He gained great popularity in Ethiopia in the 1970s and among the Ethiopian diaspora in the 1980s. "Tizita" is a slow and nostalgic style of Ethiopian music, with origins in the countryside.

Thanks, Christine. Sonanza is one of my favorite LPs. Found it at Gino Wong's Red Records in Philly years ago. One of the tracks is part of the Stars End intro music on a formerly great station.
