Patrick Blanco 12:46:39 PM
Speaking of Rock Bottom Have you seen the deplorable condition of Coltrane House in Strawberry Mansion? The Coltrane family has sued to take over from the current coterie of Con Len and Charlatans.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:48:15 PM
Nice info, Patrick, and thank you on Bob Perkins. I didn't know. But I have been following the Coltrane House story. A modern morality play?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:48:58 PM
Mok, I don't know that living room story
Brian D 12:50:15 PM
Love this arrangement where the other horns come in from time to time and make little statements. Such a classic. Great mood

I was on a flight last week and checked out their Jazz playlist. One of the tracks listed was "Freddie Freeloader - Miles Davis feat. John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderly, Wynton Kelly, & Paul Chambers.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:47:18 PM
Nice, GBoss. Yes, from this album
gboss 1:47:19 PM
I was picturing Jimmy Cobb shaking his fist at the screen.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:47:56 PM
Wait! How could they leave him off?!
gboss 1:49:00 PM
He played on the track but wasn't "featured"? I thought it was a very strange way to describe the piece
Christine 1:50:19 PM
It's my calendar in my phone, Jerry. It remembers everything for me (if I add the info)!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:54:09 PM

Mike Constantine 1:59:17 PM
Is there a lock on that Jerry's Room door?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:00:13 PM
No, just a towel under the door and I don't want anyone to miss the fun!
Mike Constantine 2:00:37 PM

Mike Constantine 2:33:39 PM
Yeah...I didn't know that one ....it was excellent
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:36:03 PM

Mike Constantine 2:36:39 PM
Heh...yeah...a few things
Russell Woessner 2:39:16 PM
Sassy!
Brian D 2:41:09 PM
Eddie Hazel was the amazing lead guitar player for Funkadelic. Title track of Maggot Brain was maybe his best known work. Guitar tour de force.
Christine 2:43:51 PM
💜 Sarah Vaughn
Brian D 2:44:40 PM
He was on the first 2-3 Funkadelic lps. Then was in and out of the touring P-Funk bands in late 80s early 90s i think. Did not live long after that. Local omni genre rock band Ween paid tribute to Eddie on their album Chocolate and Cheese with the instrumental Tear For Eddie not long after his passing. They loved P Funk and Eddie. Mickey did Eddie well with his guitar work on that track
Strawberry Alarm Mok 2:46:22 PM
damn Brian great info.
Marcus Watt 2:47:56 PM
Not relevant, but I remember the early days of Third St. with Coltrane albums on the back wall. Narrowest aisles ever.
Mike Constantine 2:49:16 PM
I remember handmade Sun Ra album covers
Marcus Watt 2:50:24 PM
Me too, but I didn't start buying Sunny until 1976.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:52:03 PM
Right on, Russ. Brian, thanks for great info. Marcus, you are absolutely right, the back wall was originally all Coltrane, yes! Then the Sun Ra band was selling me so many hand made Ra albums I had to display them and they eventually moved to the back wall! Great memories both of you!
Mike Constantine 2:53:22 PM
You had to see the back wall as you made your way to the basement as I reember
Christine 2:55:34 PM
Millie Jackson brings the fire! 🔥
Mike Constantine 2:56:02 PM
When I first hear Steve Tibbets on Star's End, I knew there was only one store where I'd find it.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:56:30 PM
Absolutely Christine, always!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:57:01 PM
Mike, there's a new Steve Tibbets release on ECM, not sure what it is all about
Mike Constantine 2:58:40 PM
