I tuned in too late to hear Redd Kross. Roy McDonald was the only Muff I ever got to speak with–when I saw them for the final time, at Monty Hall in 2016. Kim was too much the center of attention for me to ever meet. I think she fell ill in the next year.

David Shortell 1:04:26 PM
I didn’t know about those Redd Kross demos. I saw them a few times in the Bob Hecker era and they’d pull interesting songs out of the hat. The first time I saw them, their set opened with Nilsson’s “Without You” and included the sitcom theme “Good Times”. Next time I saw them, they opened with a rendition of “It Won’t Be Long”. In Asbury Park, Hecker started “Born in the USA” but cracked up before getting far. Around the same time, a friend saw them in NYC where they covered “A Day in the Life”.

The inclusion of “Down on the Street” in “Kong: Skull Island” was the most far-fetched scene in that fantasy movie. A skull-shaped island inhabited by giant prehistoric monsters; that I can believe easily enough. But the crew of a 1973 military expedition dancing to the “Funhouse” LP playing on their turntable—GIVE ME A BREAK!!!

I didn’t know Drew directed a movie. None of the other Barrymores did! Though apparently John Drew directed a TV western in 1957.

I’m BoNkErS!! Not exactly *Crazy*. Yet. There’s still time! Let’s see what happens!?!
Esoterica (host) 2:00:55 PM
i am sorry, as soon as I said that, i regretted it (please accept my apologies).
Esoterica (host) 2:01:29 PM
@mr. m. as we know, bandying about terms like crazy is no laughing matter.:) i am sensitive to that, too.
Ambrose Hughes 2:04:02 PM
Sweet Gene Vincent😍
Esoterica (host) 2:05:06 PM
aw yes. speaking of sweet, there is a retrospective at film forum NYC of Montgomery Clift I think this weekend.
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 2:05:37 PM
I’m mainly being a goof. I do try to avoid using the term *crazy though. Mental health issues are real and serious. I’m certified as BoNkErS with every other letter capitalized. It’s in the DSM-V 🤪 (it’s not) 🥴🥴🥴
David Shortell 2:05:37 PM
I never watched “Hawaii Five-O”. The recurring villain was played by the same actor who played Oddjob in “Goldfinger”. The Untamed Youth (Deke Dickerson’s old band, that I saw several times over 30 years ago) recorded a song about a character that disappeared one season without explanation. From their sixth album, the song is “Where Did Kono Go?”
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 2:06:09 PM
DJ Esoterica, no need to apologize! We are good!
richard lyons 2:06:17 PM

yes me, too. @bo:)
David Shortell 2:19:47 PM
I don’t think the Film Forum streams, Eso. I saw “The Misfits” for the first time just this year–I don’t know what took me so long! I saw Vittorio De Sica’s “Terminal Station” on video, but maybe not this uncut Italian version that the Forum will show. I saw “From Here to Eternity” when it screened at local cinemas a few years ago. The parody "From Eternity Back to Here!" that Harvey Kurtzman wrote for Mad #12 was illustrated by the great Bernie Krigstein.
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 2:21:48 PM

Hi, Stevie P!
ѕтєνιє ρ 2:26:26 PM
What a PRB nightmare I had in the car. Traveling on the PA turnpike, it went from being DJE to some awful religious station preaching, apparently, the gospel of Q
ѕтєνιє ρ 2:26:31 PM
Hi M.
ѕтєνιє ρ 2:26:38 PM
M, Mister
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 2:26:49 PM

-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 2:29:05 PM
Get the WPRB app!
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 2:29:21 PM
Is there an APP?! I think so.
ѕтєνιє ρ 2:30:17 PM
No app required. I just stream it from the website on my phone and hook my phone into the car radio... or will in the future when heading into the wilderness.
Esoterica (host) 2:30:26 PM
stevie p! yes mr. m is right, i just plug in my phone to the car and press the listen now sitch on the wprb.com
ѕтєνιє ρ 2:30:39 PM
PS: I hate apps. Most of em are just wrappers for websites
Esoterica (host) 2:30:44 PM

I just remembered. I turned my telly on yesterday to the “Movies!” station (WNYW in NYC, WTXF in Philly) showing “The Seven Year Itch” with it’s spoof of the beach make-out scene from “From Here to Eternity”! I wish I could find an online video clip.

Sly & the Family Stone are in the doc "Summer of Soul". For some reason, the Sunday that they played was the only day the NYPD wouldn't be there. So the Black Panthers provided the security.
