Andrew Gruen 8:06:48 PM
i certainly hope every employee chooses the 3 months' severance pay offer
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 8:07:00 PM
Severance sounds like the final Tweets from Tweeter's former employees. Too soon?
TAndy: Monthly Doner 🥙 8:07:22 PM
@AndrewG real talk, the only ones taking that offer are the ones who need the job for their visas and a select few workaholics. Most of them got fired or quit
Mike Lupica (host) 8:09:19 PM
Still trying to decide if I want to quit or get kicked off. Given the way things are going, I may not have to make the choice.
Mike Lupica (host) 8:10:15 PM
>>>Customary remarks about how one benefit of broadcasting from home is that I can play Hawkwind w/o fielding 37 phone calls from annoying Hawkwind fans. RIP Nik Turner.
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 8:11:39 PM
Like the old AM crossover stuff?
Liz Bot 8:12:05 PM
Queue the Philly Prog Cabal, surely chomping at the bit, tiring out their fingers dialing the studio fruitlessly
Mike Lupica (host) 8:12:13 PM
Hahaha
Dave M. 8:12:33 PM
"MAN WOW! I remember seeing Hawkwind back in 74 in Milwaukee, it was a club called the Silver Dolphin, of course it's not there anymore, they used to have these pink goblets full of Jagermeister. Maybe after this you could play some Topographic" *CLICK*
Mike Lupica (host) 8:12:57 PM
WELL PLAYED DAVE, WELL PLAYED. I'LL SEE YOU IN THE NEXT LIFE.
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 8:13:51 PM
The Progers will come at you while you are still counting in 4/4, and you'll never see it coming.
Liz Bot 8:14:52 PM
@Dave M. - TOO REAL
Dave M. 8:15:36 PM
lol @ Rofflestomp, timeless time signature humor
Mike Lupica (host) 8:16:19 PM
Gallagher was way into that, I hear.

Till he died laughing.

THE PROG-O-MATIC TAKES NO PRISONERS
Liz Bot 8:16:54 PM
I'll always remember when Frank In New Egypt told me when he saw Gentle Giant at the Tower Theater while on 'luudes, and he rapturously described Derek Shulman's shoes and then rapidly hung up, as was his custom
richard lyons 8:17:04 PM
oooh, nice MI:)
Jon "pledge.wprb.com" Solomon 8:17:06 PM
My wife’s aunt passed away a couple weeks back. No need to be sad. Great life lived, went out with family all around her. At the funeral I learned that in addition to being a great all-around person I liked a ton, she went to see Hawkwind with one of her kids in the 1970s. I was stunned and jealous in equal measure!
Mike Lupica (host) 8:17:27 PM
Jon wins the thread!
Mike Lupica (host) 8:17:53 PM
@Liz, that's like peak Frank FNE.
Liz Bot 8:17:59 PM
Careful, you might awaken New Jersey Prog House
Mike Lupica (host) 8:19:11 PM
They sponsored my little league team when I was in 3rd grade.
Liz Bot 8:19:17 PM
And NEARfest will inevitably follow...actually, I really want that to happen
Jon "pledge.wprb.com" Solomon 8:19:39 PM
I don’t think I can top either Liz or Dave’s fine work here tonight.
Mike Lupica (host) 8:20:16 PM
Tonight's playlist clearly haunted by Gallagher. I will smash a watermelon on the webcam at 11.
Mike Lupica (host) 8:20:47 PM
Though a quick check around the Starlite Lounge reveals I don;t have a watermelon. How about I just break a bottle of barbecue sauce?
Mike Lupica (host) 8:21:01 PM
#propcomedyradio
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 8:21:36 PM
The value of that 3rd grade team jersey is Christie's house level
Liz Bot 8:23:15 PM
juicy radio sounds. mic that watermelon! In this week's New Yorker, Doylestown native Natalie Mering (Weyes Blood) reminisces about mic-ing citrus fruits in a friend's Philly basement with musician Jim Strong. I think watermelon sounds are due for the spotlight
Dave M. 8:23:33 PM
Man I hope prog weirdos never discover the internet
Mike Lupica (host) 8:24:02 PM
I just wiped off my glasses on the webcam. Surely, I am on some sort of watchlist now.
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 8:24:52 PM
I was sitting next to Uncle Floyd as a kid in a mock Gallagher style event. Worth it not to be front row.
Mike Lupica (host) 8:25:25 PM
Uncle Floyd is a national treasure. At least in New Jersey he is.
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 8:25:44 PM

this 99 LETTERS is good
richard lyons 8:26:28 PM
indeed!
Mike Lupica (host) 8:27:21 PM
Yeah, new to me but way into what I've listened to so far!
Liz Bot 8:28:08 PM
@Dave M. - My husband's first foray into the internet was through a King Crimson discussion board called Elephant Talk where prog guys exchanged KC tabs
Mike Lupica (host) 8:28:55 PM
That is outstanding.
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 8:31:29 PM
Way to jam into the internet zone!
Dave M. 8:32:19 PM
I would laugh but I spent a lot of time as a pre-teen emailing (innocently, mind you) with a middle-aged librarian lady I met on a usenet group about our shared fondness for Monty Python
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 8:33:32 PM
At which Baud was that Dave? JK :)
Mike Lupica (host) 8:34:03 PM
I probably just left an angry comment on some punk blog.
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 8:35:28 PM
@Mike, Is there some other kind of punk post?
Dave M. 8:35:58 PM
@Roffle if it was 1200 I probably felt like I was flying. My 486 processor could barely handle it, they were dizzying times
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 8:37:09 PM
Co-Math processor all the way with the DX chip. I getcha.
Mike Lupica (host) 8:37:44 PM
Squeezing all of the death tributes into set #1. (Nik Turner from Hawkwind, now Keith Levene from PIL... despite earlier comments, we will not be pouring any out for Gallagher tonight.)
Liz Bot 8:37:47 PM
@Dave M. - I lurked on my share of prodigy.net bulletin boards and later, PhillyAmbientCollective(Man and Noise - PACMAN) board, chatting with ppl with mysterious names like 3Dcellophane (that's one I still remember to this day)
Dave M. 8:39:48 PM
3Dcellophane is now a 2nd circuit justice and would really rather you forget the whole thing
Dave M. 8:40:41 PM
(also i like how the chat hopefully converts prodigy.net into a link)
Liz Bot 8:40:53 PM
@Dave M. - Ha! I happen to know he's a dental equipment salesman in Delaware nnow
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 8:41:21 PM
@Mike, I stopped missing the dead long ago. I am just glad some of them were here. And the fuck with quite a few of the rest.
Dave M. 8:41:27 PM
haha
Mike Lupica (host) 8:42:20 PM
Fair point, Roffle. Happy to have been here at the same time as many of 'em, tho.
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 8:42:51 PM
Exactly, nice point
Liz Bot 8:43:46 PM
I remember a girl on the prodigy boards by the name of madflower who used to write highly detailed dramas circa '91-'93 about miniaturized versions of the members of Blur and various other britpop bands who rode around in her pockets. I think this was the earliest/closest thing I experienced to fanfic in the early 90s. Years later I discovered my friend knew that girl IRL, grew up with her in Oyster Bay, and she showed me madflower's old zines she had traded with her
richard lyons 8:49:09 PM

Liz Bot 8:49:20 PM
@Mike L - Speaking of accents, you just sounded Philly/South Jersey for a second there when you said "poasted"
richard lyons 8:49:37 PM

Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 8:55:17 PM
"Arguments I should have just politely stepped out of." Spot on Mike! I wish I had that gene.

Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 8:56:43 PM
@Liz Bot, Gaz is what you buy to make the car go vroom.
Mike Lupica (host) 8:57:25 PM
My accent wanders all over the tri-state area.
Liz Bot 8:59:02 PM
@Mike - I didn't expect it to descend south past the Central Jersey border
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 8:59:49 PM
Me too. I was early raised in North Jersey, and my aunt and mom had the consummate North Jew Jersey accent.
Mike Lupica (host) 9:00:18 PM
Lived in North Jerz for 20 years. I feel that.
Ambrose Hughes 9:01:49 PM
Evenin' Mike!
Mike Lupica (host) 9:03:17 PM
Hey Ambrose! You're just in time for what may be the best song of the night!
Liz Bot 9:04:58 PM
Mom was from South Jersey and Dad from West Philly which makes for lotsa long draawwn-out unnecessary dipthongs and triphthongs in them and myself and the omission of the first "r" in library. so an average afternoon might consist of going to the liberry and then spelunking in the abandoned asylum byberry
Ambrose Hughes 9:05:33 PM
Pretty damn great me thinks!
Mike Lupica (host) 9:06:25 PM
This shit just went Full Captain Ahab.
Ambrose Hughes 9:07:01 PM
Aye, aye!
Ambrose Hughes 9:07:50 PM
I hope they sound as good live as on record!
Mike Lupica (host) 9:09:19 PM
I know Christine's caught them... Maybe Esoterica, too. Check with them!
Ambrose Hughes 9:09:55 PM
Ah, OK👍
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 9:09:59 PM
More gain on the cow bell is never enough.
Ambrose Hughes 9:10:48 PM
Man, haven't heard 999 in many's a year!
Mike Lupica (host) 9:11:29 PM
Y'know, I only ever really think of the song "Homicide" when they come up, but they have a LOT of great tunes.
Ambrose Hughes 9:13:46 PM
Yep, made an impact across the pond as I recall.
Andrew Gruen 9:15:18 PM
@ambrose I i saw Frankie and the WFs this summer and I expected them to be pretty intense, and they seriously exceeded my expectations
Mike Lupica (host) 9:15:18 PM
Something random I remember from the City Gardens documentary: Before he booked the club in Trenton, Randy booked 999 to play at, like, a restaurant in Central Jerz.
Mike Lupica (host) 9:15:49 PM
This would have been in ... '79, I think?
Mike Lupica (host) 9:16:18 PM
Frankie ATWF are THEE band to beat these days.
richard lyons 9:17:13 PM
yep
Andrew Gruen 9:17:27 PM

Ambrose Hughes 9:18:15 PM
@Andrew Hi and thanks for the confirmation, now to go see 'em!
Ambrose Hughes 9:19:08 PM
I DID get to see this lot very fortunately!
Jen Redlights 9:19:19 PM
I see I signed in just in time.
Mike Lupica (host) 9:19:33 PM
Ha! Good timing, Jen.
Mike Lupica (host) 9:19:41 PM
Ambrose, first time around or on the reunion tour?
Jen Redlights 9:19:58 PM
fun fact: New album from Civic, who sound like Radio Birdman's younger brothers, was actually produced by Rob Younger!
Ambrose Hughes 9:20:07 PM
Hi Jen!
Ambrose Hughes 9:21:18 PM
@Mike, Reunion Tour, I don't think they ever played Stateside before that ???
Mike Lupica (host) 9:22:29 PM
Good to know that Rob is keeping busy. New Christs reunion next?!

Mike Lupica (host) 9:57:42 PM
Hahaha, Jerry, I got some Skatalites up next to tide everyone over!
Selecta Jerry 9:59:03 PM
I checked this TR record out and this tune is certainly an outlier
Ossy Hyouka 10:00:34 PM
Hey Liz and Selecta!
Andrew Gruen 10:00:51 PM
mike, this set is sublime
Mike Lupica (host) 10:01:11 PM

Mike Lupica (host) 10:15:09 PM
It's probably my #2 fave LZ song. #1 is "Battle of Evermore"
Dave M. 10:15:15 PM

Liz Bot 10:15:21 PM

Oh yea, Top choice is you asked me as a teen.
Liz Bot 10:15:55 PM
haha, Dave M!
Mike Lupica (host) 10:15:58 PM
I think the prog dudes have gone to bed. Can't imagine them tolerating Todd Rundgren ripping off the Skatalites with the Weezer dude.
Selecta Jerry 10:16:24 PM
What’s with the blue album cover ?
Mike Lupica (host) 10:16:37 PM
Dunno... Spinitron sorcery.
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 10:16:51 PM
Devils
Dan Ruccia 10:17:25 PM
I think I somehow never heard this Zepp song before. It's...really good?
Selecta Jerry 10:17:50 PM

Dogs of doom
Dan Ruccia 10:20:10 PM
It's wild how this could also totally be some recent shaggy indie psych band. I actually came over to the playlist to see what was up
Dan Ruccia 10:20:59 PM
Now you just need to play Planet Caravan
Dave M. 10:21:13 PM
Don't tempt him
Liz Bot 10:21:16 PM
the incense has burned down to a little pile of dust

D’yer Mak’er is travesty that for some reason my hometown pharmacy seemed to play every time I was waiting for a prescription
Selecta Jerry 10:23:36 PM

Dan Ruccia 10:25:07 PM
Mike, you god some weird reverb going on. Did the starlite lounge get transported to a giant cave?

Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 10:31:56 PM
You need to buy a radio many light years away to get that back with out tapes.
Liz Bot 10:32:18 PM
Maybe the Starlite Lounge has relocated inside Missouri’s Pixley limestone mine where Cavern Records recorded bands in the 70s. This is what happens when you get the led out
Selecta Jerry 10:32:42 PM
😂
Selecta Jerry 10:33:12 PM
Does the nj talk station still put echo on their hosts voice ?

I never understood why they did that
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 10:33:55 PM
OMG Liz Bot, I have been in a few of those storage mines. Weird stuff.
Selecta Jerry 10:34:53 PM
White Grievance FM🤣🔥🤣🔥
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 10:35:25 PM
Yea, they seem pissed indeed.
Mike Lupica (host) 10:35:59 PM
An entire radio station for people who suck at being from New Jersey.
Dan Ruccia 10:36:37 PM
"My irritability keeps me live and kicking"
Liz Bot 10:37:19 PM
@Roffle - I was in a mine an hour outside of Austin in Texas Hill Country and I still have nightmares about the mutant mosquitos that dwelled and dive-bombed my car just outside the mine. Horror movie potential
Liz Bot 10:37:38 PM
I am sitting in a room, licking the contacts...
Dave M. 10:37:39 PM
What in tarnation
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 10:37:41 PM
This tune is awesome Mike. I will just be happy for so many bars. Electro bro!
Liz Bot 10:38:14 PM
Much better
Dan Ruccia 10:38:32 PM
Don't try this at home, kids. That's why we're the radio professionals
Selecta Jerry 10:38:50 PM
On air turntable tips!! pledge.wprb.com
Mike Lupica (host) 10:38:57 PM
I'd like to see them try that at White Grievance FM.
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 10:42:04 PM
@Liz Bot - I have nightmare mosquito memories about living in a beach house on Quintana Island, Texas for a bit. Never go there towards sunset. EVER!
Mike Lupica (host) 10:43:35 PM
If you haven't seen it yet, the video for this Dry Cleaning song is a serious endurance test.
Liz Bot 10:43:36 PM
@Roffle - Texan mosquitos are demonic. I think living around all those bats made them evolve to be extra hardy and bloodthirsty
Ossy Hyouka 10:45:52 PM
Mosquitoes get on my last nerves like lanternflies, especially in Africa along with flies
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 10:46:56 PM
@Liz Bot - They have an actual Mosquito Fest in Freeport, TX every year. Never again.
Liz Bot 10:47:32 PM
@Ossy - I saw a video of a mine tour in Coober Pedy, south Australia and everyone above ground immediately gets eaten by a million flies. Would have to live underground there
Liz Bot 10:48:07 PM
@Roffle - ew, no! I hope that entails killing mosquitos
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 10:48:49 PM
I am cool with the night bat thing in Austin on the river. That is rather cool.
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 10:50:06 PM
My old girlfriend went to UT and Austin was my life for a long time.
Ambrose Hughes 10:51:56 PM
John F*****g Denver!
Selecta Jerry 10:52:03 PM
Blue John Denver
Liz Bot 10:52:12 PM
@Roffle - The Congress bat bridge is cool, except for those boat tours where they go UNDER the bridge and get pooped on as the bats wake up
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 10:52:13 PM
-ᎷяM, no stranger to bats and things of the night.
TAndy: Monthly Doner 🥙 10:52:48 PM
thanks for the show sir
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 10:53:39 PM
@Liz Bot, There is a piano bar for rich folk above all that that my girlfriend dad paid for.
jimboo 10:56:32 PM
Been out of PRB range for four days and just had to break into my own home because my teenager would not pick up his freaking phone but I am here for DOUBLE LIVE SURFERS
Ossy Hyouka 10:56:34 PM
🌟☀️😁💫
Liz Bot 10:56:59 PM
@Roffle - haha, we just stood on bridge, sans pianos.
Ambrose Hughes 10:57:14 PM
Stellar show Mike, thank you!
Mike Lupica (host) 10:57:14 PM
LOL Jimbo, a fine entrance.
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 10:57:16 PM
Thanx Mike!
Mike Lupica (host) 10:57:31 PM
Thanks to y'all for hanging out on a school night!
jimboo 10:58:05 PM
...and walked home 2 miles from train station cuz I refused to pay ooober 35 bucks
Mike Lupica (host) 10:58:37 PM
Hopefully Elon buys them next
Liz Bot 10:58:46 PM
@jimboo - oh no, that's grounds for revoking said phone, but then again, breaking and entering to the butthole surfers has a certain je ne sais quoi that makes it worthwhile
Ambrose Hughes 10:59:00 PM
@Jimbeaux, I admire that!
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 10:59:24 PM
Happy birthday Dan Ruccia!
Liz Bot 10:59:28 PM
@jimboo - I'd rather pay goober 35 bucks and have 35 bucks worth of goobers
Mike Lupica (host) 10:59:30 PM
Yeah, breaking into your own house while the Butthole Surfders play in the background earns you an official Captain of New Jersey Circa 1987 Recognition Dinner.
Liz Bot 11:00:03 PM
thx for the intense-drenched tunes and internet memories, mike
Mike Lupica (host) 11:00:15 PM
Anybody want to do a post-game on the YouTube?
Dave M. 11:00:18 PM
Fab show, sir. See you at the WPRB Formal
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 11:00:26 PM
On it
Liz Bot 11:01:04 PM
I still gotta watch that Frankie and the Witch Fingers Electricide video
Mike Lupica (host) 11:01:31 PM
Hang on, lemme just make sure TB is there
Rofflestomp (Sonar Donor) 11:03:55 PM
