeton earlier this year. She was great!

George Korein 7:29:23 PM

George Korein 7:29:54 PM
Dug the drums on the Zodiac
Lizbot (host) 7:30:33 PM
TAndy - I am a BIG fan of Petra's a cappella King Crimson and The Who covers - She did all of The Who Sell Out from beginning to end including the mock IDs and ads in between songs
Number 6 7:31:18 PM
I meant DJ laptop.
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 7:36:27 PM
I have no problems Verbs. I kinda liked that'd that movie.
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 7:37:53 PM
Not the best, but if you were ever bullied it's a plus.
Teresa Yes I Did!nate 7:39:57 PM
Around the time that movie came out, I used to get stopped on the street, at the mall, at the supermarket, etc. by people (mostly creepy older guys in their 20s and 30s) who 'mistook' me for Joan Cusack (we're about the same age). They meant to be kind, but I was always bummed out about it.
Lizbot (host) 7:41:25 PM
Hello Teresa! - haha, what?! Oh no! Sorry that happened to you!
Teresa Yes I Did!nate 7:42:50 PM
I guess it was the frizzy hair and braces and the 'kick me

PSA: Sometimes a pony gets depressed
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 7:43:14 PM
Geez, if I thought you were Joan Cusack I would have said hi in gym class and called it good. Just me though.
Lizbot (host) 7:43:19 PM
@Teresa - ha, oh man. I love Joan. I love Joan and John. A rare non-John Cusack Joan movie, that was!
Lizbot (host) 7:44:58 PM
I like the pure relish with which David Berma says "depressed" in this song. It's sadder in retrospect, given his fate, but I still like to think of this one as upbeat
richard lyons 7:46:09 PM
Yes, Liz.
Teresa Yes I Did!nate 7:46:42 PM
' sign on my back... just kidding. Aw, @Rofflestomp, thanks -- just 13-14 year old insecurity resurfacing.

@Teresa , Yup! Girls scared the shit out of me. And that kicked my ass out of the box!
Lizbot (host) 7:49:39 PM
@Teresa - ha! Joan and her giant braces. Hattie, as a toddler, used to love a show Joan Cusack narrated called Peep & The Big Wide World
Teresa Yes I Did!nate 7:51:12 PM
Gah, I love this song so much!!! I've been loving this entire show -- I especially love that Nico song that just evokes November so much for me. And I remember 'Peep & The Big Wide World', and very fondly!
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 7:51:32 PM
Thanx Lizbot!!!
Teresa Yes I Did!nate 7:52:44 PM

TAndy: Monthly Doner 🥙 7:54:58 PM
Thanks for the show!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:03 PM
@Teresa - I'm so glad you caught it! Yeah, I've loved her since stumbling upon her first two albums in the late 90s, plus of course that Tropicália ou Panis et Circencis manifesto album, where she does "Baby," one of my all-time favorite songs!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:48 PM
Thanks for listening, TAndy!
Lizbot (host) 7:56:14 PM
Thanks, Richard! Oh wow! I am really digging this and want to take a deeper dive into his work this week!

Number 6 7:58:49 PM
Happy bird day to Lizbot and everyone!
Lizbot (host) 7:59:07 PM
@Teresa - I always associate Nico with fall into winter! I am glad you saw Peep! I recommended that show to a lot of people, but not many I know saw it!
richard lyons 7:59:23 PM
Awesome, all! I will check it, Number 6:)
Lizbot (host) 7:59:32 PM

Lizbot (host) 8:03:50 PM
@Ossy - Vinegar pie is surprisingly good! Comes from my husband's aunt's family from Ohio, so I suspect it's a regional dish!
