bot here!
Bud Burroughs 5:03:30 PM
Hello Lizbot! Sarah Jarosz sang an amazing version of this backed up by the Punch Brothers on Friday night at the Philly Folk Festival.
Lizbot (host) 5:03:35 PM
Hi Bud!
richard lyons 5:03:42 PM
helllooo! Such a good song!!!
Lizbot (host) 5:04:19 PM
@Bud - Oh nice! I had no idea! The timing is fitting then! I haven't listened to this in ages. Did you see PRB's own Dana K there?
Lizbot (host) 5:04:29 PM
Hi Richard! Yes!
unoclay 5:04:37 PM
Dr. House reporting for duty
unoclay 5:04:56 PM
Wilson, dont be an idiot
Bud Burroughs 5:05:19 PM
I don't think I'd recognize Dana K, unfortunately. I wore a 'prb shirt a couple days, but didn't see any others.
Bud Burroughs 5:05:55 PM
Here's a video of Sarah and the guys doing the song a few weeks ago... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXJUoQdLCpQ
Lizbot (host) 5:06:03 PM
Hello unoclay - Yeah, it definitely also calls to mind that aerial panning shot of Lake Carnegie or whatever Princeton body of water that was they used in the opening of House. It looked like Lake Carnegie to me, after years of driving over it to park in the garage
unoclay 5:07:01 PM
Im on the final season. taking my time with it., Not my typical cup of tv tea, but House is surprisingly moving and philosphoical
Lizbot (host) 5:07:44 PM
@Bud - Apparently there was a listener wearing a Jon Solomon's 25-hr holiday marathon shirt with a graphic of Jon's parents napping on the studio sofa. Dana got a photo of that guy!
unoclay 5:07:58 PM
plus i never knew how hot all doctors apparently are
Lizbot (host) 5:08:05 PM
@Bud - Readie Righteous sometimes goes to the PFF too
Bud Burroughs 5:08:51 PM
Oh yeah, I saw that photo on the WPRB facebook feed!
Lizbot (host) 5:09:20 PM
@unoclay - haha, yeah that's a show I occasionally catch in reruns but never watched in order. I remember watching it for a chunk of 2008, but haven't seen it in ages.
Stephen Higgins 5:09:29 PM
Hi Liz...this version of Sunshine is sooo cool!
Lizbot (host) 5:10:45 PM
@unoclay - The first thing I think of with Teardrop is when it came out hearing it for the first time from a record store stereo (Repo in Bryn Mawr) and deciding I needed the Massive Attack singles box set. I listened to that song quite a bit in my dorm
Lizbot (host) 5:11:46 PM
Hello Stephen H! Yeah, I looooove Rotary Connection's covers! They have so many great covers that they really make their own. I don't like when a cover is trying to sound exactly like the original. BONUS: SOARING voice of Minnie Riperton!
Lizbot (host) 5:12:16 PM
@Bud - yeah! Dana shared it and it wound up on the prb page
Bud Burroughs 5:12:40 PM
The previous weekend I took a slightly longer trek to Fairport Convention's Cropredy Festival in England. It was every bit as fantastic as I'd always imagined it would be.
Stephen Higgins 5:14:24 PM
Love this Minnie Classic! Maya Rudolph's mommy. :)
Lizbot (host) 5:16:28 PM
@Bud - oh WOW! I almost went to England this summer but I would've been there in June for the Words and Music festival in Kent inside a 500 year-old church ruin! It was put on by Rob Pursey and Amelia Fletcher of Heavenly/Talulah Gosh/Catenary Wires. I ended up not being able to book it because it conflicted with a camp my daughter wanted to attend in Michigan, so instead I drove to the Upper Peninsula!
Bud Burroughs 5:18:35 PM
Well that sounds like it would have been amazing! Does that happen annually? Hopefully you'll get there.
Lizbot (host) 5:19:48 PM
@Stephen Higgins - Yay, Maya's family is pretty talented! Her mom, Minnie, and Maya herself of course (and Maya can sing too- when I hear her sing occasionally in comedy sketches and movies), and of course her husband is PT Anderson!
Lizbot (host) 5:19:56 PM
@Stephen H - I am fascinated by PT's dad who was a Cleveland local access late-night horror movie host known as "Ghoulardi"! He moved his family including young Paul Thomas to LA to make it big and he never did- Sounds like something outta one of PT's movies!
Lizbot (host) 5:22:18 PM
@Bud - Not annually, but it's not the first. It was the first since the pandemic but I think they might do it next year - I hope so, anyway! Rob Pursey loves poetry and collaborated with a walking poet named Nancy Gaffield for a music/poetry piece he put out last year. She read at the fest in June
Stephen Higgins 5:25:37 PM
I didn't know "PT" was her hubby...yea, that's quite the talent pool!
Lizbot (host) 5:25:59 PM
@Stephen - For real! Power couple!
Stephen Higgins 5:26:34 PM
Wow, this Copeland song is sooo Tim Buckley!
Lizbot (host) 5:27:00 PM
@Stephen - I don't care much about which celebs are paired off with which other celebs, but in their case, I admire them both and really like the idea of those two personalities together!
Lizbot (host) 5:27:15 PM
@Stephen - oh yeah...now that you mention it
Lizbot (host) 5:28:33 PM
@Bud - The Fairport Convention fest sounds amazing! How long were you in the U.K. for? I see Steve Hackett played - It seems he's always at the Keswick and I think he played The Scottish Rite in Collingswood a few years ago too
Stephen Higgins 5:28:49 PM
I love Anderson's films and Maya is a terrific actress, not too mention beautiful. :)
DSM 5:29:22 PM
Hey Lizbot! This is lovely, I’ve never heard this album, just the later ones.
Lizbot (host) 5:30:35 PM
@DSM - Hi! of the Van Der Graaf albums? I love Still Life
DSM 5:31:32 PM
Ah, no I meant the BGC. But this is lovely too!
Lizbot (host) 5:31:35 PM
@Stephen - Yes! I like both PT's more serious stuff like The Master and his lighter movies. Licorice Pizza was a lot of fun, esp that driving scene! And Maya is a goddess
Lizbot (host) 5:32:14 PM
@DSM - I realized after I wrote my last comment to you that you probably meant the BGC. Yeah, that 1970 album is sooo gorgeous

Lizbot (host) 5:39:02 PM

George Korein 5:41:51 PM
it takes 2 elephants or 20 mules
George Korein 5:42:08 PM
That's why they call him 20 mule team Boris
George Korein 5:42:22 PM
and why they call it 2-Elephant Borax
Lizbot (host) 5:42:22 PM
@George - Amos shreds for bedding the Boris' breading

Lizbot (host) 5:44:10 PM
@George - 20 mule chorus plinking on the ribs of an elephant thorax can sometimes summon the Lorax
George Korein 5:44:12 PM
Boris and the sea monster marooned together with 19 mules... one mule shy of the line, sweet jesus
George Korein 5:44:31 PM
Elephant thorax (gasp)
Lizbot (host) 5:45:06 PM
@George - I'm renaming my show "One Mule Shy of the Line" OR Shredded for Bedding
Lizbot (host) 5:45:35 PM
@George - or maybe Shredded for Breading
George Korein 5:45:52 PM

George Korein 5:46:06 PM

Lizbot (host) 5:46:52 PM

Bud Burroughs 5:49:46 PM
Yep, and Hackett did a nice extended solo at the end of Supper's Ready (as if it wasn't already long enough:)
George Korein 5:50:18 PM
To the tune of "Crimson and clover, over and over", it's "crimson and clover, over the border"
George Korein 5:50:33 PM
The soundtrack also features the Genesis song "Illegal Alien"
George Korein 5:51:08 PM
"It's no fun / having crimson and clover hidden in your buns"
Lizbot (host) 5:52:04 PM
@Bud - haha, I watched a reaction video of a couple of guys who went into Supper's Ready totally blind, knowing nothing of the song or of Genesis and it was pretty funny. I don't usually watch reaction videos on YouTube, but those two were fun!
George Korein 5:52:50 PM
"What does your hole look like?" "covered in crimson and clover, as it were"
Bud Burroughs 5:53:06 PM
Sounds like that could be pretty funny, it's not an "ordinary" song :)
Lizbot (host) 5:53:14 PM
@George - this is the aforementioned Wilbo song from the late 90s
George Korein 5:53:29 PM
wait not "as it were", more like "as it happens"
George Korein 5:53:51 PM
ah the beginning reminded me of Night in the Woods.
Lizbot (host) 5:54:00 PM
@Bud - for real! I gotta remember the name of that YouTube channel...watched that vid years ago. I remember it was while I was in Ireland, August of 2019
Stephen Higgins 5:54:05 PM
This Wilbo reminds me of The Bad Plus a little...oh yea!
George Korein 5:54:43 PM
definitely in the breakbeat-loop world of the 90s
Lizbot (host) 5:54:43 PM
@George - oh yeah, it sounds like the music that plays during one of the mini-games in Night In the Woods, maybe it was the pierogi toss game
Lizbot (host) 5:55:07 PM
@Stephen H - huh, gotta compare em later
Stephen Higgins 5:56:09 PM
has a similar vibe... But I guess, Bad Plus is more straight up jazz
Lizbot (host) 5:57:34 PM
@Stephen Higgins - gonna do a side-by-side later!

@Ossy - oh boy! Yeah, I never wanted to drink foul cedar water so badly in my life as when I was stuck in that heat and direct sunlight all day with our jugs of fresh water at the bottom of the Mullica River! When you're that thirsty, cedar water starts to resemble iced tea!

Lizbot (host) 6:14:15 PM
@Dennis - I'm glad the water has been good! I LOVE to swim in the ocean and man, the weather was super nice while we were in LBI earlier this month, but the water temps were rough - way colder than usual for August and one day where the wind was so strong, there was a very strong current and the township actually closed the beach
Lizbot (host) 6:15:01 PM
@Rob - haha, me playing them is a good guess since I do love them and play them on the show.
Ossy Hyouka 6:15:22 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:15:35 PM

Rob from Maryland 🌻 🇺🇦 🦀 6:16:21 PM
@Lizbot, yes, it did :-)
Dennis Linggg 6:17:06 PM
We should pass by her and will send your regards. Sunday temps were amazing, but warm enough that a slew of quarter sized jellyfish joined the party. It’s gotten chillier since then, but easy to get used to. We watched Endless Summer projected on a wall Sunday night and I think we’ve been in that mindset ever since.
Lizbot (host) 6:17:47 PM
@Ossy - oh man, I would've been so screwed had I drank that cedar water! I don't think Ive ever been so thirsty before or since. And I burned to a crisp out in that canoe! It was a (less traumatic and murder-y) Deliverance out there! I learned never plan a canoeing/backpacking combo trip during a drought! I was 15, so I didn't know any better - I wish the camp who coordinated it knew better than to go ahead with the plans!
Lizbot (host) 6:19:15 PM
@Rob - I guess I gotta play songs that pique the tastebuds!
Lizbot (host) 6:20:05 PM
@Dennis - ah yeah, I'll take jellies over freezing water temps!
Lizbot (host) 6:20:39 PM
@Dennis - What a perfect movie to watch down the shore! I always try to bring shore/summery movies down the shore with me.
Lizbot (host) 6:24:28 PM
@Dennis - We had no jellies, but a school of cow-nose stingrays swam right around me in chest-deep water, spotted a few pelicans over the ocean & some egrets in the bay. We walked down the jetty at the tip of Barnegat Light and watched a guy fishing catch a stingray in the inlet and then throw it back. He had a surly teenaged seagull hanging by him and told us he's been feeding it since it was a chick, then he tried to pick it up to show us how tight, and it gave him a side-eye & it waddled away
Dennis Linggg 6:25:43 PM
@liz gull: “I ain’t your monkey!”
Ossy Hyouka 6:29:17 PM
A traumatic camping experience and incompetent rangers, sorry for all that experiences. Stingrays are a menance, I recall seeing them first in Disney Water Kingdom, in the kid days and few months later, I heard a wild sting ray got legendary Steve Irwin, during his adventures :(

@Ossy - I love stingrays! They're so soft and tips of their "wings" slice the surface of the water in such a satisfying way. I think that Steve Irwin's death was a real fluke. That was a very large ray and it happened to get its barb in his heart, but the chances of that was exceedingly slim. These little cownose rays I always see in LBI are small and harmless
CARLOS RAMONE 6:36:24 PM
@wes….remember mulch don’t bag
Lizbot (host) 6:36:44 PM
Hi Carlos!
Lizbot (host) 6:42:37 PM
@Bud Burroughs - I plan to play a Genesis track in the next 10 minutes. DOn't know if you're still here but have something queued
Lizbot (host) 6:44:21 PM
speaking of music I heard in my dorm in the mid/late 90s...
Wes Steenson 6:48:43 PM
I’ve been downhearted, ever since I started mowing… Also I always mulch, Ms Bot.
CARLOS RAMONE 6:50:15 PM
I bag about every 4/5 time and put in the compost heap and turn it over
CARLOS RAMONE 6:50:30 PM
Gardening tips on WPRB
Lizbot (host) 6:50:41 PM
@Wes - I've mulched so hard, I can't mulch no more.
Lizbot (host) 6:51:01 PM
@Carlos - WPRBag It
Lizbot (host) 6:53:16 PM
@Wes - watch out for The Frogs when you're out there mowing
Lizbot (host) 6:54:30 PM
and watch for those pesky mollusks
Brian D 6:55:45 PM
There are three things...
Ossy Hyouka 6:57:35 PM
Liz - Yeah, stingrays get scared if you swim behind or above them, thinking you're a predator or something more dangerous. The stingray very much attacked Irwin out of defense and fear(wish he was still with us, so many adventures left unseen). Jellyfish are another scary, especially their stinging cells still deadly when they're dead like stingrays
Ossy Hyouka 6:58:07 PM
That sounded like Phil Collins1
Lizbot (host) 6:58:41 PM
@Brian D - L, B & I. Pairs thematically with the stranded sea monster of the Van Der Graaf song earlier in tonight's program
Lizbot (host) 6:58:51 PM
@Brian D - Also, Hello!
Lizbot (host) 6:59:52 PM
@Ossy - I did get stung by a jelly as a kid in Ocean City, NJ and that sucked. Felt like a million little stings all over my body, but then faded quickly, mercifully.
Lizbot (host) 7:00:16 PM
@Ossy - these days I mostly see pieces of jelly, or those tiny white ones.
Lizbot (host) 7:00:36 PM
@Ossy - It IS! Early Phil-era Genesis
Lizbot (host) 7:00:56 PM
@Ossy - This is kinda a deep cut. I like this track a lot but it wasn't one that got airplay
Ossy Hyouka 7:01:26 PM
I can't unthink of Tarzan in Phil!
Lizbot (host) 7:02:18 PM
@Ossy - I'm sure that ray was acting in self-defense, but that accident was such an unusual occurrence. Had it struck anywhere other than his heart he probably would've lived
Ossy Hyouka 7:03:35 PM
That jelly reminds me of Dory the Blue Tang from Finding Nemo, stung by a little jelly and then later almost eaten by a pink jelly. I also thought jellyfish produce jelly like in Spongebob
unoclay 7:04:32 PM
this is uplifting in an unironic way
Ossy Hyouka 7:05:19 PM
Liz - True it was self defense and was an unfortunate incident. Yeah, he would've survived if the ray struck him anywhere that's not a vital organ.
Lizbot (host) 7:06:15 PM
@unoclay- I'm glad! I agree!
unoclay 7:06:46 PM
saw him play a show in the kimmel center a few years ago and same vibe
Lizbot (host) 7:06:57 PM
@Ossy - Jellies are so fun and hypnotizing to watch floating around aquariums but not while I'm swimming!
unoclay 7:07:31 PM
right now this feels like the show is a preview of New Abnormal tomorrow morning
Ossy Hyouka 7:08:44 PM
Liz - Jellyfish look like sea showercaps, while their deadlier variants Portuguese Man Of War, look like plastic bottles
Lizbot (host) 7:11:20 PM
@unoclay - I do love me some prog. Some days I play a lot more prog than others
Lizbot (host) 7:13:07 PM
@Ossy - Yeah, and they undulate in such a cool way...and have no brain whatsoever! When I think of how they move it reminds me of the jellies you had to drop BOMBS on (overkill!!!) in my beloved original NES game of JAWS.
unoclay 7:16:53 PM
already like this, any chipwave is thumbs up emoticon
Dennis Linggg 7:18:18 PM
Very jealous! I wanna hear chip tunes in a cranberry bog!
Lizbot (host) 7:21:43 PM
@unoclay - I have a soft-spot for chiptune that is almost definitely due to hundreds of hours of NES play in my formative years!
unoclay 7:22:16 PM
same. whats the most underrated NES game, hot takes welcome
unoclay 7:22:40 PM
this is like if devo was more forceful sort of
Ossy Hyouka 7:23:00 PM
NES, the eternal life like playing Kirby's Adventure, Contra and Ice Climber
Ossy Hyouka 7:23:15 PM
and Maniac Mansion1
Lizbot (host) 7:23:17 PM
@Dennis - haha, I wish! I heard Laraaji (That piano piece) in a cranberry bog, not chiptune, but I DID hear chiptune band Cheap Dinosaurs outside at Bartram's Garden for an event called Data Garden years ago, which also featured circuit-bent toy instruments for audience members to play around with
unoclay 7:23:19 PM
Ice Climber is a form of exquisite tourture
Lizbot (host) 7:23:59 PM
@Ossy - Contra! Maniac Mansion was fun but frustrating!
unoclay 7:24:05 PM
cheap dinos--those guys rule, friends of mine so biased but yeah they spearheaded the scene around here for years.
Ossy Hyouka 7:24:50 PM
The villain there is the vertical jumping speed, and hate those birds and icicles in Ice Climbers
unoclay 7:24:54 PM
Maniac Mansion, played on Apple II. Eventually finished it.
unoclay 7:25:14 PM
the edge detection in ice climbers is broken, like, in a technical sense
Lizbot (host) 7:25:21 PM
@unoclay - I haven't played Ice Climber but I like the name and I loved the ice levels in Super Mario 2 where you're sliding all over the place and leaping over flurries. Climbing ice sounds...tricky
Dennis Linggg 7:25:23 PM
@liz I was at Bertrand Gardens for Data Garden, but didn’t get to see a band, just the installations.
Ossy Hyouka 7:25:45 PM
Liz - I never came close to finishing Maniac Mansion, too complex! Another fun on the NES, Ninja Gaiden!
unoclay 7:26:01 PM
Ice Climber is blackbox og first round of games ever. Its flawed. Close to a masterpiece of the original games, but its not, due to they messed up the edges and the jump physics.
unoclay 7:26:29 PM
Yes yes yes but what are some UNDERRATED titles!??? Im always morer interested in the stuff i missed....
Dennis Linggg 7:26:44 PM
RIP Jaimie. Every song I’ve heard of hers in the past 2 days has been great.
Ossy Hyouka 7:27:22 PM
Excitebike and Track and Field, fun athletic NES games
unoclay 7:27:39 PM
track and field is uber classic for sure.
Lizbot (host) 7:27:43 PM
@Unoclay - I played Maniac Mansion on my old original NES console and was impressed by the graphics, but any game with multiple characters you can play I think shouldn't HAVE a specific order you have to play them in to win! It's silly. It had impressive graphics for the time and that funny slime tentacle creature, though. It doesn't help that I didn't own it and had to keep renting it from Ellis Street Video and then returning it before I got very far!
Ossy Hyouka 7:28:13 PM
Liz - Love Mario Bros 2, and the 3rd. Also the classic Wario games!
Lizbot (host) 7:28:19 PM
@Dennis - It's so sad. I couldn't believe it when I heard the news. She was something else. I'm glad I got to see her perform
Lizbot (host) 7:28:57 PM
@Ossy - LOVED Mario 2. Never owed Mario 3. Only played it at my friend's house, but wasn't as into it
unoclay 7:29:09 PM
for anyone who loved Maniac Mansion, find a way (scumm emulator, etc) to play Day of the Tentacle. it's the in-universe semi-sequel to Mansion and is probably my fav adventure game of all time. Super funny
unoclay 7:29:45 PM
i kept jokingly pushing the idea that Purple Tentacle should make it into Smash Brahs, i like it that much
Ossy Hyouka 7:30:26 PM
Unoclay - There's this other racing classic called Antarctica, about a sleigh riding penguin
unoclay 7:30:52 PM
yeah i heard an interview with the guy who made Mansion and the open-team element of Mansion (i.e. Dave+two) made it wildly hard to build, they were pioneering it too
Lizbot (host) 7:30:57 PM
@unoclay - I love cheap Dinos / Chromelodeon . Saw Chromelodeon play so many shows back in the early to mid-2000s. Dino is from near my hometown. I was so happy that Chromelodeon played those reunion shows a few years ago at PhilaMOCA. SO good!
unoclay 7:31:25 PM
I think i finished eventually with Dave, the nerd (name?), and the musician guy
Lizbot (host) 7:31:29 PM
@unoclay - Purple Tentacle guy is iconic! I love the posters on the walls in Maniac Mansion
Ossy Hyouka 7:31:35 PM
I always connect Maniac Mansion as a NES version of Hugo's House of Horrors
unoclay 7:31:49 PM
oh word. Dino is my buddy. wild genius
Lizbot (host) 7:32:01 PM
@unoclay - WOW. I would be SO DOWN to play Day of the Tentacle! I have got to find it!!
Ossy Hyouka 7:32:27 PM
Weird Ed is cool, and that nerd guy's name is Bernard, I think
Lizbot (host) 7:32:43 PM
@unoclay - I bought a hacked NES mini-console off etsy several years ago and it had loads of games - about 400 - but I never saw that one on there
richard lyons 7:32:57 PM
These two songs fit really well together. RIP Jaimie :(
unoclay 7:32:59 PM
Antarctic Adventure---looks like was Famicom, right? never played that
unoclay 7:33:11 PM
its not on NES.
unoclay 7:33:39 PM
download Scumm emulator. I might have the ROM file i could send you--would need to look. I have it on Mac, not sure if it matters, i think it would.
unoclay 7:34:08 PM
Day of Tentacle is so much easier than Mansion. its more linear. Very comedic.
Ossy Hyouka 7:34:16 PM
I'm not sure of that, since I played it via the internet and assumed it was NES
unoclay 7:34:35 PM
yeah looks like Famicom to me, but thats no prob, i have one.
Ossy Hyouka 7:35:09 PM
Dr. Fred's wife is one creepy kid obesssed lady, lmao
Lizbot (host) 7:35:15 PM
@unoclay - I love silly games like that that don't take themselves too seriously
unoclay 7:35:38 PM
oo its also on Colecovision (AA), maybe i'll get it for that, i bought myself a coleco for my birthday last year
Lizbot (host) 7:35:46 PM
@unoclay - I'll check out Scumm. I have a Mac
unoclay 7:36:00 PM
yeah mansion was pushing all kinds of boundries.
unoclay 7:36:30 PM
Finding the ROMs is trickier. Email me at unoclay At hotmail sometime and i can see if i can email the ROM
Ossy Hyouka 7:37:53 PM
The first time I played, I didn't know dying was possible like turning off the water valve, that detonated the entire mansion, LOOOOOOOOL
Lizbot (host) 7:38:59 PM
@unoclay -will do! thanks!
Lizbot (host) 7:41:13 PM
@Ossy - I love how so many old NES and early Sega 8-bit games make water soooo deadly but you just lose some stamina if you get crushed by some huge boulder!
Pethiieeeeee 7:41:58 PM
Whew, finally listening...dinner took a while...love the combo of TCIC and Kae Tempest!
Dennis Linggg 7:42:23 PM
Programmers back then didn’t know how to swim.
Lizbot (host) 7:44:30 PM
Hi Pethiieeeeee!
Ossy Hyouka 7:44:32 PM
Liz - Ikr, LMAO. Forgot to mention, iconic NES games like Legend of Zelda(1986), Bomberman, Kid Icarus and Mega Man
Lizbot (host) 7:44:50 PM
@Dennis - haha, true. Those pencil-necks!
Lizbot (host) 7:45:35 PM
@Pethiieeeeee - Yeah, that track was one of my favorites of 2019
CARLOS RAMONE 7:46:10 PM
Pencil neck geeks…Fred Blassie
Ossy Hyouka 7:46:46 PM
This DOS game named Elfland, where you play as either a boy or girl elf, when you come across water at try to swim or fall in it, you lose energy till you die, as when some other elf says "elves are terrible swimmers" lol
unoclay 7:47:50 PM
Elfland, now that seems like a deep cut. DOS was wild west where tons of stuff slipped by us all
Wes Steenson 7:48:07 PM
RIP Philly jazz guitarist Monnette Sudler Aug 21 2022.
Lizbot (host) 7:48:12 PM
@Ossy - I somehow never played Mega Man as a kid even though I would've loved it. My local game rental place weirdly didn't have it and neither did my NES-loving friend, so I wasn't aware of it even though it was a pretty big title. Then when I got my first iMac first gen in the early 2000s I downloaded an emulator that had it and played it to the end and loved it and its sequels
Lizbot (host) 7:48:40 PM
@Wes - RIP Monnette. Too many losses in jazz this week!
Lizbot (host) 7:49:09 PM
@Ossy - what the hell, programmers?! No one ever taught you how to swim?!
unoclay 7:49:37 PM
Mega Man 1 is a seminal classic. Most prefer 2/3 but im a pureist
Ossy Hyouka 7:49:54 PM
Unoclay - Loads of great DOS in store like Hugo 1, 2 and 3, Captain Comic, Nitemare 3d and sierra games, Police, Space and King's Quest and that notorious Leisure Suit Larry, LMAO
Dennis Linggg 7:50:44 PM
If they learned how to swim they’d never have time to learn how to code.
Ossy Hyouka 7:50:57 PM
I recall finishing Mega Man in the early college years after finals, facing that annoying Yellow devil guy.
Pethiieeeeee 7:51:17 PM
Helooooooooo Liz Bot!!
Lizbot (host) 7:51:30 PM
@Dennis - They'd prune their precious programming fingers
Dennis Linggg 7:51:57 PM
I gotta get that Monade, I only have an early ep of theirs.
Lizbot (host) 7:52:30 PM
@Pethiieeeeee - Looking forward to Powerclashing tonight! I need to PACK for a last-minute trip to St. Louis tonight ! Leaving tomorrow early AM so I need some Peth to get me through!
Lizbot (host) 7:54:57 PM
@Dennis - Good stuff! We had in the station music library a Monade EP called Socialisme Ou Barbarie (The Bedroom Recordings) that had an utterly gorgeous track called Un Secret Sans Importance and then it went missing and isn't available digitally but I will buy the physical EP one day
Lizbot (host) 7:55:23 PM
If anyone has any recommendations for St. Louis, shoot! I
Lizbot (host) 7:55:54 PM
I've never been to St. Louis and I'll be there for 6 days. I can cross Missouri off the list of states Ive visited after tomorrow
CARLOS RAMONE 7:56:05 PM
Buenas noches a todos..buen viage Liz
Lizbot (host) 7:56:41 PM
@Carlos - muchos gracias!
Lizbot (host) 7:57:17 PM

@Rob- Thank you, Rob! I'll be sure to give you the Bird Report
Ossy Hyouka 7:59:45 PM
Nostalgia gametastic, indeed tonight! Have fun on your vacation in Missouri!
Lizbot (host) 8:00:00 PM
@Dennis - Thanks! I will arch on over the archway gate or whatever its official name is
Lizbot (host) 8:00:10 PM
@Ossy - Thanks Ossy!
Lizbot (host) 8:00:27 PM
@Unoclay & @Ossy - So many new (old) games to check out! Thanks!
Lizbot (host) 8:00:37 PM
@Carlos - Ha!
Dennis Linggg 8:01:06 PM
Enjoy the barrel elevator ride!
Zanti 8:01:51 PM
Hello
Lizbot (host) 8:02:08 PM
Hi Zanti! You looking for the Peth?
Zanti 8:02:15 PM
Yes
Lizbot (host) 8:02:41 PM
@Dennis - Thanks! I plan to become extremely claustrophobic in that space-age arch tram pod
Lizbot (host) 8:02:58 PM
@Zanti - go on over to Peth playlist, Maybe it wasn't up yet?
TAndy 8:03:00 PM
Oh hey Lizbot thanks for the show just woke up like fifteen minutes ago oops big love for playing Ikonika btw one of my fave producers 💙💙
Lizbot (host) 8:03:27 PM
@TAndy - haha, glad to usher you into yr day/night!
TAndy 8:04:06 PM
Fun fact before chat closes that Ikonika lp was one of my first vinyl purchases, seriously love her works so much 😍
TAndy 8:04:44 PM
Have a good weekend and judging by other chatters a fun vacation!
