He developed an interest in jazz at an early age and clandestinely listened to it during his education at a Qur'anic school. But he calls the radio "the most important school" for him.

They started as a side project of members of Mission of Burma.
7:51 AM		Trey Gunn Kukuriku Raw Power (Surfacings 1) First World Records 1999 A native Texan who now resides in Seattle, Washington, he began his musical life at the age of seven playing classical piano. His interest in music grew through various instruments: electric bass, electric and acoustic guitar, keyboards, and ultimately the touch guitar. Was a member of King Crimson from 1994-2003. Years of working with broad-necked instruments like the Warr guitar affected Gunn physically and he had to seek less damaging playing methods which led him to working with the guitar in a horizontal position across the lap.

7:59 AM		Rain Tree Crow Red Earth (As Summertime Ends) Rain Tree Crow (Remastered) Virgin Catalogue 2009 After "Japan" imploded the early 80's, few expected the band to reunite. They got together for this one release, and promptly split due to the usual 'differences'.

8:40 AM		Serge Bringolf Delire Parties I, II & III Strave Soleil Zeuhl 2011 French drummer and composer, in the tradition of Christian Vander (Magma). Bringolf released three albums under his own name in the early 1980s, two studio and one live. He started out squarely within the Zeuhl tradition, but was developing his own voice. After a promising early career, his musical output trailed off. Originally a double LP released in 1980.

Youn Sun Nah] ACT Music 2014 Michael Gibbs was born in 1937 in Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe). Multi-talented trombonist who also gets credits as conductor, composer, arranger, musical director, producer, and more rarely, keyboardist and drums. He is well known among prog/hard rock fans as orchestral arranger worked with Uriah Heep in mid 70'. Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) is a public radio and television broadcaster, based in the city-state of Hamburg, Germany. NDR has four musical organizations, including two orchestras, a chorus and the "big band" featured on this recording.

9:17 AM		Hiromi Desert on the Moon Brain Telarc 2004 Hiromi Uehara (上原ひろみ) is a Japanese jazz composer and pianist, blending musical genres such as jazz, progressive rock, classical and fusion. After being a jingle writer for a few years for Japanese companies such as Nissan, she enrolled to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she was mentored by Ahmad Jamal.
9:24 AM		Jean-Luc Ponty Imaginary Voyage, Pt. 4 Imaginary Voyage Rhino Atlantic 2005 French jazz musician (violin and keyboards) and composer, born was born into a family of classical musicians in 1942. At the urging of Frank Zappa who wanted him to join their tour, Ponty emigrated with his wife and two young daughters to the United States, settling in Los Angeles.

9:55 AM		The Zappa Early Renaissance Orchestra King Kong Z.E.R.O. - Tolerance Cordelia Records 2016 The Zãþþã Éårlý Rênáissánçê Ørçhêstrå is based in the Seattle area and was formed in 2012 as a result of a joke and a challenge involving Zappa's music and the ukulele. The membership of Z.É.R.Ø. is variable, ranging from a live trio to a virtual 17 piece band in the studio. And that is indeed Ike Willis narrating 'If 6 was 9".
