Sangeet Team (host) 10:55:35 AM
Good morning, Padma.
PADMA GANESH 10:55:41 AM

Christine 10:56:47 AM
Good morning, Padma!
Sangeet Team (host) 10:59:12 AM
Padma, this is Dave sitting in the chat room. Rungun is actually sitting in a concert right now.
PADMA GANESH 11:00:03 AM
Hi Dave!
PADMA GANESH 11:00:29 AM
Good morning Christine!
PADMA GANESH 11:01:40 AM
@Dave I was referring to two of the Carnatic music pieces which are part of the learning primer for initiation into Carnatic music.
Sangeet Team (host) 11:03:12 AM
Ah, I understand now. That would have been an interesting theme.
PADMA GANESH 11:03:39 AM
@Dave I hope Rungun enlightens us all on all the music he heard today when he gets back from the concert :-)
Sangeet Team (host) 11:05:33 AM
We'll have to ask him about it.
Christine 11:10:51 AM
Dave? Who? Is he here?
Sangeet Team (host) 11:11:24 AM
Ha ha, Christine! "Dave's not here!"
Christine 11:16:06 AM
By the way, the vocals on the last piece were just incredible.
Sangeet Team (host) 11:17:34 AM
The Dagar family is one of the most illustrious in the dhrupad tradition.
Sangeet Team (host) 11:18:29 AM
You may recall last week, Sangeet aired a new rudra veena recording by Mohi Bahauddin Dagar, Zia Fariduddin's nephew.
PADMA GANESH 11:20:40 AM
Muslims have made astounding contributions over several decades to Indian classical music, Bollywood film industry and sports in India.
Sangeet Team (host) 11:21:20 AM
Dhrupad recordings, as I always note, tend to last over an hour, which is why we don't air them much.
PADMA GANESH 11:22:35 AM
The flute piece currently playing is a relatively long piece part of the “Five Gems” set composed by Tyagaraja.
PADMA GANESH 11:23:46 AM
“pancharatna’ means “Five Gems”= five grand compositions which are shining jewels
Sangeet Team (host) 11:23:58 AM
Padma, another good theme idea. I think I have enough recordings of those that I can present all 5 gems performed by different artists.
Christine 11:24:25 AM
It's regrettable that due to the length, dhrupad recordings don't get aired often.
Sangeet Team (host) 11:25:19 AM
True, Christine. But also I recognize that the slow nature of dhrupad can bore most listeners.
Christine 11:28:08 AM
💎 💎 💎 💎 💎 = 💡! Great idea, @Padma
Sangeet Team (host) 11:31:21 AM
@ Christine, dhrupad recordings might actually work well on "Music With Space". Slow and long is kind of their thing.
Christine 11:33:25 AM
I never thought of that. Paging Mike Hunter...!
Christine 11:55:54 AM
Thank you Dave, Padma, Rungun and entire Sangeet team 🙏
Sangeet Team (host) 11:56:42 AM
