Yup! The early 70s, plenty of customers tripping on weekends and listening to Gong. In jazz, my favorite period. 1969-1974. For funk, just about the same time. By 1975-76 things started getting more commercial in jazz and funk

I am another one who heard I Want Candy on MTv and didn't know it was a cover.

Cara-lin sorta has a Motown drum sound

I find every day songs that I thought were the original but were actually the cover. Non-stop

I knew it was a cover, but a young Malaysian girl with an ice cream cone made me not think about it too much back then.

Then the Dead got to he back up band for Bo Diddley in 1972 at a gig in NYC at the Academy of Music. Officially released years later as Dick's Picks Vol 30

I Remember when Thorogoods album came out I was working a record store and we couldn't get the record for months. There was some distribution problem

George Thorogood did Ride On Josephine very well too . Very similar to that Sardinas you played. George's version was the first i heard. And George paid homage to Bo D putting him in his Bad to he Bone video. Ha. Playing pool at the bar.

"I wish somebody would tell me what Diddy Wah Diddy means" --Blind Blake.

Bo was booked at Philly Folk Fest in mid 90s. Had to cancel due to some health issue. I think they either had The Band or maybe Los Lobos as a fill in for him. Both of them played the fest right around that 1994-96 range. I remember Tom Rush was definitely there that year Bo bowed out. Tom did a nice solo acoustic gtr medley of Bo songs. Philly Folk Fest ever- present sound system problems did not deter Tom ha
