Presenting Indian Classical Music from the Indian sub-continent and anywhere else in the world too. We are four different DJs that present from our personal collections with our own introduction to the songs. We broadcast every Saturday 9:00 am to 12:00 on 103.3 FM (NJ,NY and PA).

Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt plays the mohana veena or an improvised slide guitar

It is traditionally held like a Hawaiian guitar, being placed flat in one's lap. The melody is articulated on the left by means of a heavy polished steel cylinder slide without pressing the string down - the weight of the slide is enough to get a clear sound.

Ragam Tanam Pallavi (RTP)[1] is a form of singing in Carnatic music which allows the musicians to improvise to a great extent. It is one of the most complete aspects of Indian classical music, demonstrating the entire gamut of talents and the depth of knowledge of the musician.

She just finished singing Ragam and now is in tanam. Tanam is improvisation to a rhythm. usually it is sung without a rhythmic accompaniment but here there is one

Now it is pallavi, the improvisation of text - karunakara, madhava, madhusudhana

Pandit Basavaraj Rajguru was a vocalist in the kirana gharana and lived between 1920 and 1991

@Jayshri, MS bhajan played in the beginning - was it the movie recording or live concert?

I had in my collection. I am pretty sure it wasn't from the movie. Don't know if it was a live concert though

It must have been a concert. It says Ramanavami. Don't know where
