It's absolutely possible Bryon! It's the hard part about not being able to interview ancient Romans

Just another reason we need a time machine

It's just that the researchers note a *continuum* of lopsidedness - there's no clear clump of strongly biased dice that were obviously meant to be different. It seems more like standard variation that they just took as acceptable. Hence the interpretation that they were putting their rolls in the hands of fate, not probability
