I heard an NPR spot on wind chimes back in the 70's and they went on about some very cool tunings for the chime sets. I am fascinated.

And yet, so many great writers and philosophers have imagined the future, it's just that visionaries are often villified in their time....

There is some writer/scientist (Dyson? Gamow??) who believed that we will evolve to the point that we move our "Consciousness" into machines!! 10,000 years???

The noosphere concept seems to refute this...we will chat about it as we go...

@ Roffeltomp: 2001 is based on a novel by Clarke called "The Sentinel" which I read...Kubrick made many changes to that book...

...Originally the "Sentinel" was a tetrahedron, Kubrick changed it into a monolith, didn't want people to think "Pyramids"...

@Alan, I was rather a literal thinker back when 2001 cam out, and I could not figure that monkey/monolith out...I had a theory it's like the beginning of time or something....

I did not read it, but it just made it's way to the top of the reading list. :0

....I spotted one hell of a bright meteor Tuesday 19th at 10:10 PM headed N to S near Cygnus, i believe it was a "Sporadic" just happened to look in the sky from N. of Doylestown..

Aquarius is in th very late night eastern sky..

Ok, I heard close to midnight Saturday night and into Sunday morning

...but hey, just get out and look anytime the moon isn't too bright, or away from city lights

An earth crossing meteor shower is just another meteor gang tag. Tisk, tisk, tisk...
