Lizbot (host) 5:00:00 PM
hello! hello! I'm BACK from back pain and here bring some mid-summer tunes!
Rob from Maryland 5:00:58 PM
Hooray, Lizbot!!
Lizbot (host) 5:01:04 PM
hi rob!
Alan Pasnyk 5:02:32 PM
LIZBOT!!!!!10101001010100010 XXX!! I Hope your "Hetrodyne Circuits" are better!!
Lizbot (host) 5:03:55 PM
Hello Alan! I STILL don't know why/how that injury happened because I was just brushing my teeth! I think it probably had been on the brink for a long time
Alan Pasnyk 5:06:35 PM
Lizbot: I had an Uncle who could carry a bathtub upstairs on his back, next day he "picked up his underwear from the floor" and that messed up his back big time...
Rob from Maryland 5:06:50 PM
Yikes, Lizbot. That's kind of whacky
Lizbot (host) 5:08:47 PM
@Alan - yeah, my father-in-law couldn't move for a week and laid up with back pain for months from loading the dishwasher! I'm sure it was other stuff too, but that's when he suddenly threw it out! Ugh! Now I'm so worried it will happen again.
Lizbot (host) 5:09:15 PM
@Rob - yeah, and my lower back is still weak and painful in that spot, just nothing like the first 3 days, which were awful
Lizbot (host) 5:10:05 PM
and now for our very own Abbie from Mars!
Alan Pasnyk 5:12:11 PM
Lizbot: Mine went out superbad about a month ago, sometimes a chiropracter helps, sometimes it fixes itself, for now the mattress stays on the floor!! But I know what it's like having trouble walking Ugh!!
Lizbot (host) 5:12:26 PM
the funny thing is, I KNEW I wanted to play Delius (Song of Summer) by KB last week before my back went out, and when Commie stepped up to cover for me, she played it without knowing I planned to. Synergy!
Brian D 5:13:45 PM
Hello Lizbot and all.
Alan Pasnyk 5:14:13 PM
...It's that time of the year, Celebrating backs back in commission again!!
Lizbot (host) 5:14:18 PM
Hi Brian D!
Alan Pasnyk 5:15:38 PM
@Brian: I heard one lone Cicada in Plumsteadville yesterday...midsummer...
Lizbot (host) 5:15:58 PM
@Alan - My back better be in commission when I go down the shore in August!
Rob from Maryland 5:16:02 PM
Lizbot, have you tried acupuncture? That has helped me with tight back/weird back situations
Rob from Maryland 5:16:38 PM
Alan, we have a slowly growing number of annual cicadas around my neck of the woods
Alan Pasnyk 5:18:41 PM
Rob: Lizbot never did get her recording of a "Bucket of Cicadas" to make a station ID for WPRB..
Alan Pasnyk 5:19:00 PM
(Last year)
Lizbot (host) 5:19:12 PM
@Rob- I've only tried acupuncture once. It was okay...Not sure it helped me but it didn't hurt either
Lizbot (host) 5:19:47 PM
@Alan- ooooh....bucket of cicadas! I gotta make that happen while I still can, while the cicadas are bumping
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 5:19:58 PM
HELLO BAM
Lizbot (host) 5:20:27 PM
@Alan - sounds like a song name: "The Lone Cicada of Plumsteadville"
Rob from Maryland 5:21:33 PM
@Alan, bummer!
Alan Pasnyk 5:21:44 PM
Lizbot: I occasionally go to a Chiropracter, it helps, but he says "If I could instantaneously cure you, my next act would be to walk on water!!"
Lizbot (host) 5:22:21 PM
Chef! Hello!
Rob from Maryland 5:22:41 PM
Hallo Chef!
Lizbot (host) 5:23:38 PM
@Chef Emeril - Chef shirts are being distributed all over the tri-state and beyond beginning now!

Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 5:30:41 PM
That Soupy! Woah! BAM!
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 5:31:06 PM
@lizbot I heard the news about the Chef Shirt Variant spreading!!
Lizbot (host) 5:31:17 PM
@Chef - Some soupy songs to make soup to
Lizbot (host) 5:32:31 PM
@Chef - Indeed! I threw my back out a couple days before The Great Packing began, but I saw photos. Had I thrown my back out DURING the packing of PRB premiums, I imagine my fellow DJs would have to fashion me a stretcher out of Chef shirts
Ossy Hyouka 5:34:36 PM
Hi Liz! Explosive starting songs like Solomon Fesshaye, Space Lady, Abbie, Penguin Cafe etc
Lizbot (host) 5:35:00 PM
Helo Ossy! Thanks! How're you?
Lizbot (host) 5:37:25 PM
I just got back from an overnight stay in the Poconos yesterday, which was planned mainly to see The Big Lebowski outside on original 35mm at the old Mahoning Drive-In that's been there since the 1940s. Was a great night!
Lizbot (host) 5:48:31 PM
Re: Adrian Belew's "Quicksand" - I just had a conversation in Jim Thorpe, PA at the local record store on Tuesday with one of the employees there about how great this mid-2000s era of Belew, and particularly this album, is
TAndy 5:48:52 PM
Good evening everyone 😊
Lizbot (host) 5:49:49 PM
Hello TAndy!
Ossy Hyouka 6:00:25 PM
Sorry for late response Liz, but all is well and great times going to the Poconos for me a very long time ago!
TAndy 6:00:43 PM
Lovely tunes to wake up to, also seeing a true classic film like that on original format, at a drive in at the mountains??? I think that beats any of our weekend plans 😜
Lizbot (host) 6:02:19 PM
@Ossy - Glad to hear it! I don't ski, (at least not since I was a teen,) but I do like heading up there in the summer and going to the parks and checking out the little towns
Lizbot (host) 6:03:02 PM
@TAndy - Happy to transition you to wakefulness with the show!
Pethiieeeeee 6:03:57 PM
Nice to tune in and hear some Lizzy right off the bat!!
Pethiieeeeee 6:04:13 PM
And now XTC!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lizbot (host) 6:04:45 PM
@TAndy - I'm so glad I went! Hadn't seen Lebowski in years and the vibe was so great! Lots of very dedicated fans dressed as The Dude- so many Dude sweaters everywhere!
Lizbot (host) 6:05:45 PM
Hi Pethiieeeeeeee! Lizzy is the best! Glad you're digging the show! Also, I really like the line "all the world is biscuit-shaped"
TAndy 6:06:41 PM
I can't help but smile at how much a good movie can mean to some people

Hey Lizbot!! Checking in from Maine, you’re the soundtrack to our insanely good bbq dinner. Took it to go and are eating by the river.
Lizbot (host) 6:08:36 PM
@TAndy - srsly! I love that ppl tend to dress up for the Mahoning screenings, but I knew there would ESPECIALLY be some hardcore Lebowski-heads on Tuesday. They love posing for photos. One guy had a real toilet to sit on and a leashed ferret!
TAndy 6:09:03 PM
😭😆😆
Alan Pasnyk 6:09:08 PM
Hi Pethieeee!!! STRAWBERRY!!
TAndy 6:09:22 PM
Nice, DSM! The Maine man!!
Lizbot (host) 6:09:54 PM
Hi DSM! - Nice! Happy to provide a BBQ soundtrack! Sounds like an amazing setting for a picnic! I'm actually thinking of fitting in one my road-trip this summer and I think it will be to Portland/Camden/Belfast Maine + Acadia National Park. If I can fit it in, it would have to be late August
Lizbot (host) 6:10:00 PM
Hi Alan!
DSM 6:10:37 PM
Hey TAndy!
Lizbot (host) 6:10:51 PM
@Peth - Actually Jill Bryson & Rose McDowall's hair on this album cover reminds me of yr rad hairdos!
DSM 6:11:34 PM
Nice Lizbot! I love Maine. We’re in Bethel over in the mountains then head over to Bath and the coast tomorrow, to Portland, then back home.
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:11:42 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:11:51 PM
Hello Addie!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:11:59 PM
This new work schedule is cutting into my Lizbot time!
DSM 6:12:10 PM
Hey Addie 👋
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:12:59 PM
Hi DSM and Lizbot!!
Lizbot (host) 6:13:48 PM
@DSM - Nice! My folks used to do a Maine road trip every summer when I was a teen because my uncle lived in a former radio station in Belfast and led the community theatre there, so we always had a place to stay there back then. Loved the co-op and the co-op cats and hanging down by the water listening to music
Lizbot (host) 6:14:24 PM
@Addie - Oh no! Tell them you need WPRB to keep you going!
Lizbot (host) 6:14:41 PM
@DSM - I haven't been to Acadia in ages. Looking forward to it!
DSM 6:15:50 PM
Sounds dreamy Lizbot! Idillic childhood vacation!
Ossy Hyouka 6:17:20 PM
To live in a radio station, it's so legendary!
Lizbot (host) 6:18:44 PM
@TAndy - There is a community radio DJ in Blue Hill, Maine named who goes by "The Maine Man," AKA Joel Mann. Station is WERU
Lizbot (host) 6:20:18 PM
@Ossy - Yeah, it basically felt like living in an abandoned station because nothing much was done to covert it into an apartment! It was fun and near the great local co-op. I still remember fondly sleeping on a mattress in the soundproofed studio room, blasting my stereo
Lizbot (host) 6:21:00 PM
@DSM - for real! I wish my uncle still lived there! I wanted to do a Maine road-trip earlier this summer, but getting my kid to camp in Michigan took precedence.
TAndy 6:21:10 PM
Sorry but the Maine Man is now my favorite radio DJ. Running with a pun in such a way is a big A+ for me 😜
Ossy Hyouka 6:21:35 PM
I'll love to live in a radio station, to fully see more behind the scenes, again!
Pethiieeeeee 6:22:42 PM
Hi everybody!! I love a good world biscuit.
TAndy 6:23:44 PM
Imagine how happy the world would be if each person got one fresh KFC busquit
Lizbot (host) 6:25:36 PM
@Pethiieeeee - a world biscuit is perhaps even better than a half-man, half-biscuit
Lizbot (host) 6:26:08 PM
@TAndy - Gotta love a good pun! Helps that his surname is Mann!
TAndy 6:26:31 PM
AAAAAAGH that's even more perfect! 🤣
Lizbot (host) 6:27:38 PM
@TAndy - mmm, biscuits...I prefer a sweet cookie-like British biscuit like Andy Partridge was just singing about in that XTC song. Favorite is McVitties Milk Chocolate Digestibles. Mmmm...digestible as a noun...Delicious
DSM 6:29:22 PM
Gonna see if i can tune into the Maine Man tomorrow on my drive.
DSM 6:29:47 PM
I do love a good biscuit.
DSM 6:30:05 PM
Hey Pethieeeeee!
Lizbot (host) 6:31:45 PM
@DSM - sounds good! I don't know what day he's actually on! I just hear him on his other gig, serving as co-host/producer of John Hodgman's podcast, but I indeed to check out his show while driving through Maine this August
Guelove 6:32:06 PM
Yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo!
Guelove 6:32:29 PM
Music is percolating my sensor systems ! ¡
Lizbot (host) 6:32:42 PM
@DSM / Peth - One of my favorite scenes in Ireland on my visit there in 2019: The endless biscuit aisle in the Tesco!
Guelove 6:32:43 PM
Joyous outbreak incoming
Lizbot (host) 6:33:04 PM
Hello Guelove! I'm glad it's percolating and boiling over!
Lizbot (host) 6:34:29 PM
The way Gary sings "something in me went wrong" so cheerily always gets me
Lizbot (host) 6:34:58 PM
yeah it did
Ossy Hyouka 6:37:01 PM
Like Chris Montez singer
TAndy 6:37:36 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:39:00 PM
@Ossy - The L.A.-based guy who sang "Let's Dance" in the 60s? Or a different Chris Montez??
Lizbot (host) 6:39:17 PM
@Ossy - Yes! Love Penny Penny/Eric Nkovani!
Lizbot (host) 6:39:41 PM
@TAndy - For real ! Such a bouncy upbeat summer jam
Lizbot (host) 6:39:59 PM
@DSM - Isn't it good?! I love his beats
Ossy Hyouka 6:40:12 PM

Ossy Hyouka 6:40:47 PM
I ADORE HIS "CALL ME" !
Ossy Hyouka 6:41:38 PM
I hear "call me" that in McDonalds, every time, few years back
Lizbot (host) 6:43:27 PM
@Ossy - Ah! Same Chris Montez! Good stuff! I gotta check out "Call Me"
Lizbot (host) 6:48:29 PM
Did anyone hear a phone ring for a couple seconds just now? I don't think that went out over the air, but dammit if these spam calls just keep coming through even when my phone is silenced cuz sometimes it bumps the call to the laptop I'm broadcasting off of
DSM 6:51:15 PM
I didn’t, I don’t think at least. Though i’m kinda in a food coma rn
Lizbot (host) 6:51:53 PM
@DSM - Sounds like fun! Yeah, I don't think it did. I just hate that when these auto-dialers come through to my laptop!
Lizbot (host) 6:52:16 PM
More South African music. This is from a massive recently released retrospective on The Movers
Dennis Linggg 6:54:51 PM
Hey Liz and everybody! Great show so far!
Lizbot (host) 6:55:10 PM
@DSM - My favorite lakeside picnic memory was visiting my mom's brother in Spokane, WA - We went to his cabin on Priest Lake in Idaho and I stopped my hot dog in the water and then immediately saw a falling star
Lizbot (host) 6:55:14 PM
Hi Dennis!
Lizbot (host) 6:57:02 PM
@Dennis - Thanks! Have you & Mary watched The Last Starfighter yet? I have THOUGHTS on that one! Been meaning to write you. We took a deep dive into 80s sci-fi/space kids movies with Hattie at the beginning of the pandemic and that was one of them, though I had seen it as a kid, I barely remembered the plot
Dennis Linggg 6:57:03 PM
Haven’t chatted in a bit, but Mary loved Mystery Train! Thanks for nudging her in that direction for our podcast!
DSM 6:57:48 PM
Idaho is secretly gorgeous huh? Ive only passed thru the very bottom into Oregon, but my friend showed me some photos of their trip to northern Idaho near Canada and my mind was blown!
Lizbot (host) 6:57:57 PM
@Dennis - Yes! I'm so glad you covered that one! LOVE that Screamin' Jay / Cinque Lee scene with the Japanese plum! It cracks me up every time. Thanks for the mention on that episode!
DSM 6:58:18 PM
Also, need clarity on ‘stopped my hot dog in the water’ 🤔
Lizbot (host) 6:58:51 PM
@DSM - You could see clear to the bottom of the lake! Coyotes every night
Lizbot (host) 6:59:09 PM
@DSM - haha, I meant dropped!

Ahhh, sunken dog. 🌭
Ambrose Hughes 7:00:32 PM
Evenin' Lizbot! Evenin' all!
Dennis Linggg 7:01:18 PM
Every time a hot dog touches the water, and angel comes down from heaven.
DSM 7:03:43 PM
Lol Dennis
Lizbot (host) 7:03:47 PM
Hi Ambrose!
DSM 7:03:54 PM
Bill Nelson rulz
Lizbot (host) 7:04:02 PM
@DSM - RIP Sunken Dog
Pethiieeeeee 7:04:18 PM
Yayyy! I just sat down after cooking dinner! BILL NELSON FTW
Lizbot (host) 7:04:48 PM
@Dennis - ha! Can it be hot dog water or only lake water? I think that might've been the subject of The Lilys' song "Touch the Water"
Lizbot (host) 7:05:02 PM
@Peth - haha, I KNEW Bill Nelson would summon you!
Lizbot (host) 7:07:45 PM
@DSM - I love both forms of Bill Nelson - this earlier post-punk stuff and his synthy blissed-out atmospheric songs
Mary Jones 7:07:59 PM
Good evening everybody—man, I need to check out Pas & Cal.
Dennis Linggg 7:09:39 PM
@liz Wet franks just get on angel’s nerves!
Lizbot (host) 7:09:44 PM
Hi Mary! Yeah, I was really into them when they were putting out their EPs on Le Grand Magistery and felt sure they're be around for the long haul but they broke up so early on. Their songs are great and they were amazing live
Lizbot (host) 7:10:01 PM
@Dennis - Is it wet franks? Thanks!
Lizbot (host) 7:11:24 PM
@Mary - I hope you enjoy Last Starfighter. I remembered liking it as a kid but barely remembered the plot. Revisiting it in 2020 early days of the pandemic I was like "WHOA! That's ROBERT PRESTON!" I somehow never noticed as a kid even though my mom had The Music Man on VHS so I had watched it many times
Lizbot (host) 7:12:06 PM
@Mary - I don't think I spoiled anything, right?! You knew Preston was in one of the two space movies and discovered it wasn't StarMan last week!
Mary Jones 7:13:26 PM
(I haven’t watched it yet, but I also stepped away from the chat and saw the words “spoiled”, so I am not reading below my own post. Instead, I will talk about how sad I am that Frank’s black cherry wishniak hasn’t existed in 30 years.)
Mary Jones 7:14:29 PM
Dennis has just told me you didn’t spoil anything
Lizbot (host) 7:14:39 PM
@Mary - RIP Cherry Wishniak. That was my fav. It says on its grave "Thanks"
Lizbot (host) 7:14:59 PM
@MAry - I didn't. You can read below. It's something you already know
Mary Jones 7:17:10 PM
Yeah, it’s wild that Robert Preston is in it! We’re also going to cover Victor/Victoria at some point.
Guelove 7:18:01 PM
At music in the park in Lawrence. Wasn’t expecting such a large crowd. Good band!
Lizbot (host) 7:18:27 PM
@Mary - Oooh, I need to revisit Victor/Victoria. Another one I saw a million years ago
Lizbot (host) 7:19:37 PM
@Guelove - Sounds fun! I love outdoor shows. Caught one of my husband's old jazz school professors performing in Pastorius Park in NW Philly last night. Summer nights with live music and picnic dinner are great
Guelove 7:24:06 PM
Big summer vibes everywhere
Lizbot (host) 7:24:20 PM
@Mary & Dennis - I recommend The Explorers by Joe Dante if you continue your space theme. A bit of a forgotten early River Phoenix movie! Dante made Gremlins and The 'Burbs
Lizbot (host) 7:25:04 PM
@Guelove - nice! I am going for a summery vibe with this playlist today as wel
Guelove 7:26:00 PM
I’m tuned back in. Sounding noice. Elevation time
Lizbot (host) 7:26:56 PM
@Guelove - excellent!
Mary Jones 7:27:12 PM
@Lizbot I haven’t heard of that movie! It’s going on the list for sure.
richard lyons 7:27:43 PM
Great playlist Lizbot! now paying attention. BMSR!!!
richard lyons 7:28:00 PM
Glad your back is a bit better.
jimbeaux 7:28:36 PM
SmackBrothRupertManeBow!
Lizbot (host) 7:29:02 PM
Hello Richard Lyons! Thank you! Yep, more music from Pittsburgh! Back is feeling a lot better now, but def not 100%! Makes me nervous I'll throw it out again if I'm not careful!
Lizbot (host) 7:29:28 PM
@Mary - Great! It's a fun one! it involves a Tilt-a-whirl, come to think of it!
Lizbot (host) 7:29:59 PM
Hi jimbeaux! haha, I love when Rupert ManeBow smacks some broth
richard lyons 7:30:15 PM
I don't like that feeling of back on the mend.
Lizbot (host) 7:30:49 PM
@Richard - Now I'm having back pain PTSD where I am so careful and worried anything will set it off
jimbeaux 7:31:40 PM
Yeeeeeeooo Bot! Back stuff sucks. I saved a lot of $ painting my own house, then ended up in PT for 3 months. What a deal!
richard lyons 7:33:42 PM
Yes BPPTSD. NG.
Lizbot (host) 7:35:13 PM
@jimbeaux - ugh, awful! you never know what will set it off! I was just brushing my teeth and then suddenly...! On my back for 3 days, muscle relaxers, lots of icy hot to distract from the pain. Back stuff is so scary
Lizbot (host) 7:35:28 PM
@Richard - BPPTSD haunts me
Ossy Hyouka 7:36:41 PM
So scary
DSM 7:39:13 PM
Ahhh, I feel for ya Lizbot, i’ve had on and off lower back problems, the most recent spell was last month. Like you said I’m always worried what will set it off, and never really know. Tho i do attribute it to many years of construction work coming back to haunt me. 👻
Lizbot (host) 7:39:13 PM
Up until this point I felt fairly lucky WRT back pain. As far as skeletal stuff, I have a lousy knee injury, but I have been fairly back-pain-free except for that one time I threw my back out visiting a friend in Madison, WI and I sat on her cursed futon and immediately killed my back, but that was 15 years ago!
Mary Jones 7:39:38 PM
I threw my back out, I guess in the winter? And it was awful. One day was so bad I went to the doctor afraid it was a kidney stone. I’ve since recovered, and started doing light yoga for physical therapy in the morning, which seems to help.
richard lyons 7:40:35 PM
:(
DSM 7:40:50 PM
I’ve found cat/camel stretch to help. And heating pad.
Mary Jones 7:41:11 PM
And eventually hip raises
Lizbot (host) 7:41:47 PM
@Mary - That sucks! Yeah, my father in law has some cord exercises he swears by for his back pain.
jimbeaux 7:43:31 PM
I throw everything at it...stretch strap, yoga, massage, raw onion poultices, hypnosis by cat, etc.
Lizbot (host) 7:44:41 PM
@jimbeaux - I'll take hypnosis by cat with a side of raw onions
DSM 7:44:51 PM
Lol, maybe I can borrow that hypno cat someday jimbeaux?
jimbeaux 7:45:16 PM
Then gradually work up to caramelized onions....
jimbeaux 7:46:48 PM
@DSM...Noodles my hypno-cat only travels by leash. Actually, he often lays on my lap whilst heat pad under me.
Lizbot (host) 7:51:40 PM
@DSM - Hypno-Cat > Hypno-Toad?
Lizbot (host) 7:52:16 PM
@jimbeaux - cat IS a heating pad. mmmm, caramelized onions...
TAndy 7:53:02 PM
All hail hypno toad
TAndy 7:53:20 PM
Thank you for the show by the way, I especially loved this last 45 minutes 💙
DSM 7:53:40 PM
Pass the hypno toad plz!! Lol
Mary Jones 7:53:49 PM
This song makes me wanna head out to sea. Not that it takes much for that.
Dennis Linggg 7:54:28 PM
Mary, come down off that gable.
Lizbot (host) 7:54:55 PM
@TAndy - Thanks!
DSM 7:55:06 PM
Indeed thanks Lizbot, great tunes this evening. See ya every body!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:30 PM
@Mary - I'll head out to sea any chance I can get. Can't wait to get down the shore again!
Ossy Hyouka 7:55:44 PM
Awesome broadcast, Lizzi!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:50 PM
Thanks, Ossy!
jimbeaux 7:56:47 PM
No toad-licking, pls!
TAndy 7:57:16 PM
I'm absorbing the road essence via osmosis
Mary Jones 7:57:31 PM
@Lizbot exactly—we have two weeks down the shore in August and can’t wait.
Rob from Maryland 7:57:36 PM
This was a nice show, Lizbot. I hope your back gets better!
jimbeaux 7:57:56 PM
🐸😝🌌
Lizbot (host) 7:59:12 PM
Thanks, Rob! And BTW, I saw a sweet rose-breasted grey bird in Jim Thorpe, PA this weekend. I'll send you a photo to identify it!
Ambrose Hughes 7:59:22 PM
Very enjoyable show Lizbot, thank you!
Lizbot (host) 7:59:47 PM
@Mary - Same! A week and a half right at the beginning of August and I am dying to get down there!
Lizbot (host) 7:59:55 PM
Thanks Ambrose!
Lizbot (host) 8:00:25 PM
@jimbeaux - but the toads just look so flavorful!
richard lyons 8:00:25 PM
Thank you Lizbot! Rest that back. I got to shoot a Sleater Kinney video directed by Miranda July:) "Get Up". 16mm film (Aaton) and a short at the Portland airport.
Lizbot (host) 8:00:57 PM
@TAndy - mmmm, road essence
jimbeaux 8:01:43 PM
Do not goad the Road Toad!
Lizbot (host) 8:03:24 PM
@jimbeaux - haha!
Lizbot (host) 8:04:01 PM
@Richard Lyon - oh wow! I love her! I got to talk to her briefly after her film Me You and Everyone We Know screened at the Philadelphia Film Festival years ago
Lizbot (host) 8:04:08 PM
Peth Time!
