Halloween season officially started for me yesterday when I heard Killbot play the first Screaming Jay Hawkins tune of the season. As a bonus it was one I had never heard before.

Just as I'm not truly in Connecticut until I see a road sign saying "Construction area, road use restricted, state liability limited".

HA! "Coolest Little Monster" was originally written for and recorded circa 1960 by the late night (and now, alas, late) TV horror movie show host "Zacherley" (actor/singer John Zacherle). And that's our spooky, witty & thoroughly endearing "Zach" sampled on the Electric Frankenstein recording, with the spoken comments. Love it! I was such a Zacherley fan as a kid (yeah, that explains a lot of things, right? LOL) and even once got to meet him. :-))

@ Brian 'D' For Donor Totally true story: Years back, for an article, I interviewed folk-blues-jug band-early jazz performer & historian Geoff Muldaur. A seemingly unused broom was lovingly mounted on his office wall. I asked: In the early-60s, Geoff & some friends located the Wortham Negro Cemetery in Freestone County, TX and the plot they believed that of blues legend Blind Lemon Jefferson. Returning with the broom, they honored Lemon's most famous song -- "See That My Grave Is Kept Clean"!
