Been meaning to check that chasm for awhile now, always escapes me

Ahh the 'Dacks. Way up 'ere in New York. Truly 'upstate'

Went to Flume Gorge in Franconia Notch NH last month, also a pretty sweet Chasm

Was feeling a little too pouty about my life upon returning to Philly and the 90+ weather, I wanted more than one week of mountain breezes and fresh water swims

That's exactly how I felt returning from Maine.

Read a book w main character from town of AuSable, NY. Also set in Jamaica. Guy got around. "Rule of the Bone" , Russell Banks

Oh wow, Rule of the Bone was great. I read it a looooong time ago, but remember it fondly

Just read that author taught creative writing at Princeton. All comes back....

Ya. Liked the mentions of Ital Rasta cooking. I need to grab it again... lent that one out 20 yrs ago or so. Only read once

We were turned on to a great swimming hole in Vermont last year . Got it pinned in the map. Hope to return. And find others. Clear crystal mountain water in summer...ahhh

Knowledge of quality swimming holes can really make any trip/drive a good one

Chappell Pond was the spot I found by the end in the 'dacks. Had a good deal of schoolchildren bussed in from Burlington in the afternoons actually, but enough space for all

The Trinidad/Tobago Indian population is interesting. As a relatively insular community, they retained some old customs and traditions that died out in ‘the old country’.

Makes some sense maybe given that that music seems to be heavily mentor-to-peer taught and stratified (i think?)

And yeah Brian, two of the populations I've learned of through culling music for this show is the T&T Indian folks and Japanese expats living in Brazil...that makes for some outstanding fusion

Branko would fit nicely on TLAoBEH yes! Very dreamy echo laden guitar. Way ahead of time i think that lp collects recordings Branko did in the 1970s. And then again ancient as he was interpreting traditional folk songs of Yugoslavia
