This episode focuses on the tireless efforts of soundtrack curators to slip good music into terrible movies. Nicolas Cage makes several appearances, as does Radiohead. We try to answer these questions:

Why was Faceoff made? Why was another version of it made in 2016 with Kevin Costner? Why is the same rare Arab Disco track in both Criminal and Place in the Pines?

I liked Place Beyond the Pines . Don't know if Place in the Pines is a different flick. I remember watching Travolta Cage face off but long time ago.

There's a good Faceoff inspired take on the don't tread on me logo that says something to the effect of "Don't steal my face and then have sex with my wife"

Place in the Pines I found so bad that I left the theater!! I was promised motorcycle stunt riding and instead a man starts robbing so he can provide for his child??? he could have provided childcare instead and that would have been more useful imo. I was also spoiled by Drive which I really enjoyed and wanted more of

I was just left wondering why it was titled "the place beyond the pines" unless I missed something

Never saw all of Garden State (fell asleep or maybe lost interest) . Friends found out about that soundtrack ugh... like the 1st time they discovered some of all those bands. A not well put together soundtrack . Better songs (and bands ) could have been chosen

I was 15 when it came out and it was definitely the first time I heard the Shins! really a big movie for my age group and now I really cringe at the whole premise

This might be my favorite show premise of all time. Living near a $1.75 theater for a couple years meant I saw every possible bad movie in the 1998-2000 window.

DSM, there was a second run theater in PA just over the river I enjoyed often in the early 2000s. Would I have seen Not Another Teen Movie in the theater otherwise? Unlikely!

Jon, I assume it is gone now? Ha, was Not Another Teen Movie from the Scary Movie parody crew? (I genuinely kinda enjoy those)

I also genuinely enjoyed Not Another Teen Movie, probably because I have seen all those teen movies

I'm trying to remember this horrible movie that came out when everyone was trying to make the new reservoir dogs and it had a scene very very similar to the reservoir dogs stuck in the middle with you scene and the song was good. But i can't remember the movie or the song. It was not 8 heads in a duffel bag but it was like that.

I don't know when it closed but I am near-confident it shuttered in the mid-2000s.

Pennsbury Theater was a classic. Always had Rocky Horror going every weekend forever in the 1980s

I used to go to this amazing theater in Brooklyn that was an old beautiful falling apart movie house that has first run movies but weird messed up prints and it wasn't technically a double feature but they alternated movies and didn't make you leave? And it was $6 and full of people drinking and smoking and also tons of kids at all hours

I lived walking distance from an AMC that had 5 dollar all day tickets and no air conditioning so i saw A LOT of movies

I saw almost exclusively bad movies there

well I had no a/c, the AMC had cold blasting air

When they closed they had a poster for giant alligator movie lake placid up for years and years

Similar fare at a cheap 2nd run theater in Feasterville Pa . Used to be a major 1st run place in 70s early 80s, we saw 9 to 5 there and Ghandi among others. Then in the 90s it had the low price 2nd run stuff. Saw Pulp Fiction a year or so after it came out there

The proudest accomplishment of my time living near the $1.50 theater was a Titan A.E. / Final Destination / The Skulls triple-feature (with a quick break for Thai food across the street in between movies two and three).

Lake Placid is a GREAT bad movie. Betty White!

I saw the Marky mark planet of the apes there and when he kissed Helena Bonham Carter (as an ape person) someone yelled THAT'S NASTY

There are very few big Hollywood music star biopics that I like. James Brown with Chadwick B and the Bessie Smith flick with Queen Latifah are some exceptions. And the Ma Rainey one too

FACE OFF RIP OFF???

Caveman is silly fun. But beware... no actual modern language dialog. All grunts, gestures and " cave names" . Or maybe don't beware! As that makes it even more fun

I went to a Kevin Costner owned and themed restaurant in South Dakota and I was so confused. All the menu items were films of his related. Like the Field of Dreams burger etc.

I have searched the Internet for "Nic Cage and the Bad Seeds" so you don't have to.

Kevin Costner is not who i would expect to have a himself themed restaurant!

Friends wanted to see American Pie... I lasted about 5 mins in the theater. Then i ran into the theater next door where South Park movie had just started. A great decision.

American Pie: a film so bad you will RUN from the theater

my bandcamp experiences were nothing like those movies.

I didn't go to a band camp, I went to fundamentalist lutheran camp and it was a lot of fun/also terrifying. Marching band practice in the summer was nothing like the movies and was grueling

Eugene Levy getting some more notoriety i guess... but doesn't excuse those films

quaker summer camp was awesome tho!

i went to socialist arts camp. there were some very good actors doing their best with the material in that (levy, alyson hannigan, natasha lyonne)

the editing of appearances is so prevalent now that i see people using filters on their BABIES

I thought and still do i guess that the idea of that early version of CGI, digitally and physically editing humans' appearances, using advertising/ media to hypnotize viewers etc was pretty interesting.
