@Mark - The tiny snippet before the station ID I played is a piece by electronic composer Laurie Spiegel from the 70s called Patchwork

@Brian D - I've played it in full a lot! But yeah, it's also the track that I send to the station as my contact signal when I'm live remote broadcasting every week. Sometimes I do a different Spiegel piece, but usually Patchwork as my contact signal. We need to be sending a signal to the transmitter from our homes, us LRB DJs, before the end of the previous show so we know the transmitter is picking us up

@Bud - I think my kid would like Akhnaten. She had a ancient Egypt phase a few years back and I think she'd be into the set and costumes and she's used to me playing Philip Glass, BUT I don't think she'll be down for 3 hours of it. I think she'd get impatient at the 2 hour mark...maaaaybe not

@DSM - haha! Maybe it felt more like Art Clokey's more experimental stop-motion claymation! That doc I saw on him a buncha years back, "Gumby Dharma," showed some of his trippy earlier work

I have to give at least partial credit to this Invisible Touch album that came out when I was first buying my own tapes for making me obsessed with synths

I have a lot of mixed feelings about Invisible Touch as an album, but I always thought that "The Brazilian" was an absolute standout.

Hi Joseph! Yes! I love a lot of earlier Genesis and Invisible Touch got very commercial. My favorite Phil era Genesis album is still Duke, and then I have a soft spot for a lot of the Peter Gabriel era stuff, but I have deep nostalgia for The Brazilian

@DSM - It's pretty good! Clokey had some family trauma he channeled for one of those darker early short claymation films

@Mark - haha, yeah. I liked that album cover when I was 10, and I liked drawing hands, so there you go! I also cut out that round lattice on the cover of The Who's Tommy with an x-acto blade and made a 3-D cover of that when I was in Mr. Cook's art class!

I heard Anthony Roth Costanzo at a Princeton University Dept. of Music showcase in Taplin Auditorium featuring then-freshmen who were declaring departmental majors in performance. Young Mr. Constanzo came out and took his spot. His pianist began, he opened his mouth and commenced to sing -- and my mouth (and just about everyone else's) dropped open. That voice! Clear, strong, impeccably pitched, beautiful and impossibly high. Wondrous!

@ Lizbot (host) Yes, I also had the joy of seeing/hearing Anthony Roth Costanzo's senior thesis performance in Richardson Auditorium of Alexander Hall. A short opera (sorry, forgot the title) originally composed 3 or 4 centuries ago for the counter-tenor - maybe even the castratti! - range. Although ARC is NOT a castratti, his natural vocal talents have allowed him to perform that rare repetoire. It was special. I have an autographed program somewhere ...

@Carlos - ha, I was vegetarian for 20 years, and vegan for 10 of those years, but I am no longer, so I won't have any problems eating there! When I used to visit my friend in Madrid once a year (before she moved to Baltimore) I was vegan and those visits began in the 90s through the late-2000s and EVERYONE tried to serve me ham! There was even a chain called Museo de Jamón! ha!

@Carlos - The first time I got into Astor Piazzolla I wanted to go to Buenos Aires, and the more I read about BA, the more I want to visit there!

When my daughter went vegetarian in High School. My parents had a tough time with that. Pretty sure my dad had never cooked a vegetable on the parilla

@Carlos - haha, yeah my parents eat a lot of fish and chicken. They told me when I went vegetarian at 15 that I had to cook my own meals. I actually tried going vegetarian at 13 and got tired of cooking my own stuff, so I gave in, but by 15 I'd learned to cook for myself enough decent meals to subsist on!

Happy to say both of my kids are late 20 and both Vegan..

@Christine & Ossy - I love Rainbow In Curved Air! I played that last summer on ++good and one another episode of the show that was rainbow themed! I also played the 70s British band Curved Air back to back with it once! I love listening to Terry Riley by the ocean. Try it some time if you haven't! I sat by Barnegat Bay last summer listening to Rainbow In Curved Air, In C and Celestial Valley from his Shri Camel

@Carlos - The thing that made my parents have to start accommodating my vegetarianism (and later, veganism) was when my brother started daring (and then married) a vegetarian! Ha! Suddenly we were going out to vegetarian restaurants for family meals

@Christine - yes! do it! the summer isn't far away! One of my favorite things is listening to music on headphones by the water, particularly after a day at the beach of swimming and reading, I like to listen to music while watching the sunset on the bay. Lots of blocks end with a public bench on the bayside of LBI

@Christine - Ambler Theater is so beautiful! We indulged and saw two things there yesterday - the animated shorts program and also Peter Bogdanovich's Paper Moon, which they screened for their "Deep Focus" series, AND we took Hattie to see Paper Moon, which was so satisfying to see on the big screen! Been wanting to show her that for years and this was the ideal way!

@Mark - I saw international mystery man Tommy Wiseau at Ritz Bourse years ago. He comes to the Ritz often for late-night The Room screenings and this time he showed some episodes from his TV show beforehand. I wasn't sure those would be any fun, but they were just as ridiculous as The Room, if not more self-aware. Everyone in the audience brought plastic spoons to throw at the screen whenever that painting of a spoon appeared

@jimbeaux - Yes! And presale is TODAY! Regular ticket sale for Philly show is tomorrow at 10 am. Franklin Music Hall (AKA The Electric Factory). I saw them at the Electric Factory opening for Sonic Youth in 2000. Saw them a few other times, but that most recent tour a couple of years ago REALLY brought out the prb DJs!
