one my old bands had a song titled Hot Lava as well. Heavy duty hard surfabilly tune. Would often think of the B52s tune when we played it

Ya many stringed things in the house . And my wife has 2 big gongs! Those are fun. Make low thunder and whale sounds etc

my living room has no music gear. I spend the least amount of time in there.....🤔

Never smash a gong. Never hit it dead center. can totally ruin them, warp them etc. Rules to live by.

We sell those large gongs where I work. I'm quite familiar with the great low tones and how to pull the sound from them

one of the hats i wear here is recording sound samples for customers.

O wow ! Ya there is a whole gong world out there. My wife took some great courses a few yrs back.

Loving the tunes mista spinna. Speaking of gongs, I don’t have any, but my grandma has these very large Haitian pot tops that actually make a pretty great sound. Got to do a recording soon

We have those sticks with the little "super balls" on the end. You squeak them across the surface to get the whale/ bird calls etc

Great songwriter Bobby Charles.Geoff Muldaur also does great version of this song.

Considering what a good Zildjian symbol goes for I can only imagine what a good gong goes for. Yikes!

We do sell the Zildjian gongs. mostly our proprietary brand. we buy direct from the craftsman over seas. (which is the same place zildjian also buys from and slaps their logo on and charges more.)

…gongs contain the entire universe of sound. Ever seen a violin bow used on one? Just wondering

Used to stay in El Paso a couple of days at a time once in a while, and the south of the border music they would play on the radio was mind blowing sometimes.

there is a dj out of brazil i listen to regularly online. He's all vinyl and covers a wide range of Brazilian and other south American rock, punk, electronic.... all of it from all the ages. most of those artist's music never make it up noth.

that was in response to roffle talking about south of the boarder music. so much great undiscovered stuff out there.

what is the name of the dj? ya some of these tracks are amazing but arent played on the radio much here

@Colin - A lot of Canadian stuff gets the same treatment unless you listen to CBC. But yea, it really is great and totally overlooked by the main stream broadcasters for sure.

Colin do you have the radio station and city for that dj? Something that could be tuned in via an FM tuner app or website?

The legendary Azymuth. Headed into Asbury Park, signal getting real hairy… yesterday I tried to cycle through The stations. Surprise Suprise, found nothing till I came back to 1033, still better than the rest even with the fuzz. I’ll listen to end! thanks breezy
