Jóhann Gunnar Jóhannsson (19 September 1969 – 9 February 2018) was an Icelandic composer who wrote music for a wide array of media including theatre, dance, television, and film. His work is stylised by its blending of traditional orchestration with contemporary electronic elements.

This CD was inspired by his father, an IBM engineer and one of Iceland's first computer programmers, who used early hardware to compose melodies during his downtime at work. Jóhann used sounds produced from the electromagnetic emissions of the IBM 1401 as part of the composition.

i was there from day 1 of her solo career (thank you 120 Minutes) but have never seen her because her concerts have gotten a bit pricy

4AD is an example of a record label with a particular vibe that Rofflestomp and I were discussing earlier.

Good morning Dave, and thanks for the Vangelis tribute earlier!

Good morning, Bud. I'm glad you were able to catch it.
Bud Burroughs 9:48:14 AM
I never realized Johannsson was on 4AD. I only recently discovered his music, and there's a lot to exploer.

An interesting composer. Died tragically young.
Christine 9:49:50 AM

Cocaine with flu medication?
Christine 9:55:38 AM

ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 9:55:55 AM
Unless that is your intent.
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 9:56:52 AM
If that was his intent, does that qualify as tragic?
Christine 9:57:09 AM
😞
unoclay 9:57:24 AM
Tragic and preventable, unless that is your intent. (sounds like the name of a David Foster Wallace biography)

That could also be a subtitle for The New Abnormal.
Christine 9:58:35 AM
Thank you, DTO 🙏
