@Padma: Jayanthi is, in my opinion, one among the most versatile veena players. I am surprise she has not yet been awarded the Sangeetha Kalanidhi

@Ram, no other instrument comes close to the Veenai for the Tanam experience.

This kriti in raga Nasamani is addressed to goddess Lalitha (Parvathi). Oh Lalitha, who is worshipped by Ramaa and Saraswathi, I salute thee. Many read it as Shri Raama, the husband of Ramaa

i prefer vocal rendering of Dikshitar compositions. There is so much to be enjoyed in listening to his choice of Sanskrit words

Lacking a functional knowledge of Sanskrit, I can only appreciate the quality of the voice and the melody.

GM, DTO. Learn Sanskrit. Keeps your brain young. Not very difficult to learn enough to appreciate the lyrics and the rich music they are embedded in
