@Bud - haha, yeah that sounds about right!

If I'm on the fence about an unknown budget bin album and I see it's from 1982, I'll usually get it.

CARLOS RAMONE 5:11:37 PM
Will a song from GENERIC by FLIPPER make the cut?
Wes Steenson 5:11:42 PM
Any songs about standing in A Queue today? (Reportedly about 4-1/2 miles long as of a few hours ago)
Lizbot (host) 5:12:00 PM
Hi Carlos! possibly...
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 5:12:15 PM
WOWWWWWW this song is actually like combining SO many of my favorite musical ideas it's insane - YER BLOWIN THIS CHEFS MIND
Lizbot (host) 5:12:16 PM
Hi Wes! hmmmmmmmm
CARLOS RAMONE 5:13:01 PM
Downer party played HA HA HA a few s7ndYs ago and it had me smiling the whole day
Lizbot (host) 5:14:25 PM
@Wes - Sounds like you're referring to a queen viewing situation? I haven't paid attention to that this week, what with planning George's 40th birthday party and show and just general September craziness!
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 5:14:26 PM
I think I worked the Adrian Belew show a few years back when I worked at the Sellersville Theater!
Lizbot (host) 5:15:37 PM
@Chef Emeril - Oh, nice! Last time I saw Belew was Ardmore Music Hall a few years ago. A couple other PRB DJs were there too - Thomas from The Worried Waltz and Mickey from The Sprawl. Great show! He is always very energized and fun live!
Andrew Gruen 5:15:38 PM
The first time I ever bought an album was in 1982. It was Pac-Man Fever. The guy at Sam Goody just shook his head.
Lizbot (host) 5:15:44 PM
Hi Andrew Gruen!
Andrew Gruen 5:16:17 PM
Hello there
Wes Steenson 5:16:57 PM
@Chef Emeril Lagasse Yes, Belew will do that. Remember, he’s played with Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Talking Heads, AND Robert Fripp. (I’m still waiting for him to guest on a Donald Fagan song [RIP Walter Becker])
Lizbot (host) 5:16:59 PM
@Andrew - Ha! I bought Flash Beagle, the Snoopy version of Flash Dance in 83 and received some disdainful looks!
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 5:17:47 PM
@wes 👨‍🍳♥️ab
Lizbot (host) 5:18:04 PM
@Carlos - Nice! We'll see what I can scrounge up!
Lizbot (host) 5:18:22 PM
@Chef - WHICH song blew chef's mind?! I didn't see that until now!
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 5:18:42 PM
@liz sweet! Still waiting to be recognized by a DJ in a random public place or show LOL. And @lizbot it was the Adrian Belew song!
Rob from Maryland 🌻 🇺🇦 🦀 5:19:03 PM
Oooh Flipper please?
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 5:19:22 PM
Also did this playlist/chat mobile page change recently? Seems formatted a bit different in a more clean way, I like it!
Lizbot (host) 5:19:35 PM
@Wes - The Waiting by Tom Petty would be a good waiting song, but alas, not from 82! SO CLOSE, being from '81!
Lizbot (host) 5:19:53 PM
George had to hear The Gap Band and I concur. This song is bumping
Wes Steenson 5:20:14 PM
@LizBot - a British expat friend described queueing up to pay one’s respects to a deceased monarch as the Most British Thing Ever.
Lizbot (host) 5:20:34 PM
@Chef - A little bit, yes. A few tweaks were made from the tech end!
CARLOS RAMONE 5:20:40 PM
@ chef..enjoy shows at sellersville..10 minutes after show I am home
CARLOS RAMONE 5:21:08 PM
Shone Knife there a few years ago was great
Lizbot (host) 5:21:25 PM
@Wes.- I thought the The Most British Thing Ever was the biscuit aisle at Tesco's
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 5:24:20 PM
@carlos glad to hear! One of the best venues around!
Wes Steenson 5:24:59 PM
@LizBot - I commented to them that the closest thing in my memory in terms of the American equivalent was when John F Kennedy lay in state in the Capitol rotunda for 3 days.
Lizbot (host) 5:25:02 PM
@Carlos / Chef - I am not close enough to make that my go-to venue, but I was JUST looking at my photos of Shonen Knife at Underground Arts because they popped up on my FB memory machine thing from this week in 2014!
CARLOS RAMONE 5:25:32 PM
Am I in the pics?? I was there too!!
CARLOS RAMONE 5:26:48 PM
@ Liz..UA reminds me of City Gardens a bit
Wes Steenson 5:27:05 PM
(I was 27)
Pethiieeeeee 5:28:23 PM
Yay! I remembered!!! Im ready for 1982 goodness
Lizbot (host) 5:29:00 PM
PETH!
Lizbot (host) 5:29:45 PM
@Peth - You remember it better than I, I'm sure, and yet these albums shaped me. I think it was around the first time I was aware of new music!
Casey Leigh 5:29:59 PM
Casey the Delivery Driver checking in for old times sake, but now in Los Angeles!
Casey Leigh 5:30:24 PM
What up, LizBot!!!
Lizbot (host) 5:30:30 PM
@Carlos - Ah! I wonder! I was right in the front, admiring Shonen Knife's mod Mary Quant-looking dresses! I got there during the Amanda X set
Lizbot (host) 5:30:41 PM
Hello Casey!
Lizbot (host) 5:31:02 PM
@Casey - I enjoy following yr travels!
Pethiieeeeee 5:31:11 PM
My memory is the worst, but I was definitely tuning in to wprb in 82!
Wes Steenson 5:31:18 PM
Anyone remember when some vandals were going around Devon PA and painting over the N in local signage so it read DEVO?
Casey Leigh 5:31:24 PM
Love this song, btw. I was lucky enough to see Devo at Desert Daze in 2019. They are SO tight
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:32:17 PM
Getting to listen to Lizbot! I've been in the field the last few Thursdays and missed your show, truly missed it. My Listen to Zizbot alarm goes off but I simply couldn't.
Lizbot (host) 5:32:22 PM
@Pethiieeeee - I think these days (and probably always) I remember events in my life by what albums had just come out. Sometimes my memory is in the toilet, but a song brings it back
Lizbot (host) 5:32:33 PM
Hi JimmyCarter IsMy Hero!
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:33:21 PM
Hi Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 5:34:15 PM
@Casey - Nice! I REALLY wanna go to DEVOtional in Cleveland this weekend! A friend will be talking Gerry Casale to Gerry's childhood home to record a short video of Gerry talking about growing up in the Cleveland burbs in the 60s and 70s. The house is on the market now, so they have access! He's gonna show the vid at DEVOtional
Casey Leigh 5:34:19 PM
I wasn't released until 1985, but I am here for this playlist so far!
Lizbot (host) 5:35:23 PM
"And now you find yourself in '82"!
Lizbot (host) 5:36:03 PM
@Casey- haha, good year too! Maybe one day I'll feature '85 and then go "back to the future"
Lizbot (host) 5:36:46 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - Sorry you couldn't make it to the airwaves recently but so glad you're here now!
Lizbot (host) 5:37:33 PM
@Wes - WHAT???!!!! OH MY GOD, WHOEVER DID THAT IS MY HERO!!!! WHEN?! WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN?! All I know about Devon is the horse show, which is not my bag
Wes Steenson 5:39:22 PM
RIP John Wetton. He made prog so much more listenable with the warm quality of his voice. And an excellent bassist as well.
CARLOS RAMONE 5:39:44 PM
@ Wes. I remember seeing it on 202 right after you got off 422..near where the Vallet Forge Music Fair used to be
Wes Steenson 5:40:40 PM
RUSH on WPRB?! (Wesley clutches pearls, faints away…)
Lizbot (host) 5:41:06 PM
My older brother got his license just as he was entering a heavy RUSH phase, so I always associate Rush with him driving me to and from soccer practices and other driving errands that my parents relegating to him, and him BURNING THE CLUTCH on our Subaru station wagon to this song because he was treating it like a sports car! I never got into Rush very much, but I've always liked Subdivisions
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:41:16 PM
I'm glad I'm here now too
Lizbot (host) 5:41:53 PM
@Wes- See explanation! haha, I defend this song forever. I like to murmur [subdivisions] under my breath thanks to this song
Lizbot (host) 5:42:00 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - Welcome!
jimbeaux 5:42:13 PM
Rush was like church for rural hessians like meeeeeee
Lizbot (host) 5:42:18 PM
@Carlos - whoa! I wanna see photos of that!
Wes Steenson 5:42:24 PM
@LizBot - see Carlos Ramone’s post - corroboration.
Lizbot (host) 5:43:02 PM
@Wes - I'm so glad I saw John Wetton play with a reformed U.K. at Zoellner Arts Center in Bethlehem for NEARFest in like 2010/11 or so! He was GREAT
Wes Steenson 5:44:07 PM
@LizBit - I recall you playing SUBDIVISIONS previously on ++good!
Lizbot (host) 5:44:14 PM
speaking of Belew...
Casey Leigh 5:44:23 PM
Nice!! I was lucky enough to catch the recent Rush performance at the South Park 25th Anniversary concert! They were as tight as ever
Lizbot (host) 5:44:37 PM
@Wes - Indeed! I do slip it in there on occasion!
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 5:44:43 PM
You were there @casey?? Woah!
Lizbot (host) 5:45:09 PM
Hello jimbeaux! haha, I think my brother felt that way too!
Casey Leigh 5:46:28 PM
yes, chef!!
Casey Leigh 5:46:50 PM
I only hope that they eventually release the full concert, as it was over 3hrs in person
Wes Steenson 5:47:14 PM
… and Tony Levin. Another fine bassist.
Andrew Gruen 5:47:24 PM
the fastbacks play five of their favorites came out in 82. just sayin'
Wes Steenson 5:47:53 PM
Ho! Ho! Ho!
George Korein 5:51:58 PM
I’m in a scenic church graveyard as per Hattie’s request
Lizbot (host) 5:52:21 PM
Had to play Sugarhill Gang. The story behind this is he grew up watching the old "cowboy and Indian" movies but always identified more with and rooted for the native Americans
Lizbot (host) 5:52:35 PM
Hi Birthday George!
George Korein 5:53:07 PM
Hello! Nuala is sniffing graves

Pethiieeeeee 5:54:04 PM
Mesopotamia! I got this ep for Christmas that year!
Lizbot (host) 5:54:12 PM
@Andrew Gruen - I'm slow to grab other tracks right now cuz I'm on like 3 hours sleep both last night and the night before! I hope you forgive me if I don't get to all the requests! I'll try!
Lizbot (host) 5:54:23 PM
There's a lotta ruins in Mesopotamia!
Pethiieeeeee 5:54:23 PM
Happy Birthday, George!!
Casey Leigh 5:54:24 PM
Yessss love me some B-52's
Casey Leigh 5:54:36 PM
Especially when its a song thats new to me!
Lizbot (host) 5:54:43 PM
@Pethieeeee - I can't help but sing along to this in my best Fred voice
Wes Steenson 5:55:27 PM
The original recording of the Apache instrumental dates to 1960, by the Shadows in the UK. A cover by guitarist Jørgen Ingmann reached #2 in the US charts in 1961.
Pethiieeeeee 5:55:37 PM
Yesssss! My Fred voice is less of a strain on the chords than my Kate and Cindy voices
Lizbot (host) 5:56:22 PM
@Casey / Pethieeeee - I am so glad I saw them live a buncha times. Their current tour is supposedly their last but they aren't coming to Philly this time, just AC. Last time I saw them was the previous tour when they came to The Mann with OMB and Berlin and I brought my friend for her 40th and we managed to get photos with Kate, Cindy and Fred!
Wes Steenson 5:56:31 PM
I CAN’T HEAR YOU (how’s my Fred voice?)
jimbeaux 5:58:49 PM
Happy dang birthday George!!!🗯️🗯️🗯️
Ossy Hyouka 5:58:57 PM
The Mesoptamia album cover, looks like Tom Tom Club's "Genius of Love" cover of quite similar artystyle, and was a year before B-52's song
Casey Leigh 5:59:25 PM
I love that! I saw them when I was only FIVE at the Mann. My mom took me to get my hair done up in a beehive and when my dad put me up on the platform between the seats and the pit, Fred stopped singing and pointed out my sweet dance moves - This was 1990!
CARLOS RAMONE 6:01:26 PM
@liz..any chance you were at B 52/Ramones show at Philly Zoo in early 80’s.
jimbeaux 6:01:30 PM
Casey that is amazing...
Casey Leigh 6:01:37 PM
Happy Happy Joy Joy to you, George!!
Casey Leigh 6:05:35 PM
Off topic, but I just have to share that I was Of Montreal for the first time last night and even if you aren't a fan, do yourselves a favour and check out a show cos it was so damn beautiful
Casey Leigh 6:05:49 PM
saw* not was
Wes Steenson 6:05:58 PM
For those listeners who had 5:30-6:00 on your DoublePlusGood Sparks Bingo card - you are winners!
Lizbot (host) 6:06:33 PM
Hi Ossy! Didn't see you there while I was on mic!
J Bird 6:06:56 PM
Haha, I remember Devon sign always being crossed out, it s been awhile though.... you successfully restored my faith in humanity. A-F'N-MAZING selections..
Lizbot (host) 6:07:03 PM
@Ossy - Oh yeah, now that you mention it... Maybe there was some influence there
Ossy Hyouka 6:07:06 PM
Noticing songs of 1982❤‍🔥, I got a crate load of fire hits: Cutie Pie(One Way), Jump to It(Arethra), Keep On(D-Train), Betcha(Evelyn Champagne King), Girl Is Mine (Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney) 777-9311(The Time), Forget Me Nots(Patrice Rushen) etc!
Lizbot (host) 6:07:35 PM
Hi J Bird! Thanks! I'm glad the legacy of the Devon signs lives on!
Ossy Hyouka 6:08:20 PM
Hi Liz! Yeah, at the time I arrived, you were on mic and know you won't be able to see who came to the chat and will have to wait til you're finished!
Wes Steenson 6:08:55 PM
@J Bird - thanks for further corroboration!
Wes Steenson 6:10:35 PM
Hey Laurie Anderson - your phone’s ringing! ☎️
Lizbot (host) 6:11:59 PM
@Carlos - I WISH! I only heard about that through show through old air-checks! Were you there?!
Lizbot (host) 6:12:41 PM

Rob from Maryland 🌻 🇺🇦 🦀 6:13:36 PM
And happy birthday, George!
Lizbot (host) 6:15:03 PM
@Casey - Oh my god, I LOVE that story! Your mom ruled for doing that! I love that Fred got a kick outta it! I saw him do his Just Fred punk album at Silk City 20 years ago and there was like 20 ppl there, but at least we got to talk and dance with him afterwards!
Lizbot (host) 6:16:54 PM
"Old, are you ridiculed and fumed away?" Is this how you feel now, George?
Lizbot (host) 6:17:24 PM
@Rob - KB celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Dreaming's release this week toO!
CARLOS RAMONE 6:17:44 PM
@liz. Zoo show I was there. Just as many people outside gates as people inside. Whenever we took kids to Zoo I would always bring it up..while a dead milkmen song played in my head

Ossy Hyouka 6:24:08 PM
Nice cover of Diana Ross's 1976's version!
Lizbot (host) 6:25:10 PM
@Carlos - OH my gosh, it's driving me nuts that I'm blanking on the name of the DJ who hyped that Zoo B-52s show on air on 80s XPN...I remember him hyping it and I listened to a buncha his air-checks a few years ago, including him hyping that show! He is long dead. He moved around stations...anyone remember?
Lizbot (host) 6:25:17 PM
@Ossy - Yes!
Ossy Hyouka 6:27:29 PM
Those art submissions I'm hearing about for the fall drive season, can people submit more than one art?
Lizbot (host) 6:28:11 PM
Saw Adam doing his thing at the TLA a few years ago and there were the drunkest ladies in the front row just yelling all manner of amorous declarations to him the entire show. He was doing a pirate look and his makeup melted off by the midway point
George Korein 6:28:13 PM
Ossy: I love 777-9311 and Forget Me Nots
james heil 6:28:42 PM
I had to call some friends and tell them that your literally destroying radio waves.

Hi James Heil! haha, thanks?! I hope that's a good thing!
Number 6 6:29:45 PM
Probably!
Lizbot (host) 6:29:50 PM
@GEorge - How's the graveyard scene?
George Korein 6:30:08 PM
Thankfully I am not ridiculed and fumed away. People are kind and merciful
james heil 6:30:22 PM
Definitely spectacular!!!
George Korein 6:30:25 PM
I have returned from the graveyard 🪦
Lizbot (host) 6:30:49 PM
@George - Back from the dead and it's not even Halloween yet
George Korein 6:30:51 PM
There were very very ornate St. Bridget crosses
Number 6 6:31:25 PM
Actually, the DJ knows all and sees all. It's always "technical difficulties".:)
Lizbot (host) 6:31:57 PM
@George - I hope you observed spooky old graveyard in the fall etiquette by murmuring "They're coming to get you, Barrrrbara"
George Korein 6:32:01 PM
Honey you’re my one and only, so pay me with a hoagie
Lizbot (host) 6:32:28 PM
@Number 6 - Ah, yes! That's definitely it!
Lizbot (host) 6:32:45 PM
@George - ha! What if it's a grinder?
Number 6 6:33:16 PM
Haven't heard Thomas Dolby in ages!
George Korein 6:33:25 PM
“They’re coming to get you, Barbara”? No one’s going to Fall for that
Ossy Hyouka 6:33:32 PM
Hi George, yeah 777-9311 and Forget Me Knots are all time 80's hits and happy birthday!
Lizbot (host) 6:33:34 PM
@GEorge - the rhyme works better if you pronounce "only" with a nice drawn-out Philly accent triphthong on that O
Lizbot (host) 6:34:26 PM
@GEorge - It's spookin' season, and you don't know what impressionable schoolchildren are hanging in that graveyard!
Ossy Hyouka 6:34:30 PM
Liz - I think Carrie White is coming from the graveyard, along with her so scary radical and monstrous mother!
George Korein 6:35:08 PM
Only the hoagie know how I feel tonight
George Korein 6:35:44 PM
No one is going to autumn for that
Number 6 6:36:24 PM
The Phila. Neon Museum has a show about the 70s and 80s alt. music scene with a lot of posters from long gone groups.
George Korein 6:36:32 PM
Beware… You don’t know what impressionable school children are hanging in the graveyard
George Korein 6:36:47 PM
Or who hung them
Lizbot (host) 6:36:51 PM
@George - is the grinder the melted/baked hoagie? Cuz if so, your sammy's gonna stop the world and melt with you
Number 6 6:37:36 PM
I think that it is only on until Sunday, but is well worth checking out.
Lizbot (host) 6:37:40 PM
@George - oh no! Straight outta Jude the Obscure! Stop getting all Thomas Hardy up in there! The crows will gather and things'll get ominous right quick!
Lizbot (host) 6:38:01 PM
@George - I like Thomas Hardy's album, "Straight Outta Christchurch"
J Bird 6:38:18 PM
I think I awkwardly unhooked my first bra to this song, 40 years later i still do it awkwardly.
Andrew Gruen 6:38:27 PM
this show is a huge childhood nostalgia trip for me
Ossy Hyouka 6:38:35 PM
At least put melted cheese on that melted hoagie and that graveyard kids thing, sounds like a "Children Of The Corn" thing
J Bird 6:38:59 PM
Same here Andrew....
George Korein 6:39:44 PM
If you listen carefully, you can hear the children murmur… “Karl hung us”
George Korein 6:40:11 PM
“Karl Hungus hung us”
Lizbot (host) 6:40:12 PM
I'm going hard on The Associates because this is one of my first thoughts when I think '82 - Billy MacKenzie and his LUSH AF BLUE VELVET plush sofa and oversized potted plants
Lizbot (host) 6:40:55 PM
@ANdrew Gruen / J Bird - Glad to take this trip back with you both!
Lizbot (host) 6:41:56 PM
@George - That's just a remark Hugh made. Karl is not Hugh Mungus
Number 6 6:42:22 PM
The Neon Museum has at least one B52s poster there and many lesser known groups. Also videos with interviews by Ken Kweder and others.
Lizbot (host) 6:42:24 PM
@J Bird - haha! Bras are complex and intentionally vexing!
George Korein 6:42:47 PM
How are you gonna keep down at the farm once they’ve seen Hugh Mungus?
CARLOS RAMONE 6:44:26 PM
@#6. Thanks for Neon museum tip. Found something to do this weekend before exhibit closes sunday
George Korein 6:44:37 PM
You got a problem?
George Korein 6:44:45 PM
Yo, I’ll solve it
George Korein 6:44:59 PM
Check out the beat
Ossy Hyouka 6:44:59 PM
Scary funny, I was playing Vanilla Ice in the morning!
George Korein 6:45:19 PM
While my DJ revolves it
Number 6 6:45:23 PM
Bowie & Queen!
Lizbot (host) 6:46:04 PM
@Number 6 - I have been wanting to go to The Neon Museum! I have a photographer friend who specializes in double exposures and got some great photos there.
George Korein 6:47:06 PM
Ossy, I seldom encounter people listening to Vanilla Ice in this day and age, but i that was one of the first albums I got excited about
Lizbot (host) 6:47:15 PM
@George - The kids are all gonna be talking about the slender mungus in graveyard, echoing the tones and turning tail
Pethiieeeeee 6:47:37 PM
@Number 6–that’s hot—unhooking bras to the Associates?
Number 6 6:48:35 PM
@Lizbot. I am a member there. I love it. Always was fascinated by neon signs.
George Korein 6:48:59 PM
Slender mungus is the heir to slender man
Lizbot (host) 6:49:14 PM
@Ossy - I still can't totally divorce Under Pressure from Ice Ice Baby and I grew up on the former! Fie, Vanilla Ice! A hex upon thee!
Lizbot (host) 6:49:25 PM
@George - ooooh, the fungus thickens
CARLOS RAMONE 6:49:55 PM
A girl at a bar asked my for my sign…I blinked and answered neon
Lizbot (host) 6:50:05 PM
@Number 6 - I had to pick an element to write a report about in elementary school science and of course I picked neon!
Number 6 6:50:18 PM
Cool!
Number 6 6:50:56 PM
I have a couple neon signs and old tubes.
Number 6 6:52:19 PM
I like old and obsolete tech.
Pethiieeeeee 6:53:17 PM
This song always gets me for some reason—-Euuuu rooo paa
Lizbot (host) 6:54:17 PM
@Number 6 - The now sadly gone Oak Lane Diner had a GREAT neon sign of a mud with wavy steam lines right where North Broad Street turns into Old York Rd. I wonder if the museum got that sign..I HOPE someone preserved it!
Lizbot (host) 6:55:08 PM
@Pethiieeeee - Yeah, I had a well-loved copy of that album and Europa was my favorite track!
Number 6 6:55:26 PM
@Lizbot. They command money now, I'm sure someone saved it.
Lizbot (host) 6:55:39 PM
@Number 6 - I really hope so!
Lizbot (host) 6:56:19 PM
@Carlos Ramone - ACK! I JUST REMEMBERED The 80s DJ I was talking about earlier who hyped the zoo B-52s show - LEE PARIS!
Number 6 6:56:31 PM
The museum owner has rescued and restored quite a few.
Ossy Hyouka 6:58:06 PM
Liz - I used ice ice baby for some Mario Racing wii switch game, in an ice themed world of Rosalina. Plus, I heard ice ice in that teen-adult comedy movie, 13 going on 30 !
CARLOS RAMONE 6:58:27 PM
@ LIZ i remember the name Lee Paris..at 9 e
CARLOS RAMONE 6:59:04 PM
Point wasn’t he on a mainstream station that attempted t9 go punk?
Pethiieeeeee 6:59:10 PM
Yep, “Europa…” was my favorite song on that album too!
Lizbot (host) 7:02:44 PM
@Carlos - Yes! Lee Paris talked so FAST! He was always hepped up and full of enthusiastic album recommendations!
Lizbot (host) 7:02:59 PM
@Pethiieeeee - music twins!
Anne Lopez 7:03:45 PM
Hi Lizbot!
Rob from Maryland 🌻 🇺🇦 🦀 7:04:01 PM
Happy 1982 everybody! We are heading out for a nocturnal insect class at the local Audubon society.
Anne Lopez 7:04:15 PM
I am loving this show so much!
Rob from Maryland 🌻 🇺🇦 🦀 7:04:18 PM
@Lizbot, this was a great show!
Anne Lopez 7:04:36 PM
Happy 1982!
Lizbot (host) 7:04:59 PM
Hi Anne! It's been a while! So glad you're here!
Anne Lopez 7:05:53 PM
Me too! I've been listening but haven't been able to get to the chat.
Lizbot (host) 7:06:16 PM
Thanks Rob! Happy insecting! I was at the Audubon Society's Discovery Center just last night and saw a great blue heron!
Lizbot (host) 7:07:24 PM
@Carlos - Lee moved around stations a few times. He was on XPN before it changed to a folkier format, then he moved on to another station, I'm blanking on which one. He also had a little local access tv record review show that was good fun
Lizbot (host) 7:07:32 PM
god I love this song
Lizbot (host) 7:08:20 PM
@Anne - I'm glad you made your way here! I am often listening to the station when I am driving or unable to chat but I'm out there during other shows! Happy 82!
Ossy Hyouka 7:09:49 PM
A Night to Remember(Shalamar) and Mama Used To Say(Junior)....more classic 82 sounds!
Lizbot (host) 7:10:58 PM
@Ossy - oh yeah! I showed my daughter 13 Going on 30 a few years back. Sorta a girl version of Big, which I saw at a sleepover as a kid! My husband's aunt did set design for 13 Going on 30. Look for her in the credits - Heidi Baumgarten!
Lizbot (host) 7:11:47 PM
@Ossy - Just showed the kid Juno a few nights ago and she said "I think I've seen that actress before..." about the Vanessa character and I reminded her she had in 13 going on 30!
CARLOS RAMONE 7:12:56 PM
@ LIZ..great show thanks..Feliz Hispanic Heritage month to all those who it applies to.
CARLOS RAMONE 7:13:19 PM
Go listen to some EL VEZ!!
Lizbot (host) 7:14:05 PM
Thank you, Carlos! And Happy Hispanic Heritage month! I think you just gave me an idea for another September show!
J Bird 7:15:20 PM
I was waiting to see if you were gonna play it!!
CARLOS RAMONE 7:15:21 PM
Straightjackets..Los Ramones..Manic Hispanic??
Lizbot (host) 7:15:44 PM
@J Bird - you know I would!
J Bird 7:16:31 PM
Ear porn!! I can't stop listening!
Ossy Hyouka 7:16:48 PM
Liz- Hahaha, my school at Rowan played 13 going on 30 for Valentines Day before the pandemic, non stop on a wide lobby screen and for 80s movie week. Jenny Garner is cute in that movie!
Ossy Hyouka 7:17:14 PM
Sounds kind alike Art of Noise, Moments In Love
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:18:22 PM
I made it to the chat! Been listening to this absolutely stellar show for a while though!
Lizbot (host) 7:18:27 PM
@Carlos - Los Plugz! Tito Larriva! Yma Sumac! Juana Molina! Azul 29! Too many to list!
Lizbot (host) 7:18:56 PM
Hello Addie! I'm glad you're here! How's the skunk stank sitch in yr house?
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:19:39 PM
It’s not too bad! The dog must not have gotten a direct hit!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:20:14 PM

Number 6 7:20:43 PM
I like Laurie's tune about the airplane.
Lizbot (host) 7:21:57 PM
@Addie - Glad it's phew and not too pew! (here on p.u. radio!)
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:23:25 PM
😂
Number 6 7:24:02 PM
Gotta have The Cure!
Lizbot (host) 7:25:27 PM
@Number 6 - From the Air! I love that one, and actually Mr. Lif sampled the hook from it for a song he called Home of the Brave (like Laurie's concert film of the same name, which featured none other than Adrian Belew, who we heard from earlier on this show tonight!)
Lizbot (host) 7:26:10 PM
@Ossy - She was really good in that. That role was sorta made for her!
Pethiieeeeee 7:27:52 PM
Oooh yessss, Wax and Wane
Lizbot (host) 7:28:13 PM
Gettin that spooky hanging in a graveyard goth teen vibe George evidentially craves
Lizbot (host) 7:28:24 PM
evidently!
Number 6 7:29:03 PM
Love The Twins! Although they aren't actually.
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 7:29:17 PM
The devil bites dirty…
Lizbot (host) 7:29:36 PM
@Pethiieeeee - He never returned from the old church graveyard he was hanging in at the beginning of this program. I think the spirits took whisked him into the ether
Number 6 7:31:36 PM
Reminds me, I've been meaning to play some Chris & Cosey.
Pethiieeeeee 7:32:18 PM
@Liz Bot -That often happens when you turn 40.
Pethiieeeeee 7:32:50 PM
Ah, another great song!!
Number 6 7:33:32 PM
So much great music, so little time!
Lizbot (host) 7:33:50 PM
@DTO / Number 6 / Pethiieeeee - I saw Elizabeth Fraser touring with My Bloody Valentine a few years back! Was great to see her live, but I would've loved to have seen Cocteau Twins
Dennis Lingg 7:34:32 PM
Hey Liz! Been crazy busy but glad I got to hear Laurie while driving. Just jumping on the chat to wish George a happy bday!
Pethiieeeeee 7:34:48 PM
I never got to see them either. Would have been a sonic delight
Lizbot (host) 7:34:53 PM
@Pethiieeeee - It's one of the risks of aging. It's like that movie, Logan's Run, except ghouls usher you outta the graveyard on a ghost bus
Lizbot (host) 7:35:04 PM
Hi Dennis!
Lizbot (host) 7:35:23 PM
@Pethiieeeee - One of my regrets!
George Korein 7:35:36 PM
Thanks for the birthday wishes! I was on an info session with Hattie so I was away from the chat
Lizbot (host) 7:35:59 PM
@Dennis - I caught up on the pod! The ONLY one I haven't heard now is Hollywood Shuffle cuz I never saw it and I wanna watch first before I listen
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 7:36:16 PM
Dan Ruccia played a great cover of Eminence Front yesterday.
Lizbot (host) 7:37:35 PM
@DTO - oh wow, I gotta check that out. I like Tomorrow Is an Octopus but I can't always catch it. That song has a lot of potential for interesting covers
Pethiieeeeee 7:37:37 PM
Another favorite of mine, @Liz Bot! Big Electric Cat—-It’s got such a hot mess video
Ossy Hyouka 7:37:55 PM
Liz - True, Liz. From an uncool girl to a beautiful popular lady in that movie!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:38:24 PM
⚡️🐈‍⬛
Lizbot (host) 7:38:56 PM
@Pethiieeeee - Wow, I don't think I ever saw the video! Saw Belew do it live on Penn's Landing a buncha years ago - 2005ish?- on a double-bill with They Might Be Giants. He was wearing reflective shades and being a big dork, as I should be
Lizbot (host) 7:39:50 PM
@Ossy - It's def a good feel-good sleepover movie and the thriller scene is great, but also I like any movie where a diorama holds magical powers!
Don Hamp 7:40:45 PM
Forget the song I want to know how he survived that album cover
Dennis Lingg 7:40:47 PM
@liz Awesome! We’re excited about our latest one on My Bodyguard ,
Lizbot (host) 7:41:12 PM
Hi Don Hamp!
David Stafford 7:41:24 PM
Well , I’m sure enjoying this. I wonder if there’s any Gang of Four in the future…. I’m always partial to call me up.
Lizbot (host) 7:41:50 PM
Hi David S - I will see what I can do, but I'm running outta time! Glad you're enjoying it!
Lizbot (host) 7:42:25 PM
@Don - ha! He loves rhinos, evidently!
George Korein 7:42:30 PM
Classic awesome beat
Mary Jones 7:44:51 PM
Hi LizBot! Great show of course! And happy birthday to George!
George Korein 7:45:08 PM
Thanks Mary!
George Korein 7:45:51 PM
The beat in the beginning of the Weather Report was copied for “The Big Idea” by Sean Malone
Mary Jones 7:46:12 PM
A song that appears in Valley Girl!
George Korein 7:46:14 PM
Which was in turn copied for “The Gift-Wrapped Crab” by Thoughtstreams
Lizbot (host) 7:46:44 PM
Hi Mary! Thanks! YES! Sparks got some songs into a few 80s movies. Remember Rollercoaster!?
Lizbot (host) 7:47:24 PM
@George - hmmmmmmm, I had no idea xThoughtstreamsx was indirectly influenced by Weather Report!
Number 6 7:47:41 PM
If you have a part deux, you must play some Gary Numan!
George Korein 7:47:51 PM
Going for night dog walk
Mary Jones 7:48:01 PM
I never saw Rollercoaster, I only know of it from the documentary
TAndy 7:49:44 PM
I luv this song oh HEY number 6
TAndy 7:50:09 PM
I heard your show yesterday on my way to Dreamland, it was appropriate with some of the ambience
Lizbot (host) 7:50:12 PM
@Dennis - OMG, My Bodyguard! I rewatched Meatballs for the first time in 30+ years when Tom & Julie covered in for Double Threat and that set me off on a "what else did Chris Makepeace do?" tear, which led me to My Bodyguard, which I immediately watched! What an odd concept! My bodyguard can beat up YR bodyguard! It's one removed from My dad can beat up YOUR dad!
Ossy Hyouka 7:50:17 PM
Got some future 82 suggestions: - "Over Like a Fat Rat"(Fonda Rae), "I Want to Thank You"(Alicia Myers) "Circles(Atlantic Starr)" "Inside Out" (Odyssey)
Number 6 7:50:27 PM
Hi TA!
Ossy Hyouka 7:50:53 PM

TAndy 7:51:32 PM
I really missed a whole 1982 special :(

Wes Steenson 7:52:03 PM

TAndy 7:52:35 PM
FINALLY someone gets it! 🥰
Lizbot (host) 7:52:40 PM
@J Bird - Thanks! haha, I hope I didn't resurrect too many painful adolescent memories!
Lizbot (host) 7:53:00 PM
@TAndy- Yes! I remember Tandy well!
Mary Jones 7:53:15 PM
My Bodyguard is an odd kind of movie they don’t really make anymore, not at least in ten years. I think the episode turned out well.
Lizbot (host) 7:53:22 PM
@Wes - haha, keeping score at home again!
Mary Jones 7:53:32 PM
Also, definitely watch Hollywood Shuffle! Great movie!
Don Hamp 7:53:40 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:54:00 PM

Don Hamp 7:54:33 PM
It there to feed my face
Lizbot (host) 7:54:58 PM
@Mary - I really enjoyed that movie, and yeah, it's definitely a sort of undefinable and earnest movie
Wes Steenson 7:55:02 PM
Oh, thank you dear @LizBot for playing one of my absolute favourite XTC songs - Senses Working Overtime! With Dave Gregory’s beautiful Rickenbacker 12 string! ♥️😻
Lizbot (host) 7:55:45 PM
@Don Hamp - We will see! Maybe more 1982? Maybe autumn theme. Maybe Hispanic artists to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month
TAndy 7:56:06 PM
💙 have a good evening Lizbot, hope I'll be awake more for the next one!
Lizbot (host) 7:56:49 PM
Man, I DEFINITELY needed at least another hour for this theme!

Thanks for hanging, everyone! I wish I'd had more time today to pull more music and fill all your requests! If I carry this theme over into next week I promise get more of those!
