My only full listen of the HH record was on an evening drive through winding roads so my attention was not completely on the music.

i haven't heard the whole thing yet, to be honest. i'm just automatically attracted to anything related to bog people.

my favorite piece of trivia about this song is that he was trying to sing like stan ridgway from wall of voodoo (another favorite of mine)

Young 12 year old me memories hearing this often on WPST (NJ radio early 80s - a very different station than any others using those call letters after)

I saw the Dead in 89. I'm not really a fan but they were great live.

Steve 1989 was my favorite year to see them. The Dead were in a good place then. Healthy. New tech. Loud guitar sounds in that era

@Dana - It was the Virgin Records “Machines” comp from 1980, which also had OMD, Fad Gadget, Tubeway Army, Silicon Teens, etc

@Dana - When I wanted a long sleepy track, I played XTC’s the somambulist from that comp

that was a sleepytime track for me as an extra on the black sea CD

The somnambulist wasn’t even that long, but it felt long and sleepy

@Liz Bot, I had a mix cassette in my old SUV years ago with perfect circle on it and my kid loved when Magdalena came on. When he bought the album himself when he got older blew my mind, because he did not remember the rides.

I really like this new release!

i love that the conversation has turned to my third favorite band. out of the three bands i was really obsessed with between the ages of 13 and 16, i've now met colin from wire, mark from devo, and jerry via zoom - i really doubt i'll get to meet andy from XTC.

especially with the recent guardian article about his mental illness

@Dana K - It’s not a “good” movie per se, but it IS aggressively 1984 and it made a big impression on me when I was a little Liz. I managed to get my hands on a ripped DVD of it a few years ago since it’s not available streaming and my vhs copy won’t play. The voice of the computer is downright unnerving. It’s an angsty psycho-sexual kinda pro/kinda anti-computer confusing love story and every prop looks like it’s from The Sharper Image. Also features young Virginia Madsen.

I have to see that now.
