Murray Street in Manhattan is very close to World Trade Center. SY's studio, Echo Canyon, is on Murray St. They were in midst of recording the lp when 9/11 occurred

This Fairport Connection sounds a lot like Fairport Convention to me.

Do you attend those Saturday jamborees at Albert Music Hall, Rocky Hill Richard? Or those monthly Sunday gatherings at Little Silver's Embury United Methodist Church?

For a slide, Gatton sometimes used a beer bottle or mug. In the March 1989 issue of Guitar Player magazine, Gatton said he preferred to use an Alka-Seltzer bottle or long 6L6 vacuum tube as a slide

I see Jerry Douglas's lp Under the Wire has everyone on it from the Skip Hop & Wobble lp (and more). Love that album

The Flock released this the same year the Kinks got their ban in America lifted. I'm sure they appreciated it.

Travesty that KINKS ban. Just as the rock concert world was changing and blowing up in a major way. And with one of their best lps ever recently released (Village Green Pres Soc). They really got held back and missed out

I remember a Melvin Van Peebles (who died last fall) retrospective at the Film Forum back in the 2000’s. It included a documentary I can’t remember the name of, which described the making of 1971’s “Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song”.

Years later in 2003, there was a drama, “Baadasssss!”, that described the 1971 film’s making, in which Melvin was played by his son Mario (who played Sweetback as a kid in the beginning of the 1971 film). And Melvin appears in the very last second of the 2003 film! I’m sorry if this is confusing.

I saw a film, not a documentary, starring his son Mario VanPeebles as dad Melvin that was about the making of Sweetbacks EtcEtc long title. That was really good. Melvin just about blinded himself puting in long hours editing the film
