Good evening everyone. R.I.P. Mark Lanegan. I really didn't know anything about his music until Tuesday night, when I ended up listening to KEXP's hours-long tribute to him.
Lizbot (host) 5:28:22 PM
@Mark - So many ex-members bitter with Fripp working them too hard or feeling like the band couldn't go on without them !
Lizbot (host) 5:28:26 PM
Hello Rob!
Rob from Maryland, Brood X fan 5:28:59 PM
Also R.I.P. Ian McDonald. King Crimson was the first prog band I got into back in the 70s (but only after they had broken up)

Lizbot (host) 5:29:14 PM
Somebody, possible you Mark?, brought up Deadly Valentine a couple weeks ago in the ++good chat and put it on my mind to play soon

Ossy Hyouka 5:30:21 PM
Dark lovely that theme is, deadly beauty
mark 5:30:35 PM
haha yeah i did !! love charlotte could listen all day :)
Lizbot (host) 5:30:35 PM
@Rob - they broke up officially and unofficially and reformed so many times. it's like they've been many different bands. the version with Belew wasn't even going to be called King Crimson at first! I think it was going to be called Discipline and Belew said that was no fun!
Roffle... 5:30:40 PM
I like Charlotte Gainsbourg. Her stuff from a few years ago is nice and quirky.
Buck Wild 5:31:07 PM
💥 thanks!
Lizbot (host) 5:31:37 PM
@Mark - I think I mentioned then 2 weeks to you the film with C Gainsbourg and Gael Garcia Bernal, The Science of Sleep, dir by Michel Gondry. Good stuff.
Lizbot (host) 5:31:43 PM
Hello Buck!
mark 5:32:47 PM
right isn’t it coming to ritz & then i mentioned she’s doing a doc w mom Jane
Lizbot (host) 5:34:22 PM
@Rob - I don't know if you saw my promo today, but it featured a nice round borb! I wonder if the woman whose resplendent quetzal photos you shared had the same Costa Rican birder guide as me! I found this guy Issac in Uvita who used to work giving tours of San Gerardo de Dota. He found an avocado tree with a nesting pair and I got similar photos to hers! We set out from Uvita before sunrise

@Mark - ah, Lars von Trier...I have such mixed emotions about his films!
Lizbot (host) 5:35:38 PM
Hello Addie!
Lizbot (host) 5:36:21 PM
@Addie - How's the kid and the snows of VT?
Lizbot (host) 5:37:20 PM
@Mark - Science of Sleep? I dunno. It'd be a retrospective if it did. It came out in 2006. I saw it at the ritz back then. Looking forward to that doc!
mark 5:37:36 PM
@lizbot which you should ! that charlotte film was described as art house porn
mark 5:38:38 PM
I must have mistook science sleep for another one
Rob from Maryland, Brood X fan 5:43:17 PM
@Lizbot, I didn't see your promo, rats. It would be neat if the other birder had the same guide as you!
Addie Plum 🐍 5:43:38 PM
@lizbot the kiddo is psyched because it’s python feeding day. More snow on the way tomorrow after a weird 50+ degree day yesterday!
Rob from Maryland, Brood X fan 5:46:06 PM
@Lizbot, I only followed the original King Crimson(s). Once the Discipline era started, I was allergic to old bands reforming and ignored them, probably to my detriment
Lizbot (host) 5:46:31 PM
@mark - yeah, pretty much. But even the less risqué Von Trier films I am just on the fence about. I feel like Breaking the Waves and Dancer In the Dark felt...off...in a way that seemed to revel a bit too much in the lead actresses' pain. There's a touch of that in his films. I feel like he wrangles tears out of me but in a way that feels cheap. Same with Melancholia. My favorite film of his is actually The Idiots because it's more irreverent.
Lizbot (host) 5:47:13 PM
@Mark - And I actually really liked his odd medical limited series from 20+ years ago, The Kingdom. Aside from his work, he seems like he's not the best dude. but anyway
Rob from Maryland, Brood X fan 5:48:04 PM
@Addie, it was 70+ degrees for me yesterday. Today, I think the daytime temperature actually climbed to 37 degrees. Brrrr
Lizbot (host) 5:48:17 PM
@Addie - Oooooh, is he getting frozen mouse-sicles? That's what we used to called the frozen mice for the birds of prey when I worked at Academy of Natural Sciences as a teen.
Lizbot (host) 5:48:44 PM
@Addie - Weather here has been super weird too! So warm - 65 degrees- yesterday! Winter storm today!
Lizbot (host) 5:49:37 PM
@Rob - The funny thing is, while I don't prefer Belew era Crimson (though I do like it, it's not my favorite era,) it introduced me to Belew's solo stuff, which I prefer to his work with KC
mark 5:51:47 PM
@lizbot your voluminous film knowledge & opinion never ceases to amaze ! when r you gonna offer a film class ? :)
Lizbot (host) 5:53:16 PM
Speaking of American Utopia...
Brian D 5:54:03 PM
hearing Yaz in recent years makes me think of The Americans show. The cool Russian spy dad undercover in the USA bought his daughter the Yaz lp right when it came out. Couple songs played during the episode.
Lizbot (host) 5:54:04 PM
@Mark - Sounds like fun!
Lizbot (host) 5:56:10 PM
In David Byrne's intro to this song at the live show he talks about how this is meant to convey uneasiness - the man in the song is ambivalent about everybody coming to their house (written pre-Covid, fyi), but then he recorded a version with a group of Detroit high school choir kids, and their version is joyful and excited at the prospect of everyone coming over to their houses!
Addie Plum 🐍 5:56:31 PM
@rob wow, that’s really warm! These weird temperature swings are disconcerting to me
Lizbot (host) 5:57:25 PM
@Brian D - I keep hearing good things about that show and I know someone who's really into it, but I haven't checked it out yet
Brian D 5:57:26 PM

@Addie - Yeah, for real. Good thing there are mousesicles! We used to have to collect the owl pellets for display after feeding the owls
mark 5:58:45 PM
just noticed that lizbot “sparked” on last mic 🎤 break !
Brian D 5:59:29 PM
I thought they did a good job w the early 80s era. Watched it all after it aired (Americans). That and Stranger Things are fun to check out cuz I was about same age as some of the characters in that same era.
Lizbot (host) 5:59:32 PM
@mark - sparks are flying (and going home)
Lizbot (host) 6:00:26 PM
@Brian D - I do enjoy Stranger Things, as does my kid. We love to watch it together! VERY overdue for that long-awaited 4th season of ST!
Lizbot (host) 6:00:56 PM
@Brian D - I feel like ST nails the nostalgia while also adding something new and I appreciate the dark synth soundtrack
Brian D 6:01:23 PM
I am only about 1 & 1/2 seasons in... slacking
Brian D 6:01:49 PM
Wynona all growed up as the mom
Lizbot (host) 6:03:26 PM
@Brian D - Of The Americans or of Stranger Things? My daughter and I were so hard up for new Stranger Things episodes, we rewatched all of season 2 after streaming season 3 in the summer of 2019. Then we went back and watched S3 in summer of 2020. Since then they pushed back the S4 release date so many times due to delays
Randy Marthins 6:04:28 PM
Excellent job introducing the young people to Talking Heads/David Byrne --- that's fine parenting by you both
Lizbot (host) 6:04:29 PM
@Brian D - I can only assume and hope you've seen at GIF of Wynona with the pizza slices at the Emmys for a ST win. If not, look it up!

Lizbot (host) 6:07:19 PM
And here is a Talking Heads reference in this song!
Lizbot (host) 6:07:29 PM
@Addie - Yes! BUT you guys have creemees there in VT!
Addie Plum 🐍 6:07:31 PM
😮😮😮
Addie Plum 🐍 6:07:46 PM
Creemees just can not compare, imho
Lizbot (host) 6:07:57 PM
@Addie - I had amazing maple creemee near Charlotte, VT last summer at Cookie Love
Addie Plum 🐍 6:08:29 PM
Oh cookie love! I always mean to stop there. I’ll give it a try this summer.
Lizbot (host) 6:10:01 PM
@Addie - I do love Evergreen frozen custard on the way down the shore on Rte 70 in the Pineys near Medford! That's my tradition, esp on the way home from the shore - a consolation prize! My go-to order is vanilla with rainbow jimmies on a pretzel cone, sometimes vanilla & orange custard swirl to recreate a dreamsicle flavor!
Randy Marthins 6:10:17 PM
There is a podcast called "This must be Talking Heads" where the host examines each song on each album, one album per episode; plus, he's had Chris and Jerry as guests
Lizbot (host) 6:10:30 PM
I played that OCDJ track a bunch of years ago when I did an ice cream themed episode! O
Lizbot (host) 6:10:53 PM
@Mark - No problem! It needs to be seen and remembered! It's a classic
Lizbot (host) 6:12:12 PM
@Randy - Good to know! I'm always looking for more podcasts and that's one my kid would like too. She recorded a cover of Nothing But Flowers earlier this year! I have a long road trip this summer and that'll be a good one to check out
Addie Plum 🐍 6:13:50 PM
@lizbot Evergreen is a fave of mine too! Next time I’m down in the right season I’m heading there for sure.
Lizbot (host) 6:13:58 PM
@Addie - I am no creemee expert, but of the maybe 6 places we tried during the course of that 2-week road trip , Cookie Love was by far my favorite! George's cousin lives in Charlotte and her teen daughter wants a summer job at Cookie Love - free creemees!
Addie Plum 🐍 6:14:17 PM
@randy that sounds like a great podcast! Thanks for the rec
Lizbot (host) 6:16:20 PM
@Addie - Yeah, the Evergreen tradition goes back to when my mom was a camp counselor at Matolleonequay in Medford in the late 50s and always snuck out with fellow counselors for dinner at The Lucky 7 followed by custard at Evergreen.
Lizbot (host) 6:17:28 PM
@Addie - The Lucky & drive-in was still there when I was a kid and she used to take me there on the way to drop me off at summer camp to split a hoagie, followed by Evergreen, but one day we found half a roach in our hoagie, thus ended the Lucky 7 portion of that tradition!
Addie Plum 🐍 6:18:06 PM
Ewwww, hoagie roaches!!
Brian D 6:19:10 PM
Had some good grub at Red Hen in VT over the summer. Middlesex near Waterbury/Montpelier. Good homemade bread, breakfast sandwiches. Tried the maple creamie pretty darn good. But I am a hard ice cream fan all the way. I was happy that it was not too mapley. More like a honey ice cream flavor.
Lizbot (host) 6:20:47 PM
Annnnnd R.I.P. Betty Davis. February 2022 we lost a lotta great artists.
Lizbot (host) 6:21:18 PM
@Addie - Yeah...what's worse? HALF a hoagie roach! WHERE did the OTHER HALF go?! We'd already eaten some!
Brian D 6:21:45 PM
Have not been to the brightly colored TKs Ice Cream in NJ in a long time. In the appropriately named Cream Ridge area. Used to stop there on the way to Island Beach State Park. Or back home.
Addie Plum 🐍 6:22:57 PM
I also always liked the White Dotte custard stand. Good stuff.
mark 6:23:52 PM
@lizbot at least there wasn’t a “frozen mousecicle”
Brian D 6:24:49 PM
Just heard about new release that sounds like it has WPRB written all over it: " Hamid El Shaeri – The SLAM! Years (1983-1988)" Arabic funk and soul.
Lizbot (host) 6:24:52 PM
"the world is a SHIP" SHhhhhip. and the sail has a tear. just in case there is any confusion!
Lizbot (host) 6:25:57 PM
@Mark- ha! Might be preferable...
Lizbot (host) 6:26:04 PM
The snake's special!
Lizbot (host) 6:26:18 PM
The chef was a snake and sadly not Emeril
Jimbo Daily 6:28:31 PM
I hope you can recycle Betty Davis into a lovely musical Robot. WPRB = Where People (are) Recycled (into) Bots!
Brian D 6:30:11 PM
good one there Jimbo D!
Ossy Hyouka 6:35:15 PM
Africa Afrobeats ❤💛🖤💚
Lizbot (host) 6:35:46 PM
Hello Jimbo! haha, I think her outfits are perfect for a Betty Bot!
Lizbot (host) 6:36:08 PM
@Ossy - Yes! Endless love for Afrobeat! Love Konono!
Lizbot (host) 6:37:37 PM
@Jimbo / Brian D - Reminds me of an SNL sketch from several years back where Bill Hader is a dead man recycled as a bot and total family entertainment system called "The Alan". He's a stinker! It was cut for time but I stumbled upon it online
Lizbot (host) 6:38:09 PM
@Addie - hmmm, I don't know White Dotte! Gotta try that one some time! Where is it?
Lizbot (host) 6:41:16 PM
@Brian D- I gotta sample some Cream Ridge and TKs too! Ride the cream bridge to TKs!
Lizbot (host) 6:41:45 PM
@Brian D - I heard that Hamid El Shaeri release. Good stuff!
Brian D 6:43:44 PM
Bobby Fuller so so good
Addie Plum 🐍 6:44:48 PM
@lizbot route 38 way on out in Southampton
Lizbot (host) 6:45:49 PM
@Brian D - srsly. Bobby Fuller died way too young. Such a crazy story, totally unsolved murder but suspected mob involvement. Let Her Dance and Never to Be Forgotten are two of my all-time favs
Lizbot (host) 6:47:20 PM
@Addie - Ah! That's like 30 minutes from my parents' house
Brian D 6:48:05 PM
Les Filles de Illighadad : one of my fave releases in past 2 years. That desert guitar sound... hypnotic
Lizbot (host) 6:50:49 PM
@Brian D - That Tuareg stuff is so good!
mark 6:52:17 PM
and now a new rabbit hole to go down: the bobby fuller death - some speculation about manson involvement
CARLOS RAMONE 6:55:21 PM
@lizbot…love the story about the clash hearing I fought the law on a USA tour at a diner and decided they needed to cover it
Brian D 6:56:04 PM
Love Jello's reworking of the lyrics.
CARLOS RAMONE 6:56:13 PM
Dead Kennedy’s version is great also
CARLOS RAMONE 6:56:48 PM
Twinkies are the best friends I ever had
Lizbot (host) 6:58:30 PM
can't help but throw my hands in the air on those "ooooohs!"
Brian D 6:59:17 PM
What a session here...
Lizbot (host) 6:59:41 PM
@mark - yeah, that's quite a deep rabbit hole! I've fallen down it before a few times!
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 7:01:54 PM
BAM I'm back after the dinner rush
Lizbot (host) 7:03:13 PM
@Carlos / Brian D - yes! SUCH a great cover, The Clash version, and the Jello version always cracks me up, but I listened to the Dead Kennedys version throughout my teen years without knowing the Twinkie defense reference of Harvey Milk assassination story
Lizbot (host) 7:03:45 PM
Welcome back, Chef! You missed talk of a roach-spiked hoagie from a former Pine Barrens drive-in!
Lizbot (host) 7:04:46 PM
sorta like a Love parasite in my lunch
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 7:05:54 PM
Lunch parasite
Randy Marthins 7:07:13 PM
Twinkie defense was Harvey Milk? I thought that was NYC subway guy? Which leads to Guardian Angels > "Red Angel Dragnet" on "Combat Rock"
Randy Marthins 7:08:22 PM
Also, a most terrifying moment when I first lived in Philly was when I found out roaches can FLY!!!
Addie Plum 🐍 7:08:48 PM
That is the worst moment @ randy
Randy Marthins 7:09:40 PM
@addie - sounded like a dragonfly prrrrrrrrtthhthhthh
Lizbot (host) 7:10:19 PM
@Chef - Twinkies, hoagies, mousesicles, roaches and frozen custard - Those are your ingredients from today's chat. What of that whatever dinner you can dream up!
Ossy Hyouka 7:10:34 PM
Ewww, roaches are scary and disgusting. During a summer family visit, I saw roaches take flight a few times 🤢🤢🤢🤢😱😱😱😱😱
Randy Marthins 7:11:03 PM
Iron Chef w/Lizbot ---ALLEZ CUISINE!!!
Lizbot (host) 7:12:33 PM
@Randy / Addie - I flipped out when I got my first apartment in my early 20s. It was in Philly across from Monk's Cafe and another restaurant that's now gone (and I blame that other restaurant because I never saw evidence of the bugs coming from monk's!) The dumpster of the other place was a roach condo and my first night in my new place I had a bit of meltdown when I realized they had made themselves comfy in my new place while it was vacate!
Randy Marthins 7:12:50 PM
Remember when we had the cicada invasion last year and they said "Don't eat cicadas if you have a shellfish allergy?"
Addie Plum 🐍 7:13:43 PM
@lizbot oh nooooooo
Randy Marthins 7:13:55 PM
@lizbot you can blame Oscars
George Korein 7:14:08 PM
I just saw the video for this song
Lizbot (host) 7:14:47 PM
@Randy / Addie - Then I discovered the horror of palmetto bugs! I didn't know they were a diff species and thought I had a massive monster roach on the inside of my window! I beat it when a dust pan before work and thought it was dead, then ran to catch my bus waiting to clean it off my floor when I got home. Fast forward hours later, I come home and it is back in the EXACT SAME SPOT on my curtain, MOCKING ME. But at least those things are like sloooow tanks
Lizbot (host) 7:15:18 PM
@Randy - ew.................. Yeah, I went up to Princeton in the midst of the magicicada invasion. So much buzzing
Lizbot (host) 7:15:51 PM
@George - nice. I have never checked out the video. Any good?
mark 7:16:48 PM
any brood X still around to throw into that stew you proposed ? :)
Lizbot (host) 7:16:50 PM
@Ossy - Ugh. The worst are the flying roaches! It seems the smaller series is faster. blech!
Randy Marthins 7:17:54 PM
Hahahaha - if "brood x" isn't a band name, it should've been
Lizbot (host) 7:18:12 PM
I feel like this Moon Hooch song needs a video if It doesn't already have one. I am envisioning prancing beasts in unison...maybe some cicadas, but no roaches are invited!
Lizbot (host) 7:19:12 PM
@Randy - We were talking about that in this chat a bunch during the summer of 2021- how Brood X is an amazing band name! Might already be a band out there that uses it for all I know
Ossy Hyouka 7:20:13 PM
Asian Giant Hornets are devils, Liz. One look at them made me faint like my soul was taken
Randy Marthins 7:20:52 PM
Soft White Underbelly was Blue Oyster Cult's original name - I think they meant belly of catfish, but cicadas fit the profile as well
Lizbot (host) 7:21:25 PM
@Emeril - You get 1 roach, 1 Twinkie, 15,000 cicadas, and some lunchmeat. GO!
Randy Marthins 7:22:03 PM
Cicada piccata
mark 7:22:13 PM
ha there’s an article about saxophonist who played w brood X as his background noise
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 7:22:44 PM
maybe the band "brand x" are cicadas in disguise...
Randy Marthins 7:24:26 PM
Phil collins looks like a bug, you may be on to something
Lizbot (host) 7:25:08 PM
@Ossy - Nope nope nope! I've looked them up - NOPE!!
Lizbot (host) 7:25:20 PM
@Ossy - and I am allergic to regular old bee stings!
Ossy Hyouka 7:25:43 PM
And Tarzan ate bugs, during his lifetime before he discovered he was a human, LOL, Randy
Lizbot (host) 7:25:47 PM
@Randy - Cicada piccata! Ha!
Ossy Hyouka 7:26:14 PM
Lizbot - You aren't scared the slightest!? 🤣
Lizbot (host) 7:26:25 PM
@mark - I am 100% in support for cicada backing bands
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 7:26:42 PM
ALLEZ CUISINE - first, obviously, you melt the mouseicles, shave them (set hair aside), skin them, and eat all but the bones like cleaning off a chicken wing, in order to intimidate your opponent. You then mince the roaches on a flat top, adding the sweaty onions from the hoagie. Remove the cream from the twinkie, and split THAT in half like a hoagie roll. mix the twinkie cream and frozen custard into a whiz-like consistency and add to the minced roach & sweaty onions. Let melt.
Randy Marthins 7:27:10 PM
I'm claiming cicada piccata - I'll play bass; who wants in?
George Korein 7:27:24 PM
I like this solo
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 7:27:40 PM
Add the twinkie roll on top, let it steam for a min, and flip it over. Sprinkle the mouse hair on top (season to taste). Serve with a side of mouse bones. BAM YOU'VE GOT A ROACHSTEAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
George Korein 7:28:00 PM
sounds like a sad beasty singing
mark 7:28:33 PM
haha love lizbot present mic break activity!
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 7:29:01 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:33:29 PM
This is a lovely ditty to chomp Randy's signature cicada piccata and Emeril's custom roach steak to
Lizbot (host) 7:33:46 PM
@Rob - hahah, I knew the magicicada talk would summon you back!
Randy Marthins 7:33:47 PM
@emeril - see I would deconstruct the twinkle, roll it out into sheets, break up the hoagie, then make a Wawa cicada mouse-agna
Ossy Hyouka 7:33:50 PM
ALRIGHT Liz! Re looked them up and they look like the pokrmon Beedrill in real life, but still scary demons of their acid venom, LOOOL
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 7:33:52 PM
This talk of cicadas is bringing me back to my youth- summer 2021! ahhh
mark 7:34:11 PM
my has this foodie chat taken a left turn hope the lucky 7 didn’t see that recipe
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 7:34:32 PM
@Randy WOW, you are truly kicking it up a notch. I might have to nominate you for a Bammy
Lizbot (host) 7:34:58 PM
@Chef - Summer 2021- the magi[cicada] times. Those were the days. Let's hope they come again (in 17 years)
Ossy Hyouka 7:35:14 PM
Speaking of cicadas, Pokemon based ones like Ninjask and Shedninja :)
Lizbot (host) 7:35:25 PM
@Randy - Wow, Wawa really IS expanding its menu!
Lizbot (host) 7:36:57 PM
@Ossy - I needed to be hospitalized from sitting on a hollowed out log that turned out to have a beehive inside and getting 16 stings on my face when I was 8. An Asian Giant Hornet would do me in!
Lizbot (host) 7:37:09 PM
this part of this song is so gnarly
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 7:37:23 PM
If you told me this was thundercat I would believe you
Lizbot (host) 7:38:45 PM
@Mark - glad you enjoyed the mic break! only saw that comment now (since I was on mic then) but scattering the brood sounds like an amazing name for an album!
Lizbot (host) 7:39:17 PM
back to the calming roach steak dinner music. BUT WAIT! Time to chase more lively bugs for your dinner
Randy Marthins 7:39:31 PM
@emeril I have a sign in my kitchen - "Punk Rock isn't dead; it's making your dinner"
Lizbot (host) 7:39:42 PM

bugs - ice cream - bugs. That is the theme tonight if there was one!
Rob from Maryland, Brood X fan 7:44:47 PM
cicada-flavored ice cream?
Ossy Hyouka 7:45:04 PM
@Lizbot My friend of a friend's dad died by an Asian Hornets sting and so sorry you had to go through all that nightmare, that's horrific:(. Beehives are scary, that look like a bird's nest and leaf balloons. My cousin who studied abroad in a boarding school in Abuja, Nigeria and everyone got attacked by a swarm of aggressive bees after some idiot cleaner messed with their beehives. The girl's side were safe, while the boys barely escaped from their wrath, but all made it safe.
Lizbot (host) 7:45:21 PM
@Addie - mmmmm. I bet it was chocolate chip classic. Love those, but partial to those Oreo cookie ice cream sammiches I used to get on the way to the community pool as a kid!
Rob from Maryland, Brood X fan 7:45:32 PM
ice cream for bugs? that almost sounds like a Captain Beefheart song title
mark 7:45:40 PM
a Princeton ice cream shop did have a brood x flavor last summer
Ossy Hyouka 7:45:48 PM
@Ossy The cleaner survived, but was in critical condition
Randy Marthins 7:46:12 PM
There should be a cicada ice cream shop on --- wait for it --- LOCUST street
Lizbot (host) 7:46:21 PM
@Rob - It really does! The long-lost unreleased tracks from Don's studio floor!
Rob from Maryland, Brood X fan 7:46:22 PM
@Lizbot, ouch!! (stung after sitting on the log)
mark 7:47:09 PM
speaking of bees, see that giant had 60k stolen from their hives this month ?
Rob from Maryland, Brood X fan 7:47:31 PM
@Ossy, I'm sorry to hear about your friend's dad
Addie Plum 🐍 7:47:35 PM
Who steals bees, and why!?
Lizbot (host) 7:48:47 PM
@Ossy - Oh nO! Look up Costa Rican banana wasps! I was there in 2018 visiting my sister in law and our outdoor shower had a nest of them! Their sting is very high on the pain scale
mark 7:49:26 PM
it’s become a bigger & lucrative crime these days bee keepers have taken to adding gps protection to their hives
Rob from Maryland, Brood X fan 7:49:47 PM
Who in their right mind would steal bees?
Ossy Hyouka 7:49:54 PM
It was my friend's friend's dad that died, but thanks so much Rob.
Lizbot (host) 7:49:58 PM
@Ossy - I kept having run-ins with dangerous insects in Costa Rica. Scorpio on my cabin steps at night, which I watched get eaten by a can toad just after I almost stepped on it!
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 7:51:02 PM
Was half asleep during a movie screening in the middle of the Arizona desert and woke up to see a strange insect crawling right in front of me, which turned out to be the arizona bark scorpion, the most venomous scorpion in north america :)
Randy Marthins 7:51:20 PM
After their release of Pollinator, Blondie had a ton of bee-themed merch; which means *I* (my wife) has a ton of bee-themed merch
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 7:52:55 PM
sorry @randy, i cant not read "(my wife)" in borat voice

Ossy Hyouka 7:53:47 PM
Damn Liz, scorpions are another venom, they look like mini lobsters with shrimp like stings. Don't get me started with snakes, especially the notorious black mamba, which my aunt used to live near them.
mark 7:55:07 PM
Bongwater does nice cover of this
Rob from Maryland, Brood X fan 7:55:18 PM
@mark, I agree
jimbeaux 7:55:24 PM
stop these amazing songs and bee talk, i am trying to WORK :)
Ossy Hyouka 7:55:26 PM
Cane Toads, I read about them, their covered by poison, which they overestimate themselves enough to get eaten by quolls and hordes of meat ants
Lizbot (host) 7:55:48 PM
@Ossy- That's so awful. I was honestly more scared in CR of the very deadly and ubiquitous fer-de-lance snakes that are drab brown there so hard to spot. Our neighbor in the Osa peninsula told us another neighbor died from that snake's bite the year before. It's hard to get to a clinic in time for antidote on those rough roads, esp during rainy season
Ossy Hyouka 7:56:02 PM
Jimbeaux - Plankton: Never, NEVER!!!!!!! Evil laughter
Lizbot (host) 7:56:24 PM

'Night all! Thanks for hanging! Enjoy your cones before they melt!
Ossy Hyouka 8:00:00 PM
How awful and so sorry that your neighbor's neighbor died by a snake. Its more treacherous to find a hospital and antidote in rural places. My aunt's dog once got blinded by one in the Enugu region of Nigeria, she can since see as of this day
Ossy Hyouka 8:00:39 PM
And great show and conversations Liz and all. Good night and take care!
