Their whole family moved from Amritsar, in eastern Punjab (india) to Lahore, Pakistan when she was 18 years old. She learnt Khayal, Thumri and Dadra from Ustad Ashiq Ali Khan of Patiala gharana. Her sister is the singer Mukhtar Begum. |
