I went to All Tomorrow's Parties once (the one where My Bloody Valentine played) and I haaaated it. So many awful rich kids trashing the hotel / venue while the immigrant cleanup staff stood by watching dutifully, waiting for them to finish being over-entitled assholes. Never again.

My sister used to volunteer at the PFF concessions booth. My brother has played there with some of his musical projects.

You are right about Jonathan Richman's ability to create magic... Saw him in Jersey City a couple years back at a tiny place and I never saw so much love from an audience for an artist since Brian Wilson. Everyone put their cell phones away and lived in the moment

I used to have a comic book and poster store on Easton avenue in the 1970s. Jim from the smithereens moved in after I left and opened his store flaming groovy's, selling albums and other weird stuff- one favorite t-shirt they sold were the pep boys done as girls.

I used to produce buttons and things back in the day and made the first smithereens one and a half inch and 1 inch button for them. Still see Jim around, ran into him at Brian Wilson concert a couple years back

I got my man from Uncle lunch box from Jim at his store. New Brunswick used to be a great city, a lot of used record stores and wonderful stuff. The guys from the misfits came to town regularly, would stop in looking for old horror magazines and stuff

Carteret is home to the Smithereens and the White Castle of my youth. :)

Dennis from the Smithereens is a former colleague of mine and a giant sweetheart to boot.

They're all great regular guys... Pat was a little less approachable, in his own world, kind of the way a rock and roll singer / writer / ortiste should be
