David Shortell 12:53:56 PM
Astronomers theorize that white dwarfs will eventually run out of light and become black dwarfs, but the universe isn’t old enough for that to have happened yet.
David Shortell 12:53:59 PM
There was that old Star Trek episode where Kirk’s log mentions a “black star” that caught the Enterprise in its gravity field. It would’ve been better if the writer called it a “black hole” but most people never heard of those things in the 1960’s.
Esoterica (host) 12:55:13 PM

Esoterica (host) 1:10:40 PM
dustin, anything to add to our take-home about HB?
David Shortell 1:10:42 PM
I read the 19th century novel “Venus in Furs” by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, after whom the word masochism was coined. His descendent Marianne Faithfull said the line “I must have been a masochist” in her movie “Girl On a Motorcycle”. That was almost metafictional!
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 1:10:42 PM
Adding that it was NEGATIVLAND was beneficial, Christine! Enjoy the melt! 😵‍💫

My pleasure listening is always a treat for me.
Esoterica (host) 1:44:47 PM
how have you been, hjg?
David Shortell 1:45:43 PM
I was disappointed by the lack of S/M activity in Masoch’s novel. Its cruelties were more psychological than physical. I might find more of the latter in his widow’s memoirs, published a decade after his passing. An English translation of “The Confessions of Wanda von Sacher-Masoch” was finally published in 1990 by Re/Search. I bought a copy last summer from a WFMU dj’s store at the Antique Emporium of Asbury Park, but I don’t know if I’ll ever read it.
Esoterica (host) 1:46:01 PM

I've seen a direct iconic reference of Godfather in 1996 movie, Set It Off
Esoterica (host) 2:18:27 PM
aw thx, mr. m:)

Keep up the great selections, DJ Esoterica!
David Shortell 2:19:17 PM
I’ve been watching certain “Barney Miller” episodes lately: the Linda Lavin and Fish-centric episodes. The first time we see Fish’s home, he has a daughter who I don’t remember appearing in the spin-off series "Fish”.
David Shortell 2:19:20 PM
A few years after the cancelation of “Fish”, he visits Barney Miller’s precinct and mentions what happened to its characters since then.
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 2:20:16 PM
Linda Lavin is a GEM 💎💖🌟
Esoterica (host) 2:20:54 PM
true, mr. m
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 2:21:04 PM
Today’s chat is hilarious 🤣
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 2:21:54 PM
I just typed about Linda Lavin. I hope she pops in the chat.
David Shortell 2:22:28 PM
I was quite smitten by the girl who played Jilly on “Fish”. The actor who played Victor went into the construction business, and got convicted for taking half a million dollars in bribes.
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 2:24:14 PM
Jilly Papalardo?!
Brian D 2:29:05 PM
Warren Cucarullo? Vinnie Colauita?
David Shortell 2:29:41 PM
Francis Ford Coppola’s daughter Sofia (director of “The Virgin Suicides”, “Marie Antoinette”, “Lost in Translation”) made her acting debut in “The Godfather”. She was Michael’s son in the baptism scene! Years later, she’d play Michael’s daughter in Part III.
Brian D 2:31:22 PM
Madonna was on the list to play the part that went to Bridget Fonda in G3. I remember the press before the film was released mentioning Madonna.
Brian D 2:33:37 PM
No maybe it was for the part of Michael's daughter that went to Sofia C.... searches show that... i seem to remember it being the Bridget F role but...
Esoterica (host) 2:34:23 PM
haha re: linda lavin, mr. m

Brian D 2:37:35 PM
Bass keyboards go low. Bass guitar plays the high notes. Cool role reversal of sorts
Esoterica (host) 2:38:01 PM

Brian D 2:44:19 PM
Now the bass really goes low and takes of!

Besides the Morlocks, there's a band called the Eloi (the other subspecies in the Wells novel).
