Though they would all appear on later albums, this was the last album of the 1970s with the original lineup of the Elton John Band (guitarist Davey Johnstone, bassist Dee Murray, and drummer Nigel Olsson). Murray and Olsson, who had formed John's rhythm section since 1970, were fired prior to the recording of the follow-up album Rock of the Westies, while Johnstone would leave in 1978. This was the last album until 1983's Too Low for Zero that Elton John and his classic band would play on together.

Based in Hamilton, Ontario, the band consisted of guitarist and vocalist Edgar Breau, keyboardist John LaPlante (billed by the stage name Ping Romany), bass guitarist Kevin Christoff and drummer Neil DeMarchant. from Dark Entries: Ghibli is the solo project of musician, producer, and vocalist Alberto Garbelli, from Milan, Italy. At the age of 23, while reading a comic book, he encountered the word Ghibli, which is the name of the wind of the North African desert - and also a Maserati car model. Inspired by Klaus Nomi and Nina Hagen, he began to sing in an operatic fashion. During this time Alberto would frequent the local discotheques. Watching the unique mix of performers and dancers, Alberto lost his inhibitions and was inspired to become an artist.

While students at Blackpool Art College in 1981, Dave, Craig & myself (Mick), quickly discovered our shared interest in music and old English pubs. In no time, our shared student accommodation became a clutter of instruments beneath a nest of wires and recording equipment. Later, armed with our hard-earned student grant cheques, we booked recording time at the local Sunset Sound Studios. Blending synthesizers & drum machine with guitars, DAS KABINETTE was born.

I think I previously made this comment on the Sonic Bloom, but the music credits for “Medium Cool” are a complete mystery to me. Michael Bloomfield is credited for the music, but I never heard him in the movie at all! Meanwhile, the Mothers song is not credited, nor is Love’s “Emotions”--which is used in the beginning, middle and end of the movie!

I haven’t seen the Doughboys in a few years. They played at the Langosta Lounge sometimes. (I’m talking about the NJ band that’s been together since the 60’s, not the Montreal pop punk band.)
