Brian, it's funny, I never had MTV back in it's heyday, so I still come across music vids that were huge at the time that I'm seeing for the first time now.

I remember right after Nirvana hit big and all those really cool bands got dragged kicking and screaming into the limelight, I thought "wow, MTV is playing some really good stuff now! There might be hope for the future! This channel seems to only be getting better and better and better. I bet by 2022 this channel will be nothing but the highest form of art as music and people will be tuning in every day to have their artistic sensibilities stimulated and to discover bands/artists.

Oh these little diddee viddee-o's I mentioned certainly were not big by any stretch on early MTV. But that's what was interesting/ quirky about that channel at first. They did not have a large library of videos to play from in the first 1-2 yrs. So these oddball no hit wonders received a lot of airplay. The channel did have a number of videos from the 70s especially UK bands. They had no idea at the time what would happen later in the 80s.. but it was common to have promotional videos.

Our local cable company (remember those? ) in Bucks County did not get access to MTV for about 2-3 years after the channel first went on air. It was a big deal as wee teens when we finally got it. Had to rely on short 1/2 hour video programs on the regular channels. And maybe a friend or relative in the city or other burbs that had access to MTV
