@ Commie Francis (host) I walked back into radio speaker range as you were finishing the intro for "I Am the Worm," so sorry if you spoke about all this, but ... 19th C. novelist/theatre person Bram Stoker of "Dracula" fame wrote "The Lair of the White Worm" based on the Lambton Wurm legend (a "Wurm" being a giant snake). @ Commie Francis (host) Yes, apparently songwriter (and early record company exec) William Myer lobbied Hurt to record it, but Hurt didn't like Myer's melody. So he subbed that of "Waiting for a Train." I gotta find out more about Myer, sounds like a talented character.
