Morning all!
TAndy 10:09:51 AM
Good beautiful morning! Good music, new car review videos, and a nice cup of coffee making this Monday morning better than anyone else's 💙
Sonny Boy III (host) 10:10:30 AM
:)
David Shortell 10:13:53 AM
I don't see many people calling themselves "Fats" these days.
Sonny Boy III (host) 10:14:40 AM
Waller.... Domino...
David Shortell 10:28:42 AM
The New Jersey band known as the Anderson Council derive their name from the surnames of the two bluesmen that inspired Pink Floyd’s name.
Sonny Boy III (host) 10:33:43 AM
Didn't know!
David Shortell 10:37:47 AM
I assume the place Scrapper Blackwell sang about is the hometown of Kokomo Arnold. Speaking of whom, you could probably do an entire program of versions of “Milk Cow Blues”. It’s interesting that what has become recognized as that song’s definitive version is sang by an 18-year-old English kid (Dave Davies).
Sonny Boy III (host) 10:40:29 AM
Kokomo Arnold may have named himself that because he did a version of Blackwell's tune. The Milk Cow blues would be quite a thing to chart out. So many versions, including unrelated blues songs using similar lyrical motifs.
Sonny Boy III (host) 10:40:38 AM
I think the Beatles did it in the "Get Back" movie
Li Maria 10:41:04 AM
Good morning, SBIII, David and TAndy. Interesting about the names, David. Wouldn't have thought Pink Floyd was so big into the blues, though I guess all rock was inspired by the blues
TAndy 10:42:13 AM
Good morning Maria :)
Sonny Boy III (host) 10:42:43 AM
Good morning! The earlier version of Pink Floyd, led by Syd Barrett, was more blues-oriented. Syd was really influenced by American music as were many British musicians of his generation.
TAndy 10:42:51 AM
Also there was the billiards player, Rudolf Walter Wanderone, popularly known as Minnesota Fats or New York Fats.
TAndy 10:44:54 AM
I never see most PF fans thinking fondly of the Syd Barrett era but I thought it was really neat. I'm definitely still a big fan of the period between his departure and The Wall, though. Atom Heart Mother was perfection.
Sonny Boy III (host) 10:45:53 AM
I even like Madcap Laughs...
Li Maria 10:46:00 AM
Oh--I'll have to give the earlier Pink Floyd a listen and see if I tell the difference. I think my husband is a Syd fan
Li Maria 10:46:32 AM
He's definitely a Pink Floyd fan
TAndy 10:46:36 AM
Relics was pretty good, even though my favorite song was Paintbox and had more to do with Rick Wright than anyone else. Lovely song 💙
TAndy 10:48:43 AM
My dear ol Dad is also a Pink Floyd fan, but he's more of a fan of The Wall, DSoTM, and Animals. Not much of a Syd fan himself, but I can understand why.
David Shortell 10:51:39 AM
I remember that Johnny "Guitar" Watson played at Tramps in the 90’s and I chose not to go for some reason. He died not long after.
Li Maria 10:51:52 AM
My dad probably should have been a Pink Floyd fan--he grew up around that time (Vietnam vet) but his friends teased him about listening to the music of the generation before
Brian D 10:55:40 AM
Albert King & Otis Rush "Door to Door " great lp! So many good ones on that
Li Maria 11:01:23 AM
Does anyone know why I can't click on the tracks in the playlist and listen to samples like I used to be able to?
David Shortell 11:02:35 AM
I hate to say it, but the first version of “Long Tall Texan” I can remember hearing was sang by Mike Love.

Thanks Paul!
Li Maria 11:59:14 AM
Thanks, SBIII! Happy Pride--catch you in 3
