He plays a custom electric upright bass, and is known for his highly distinctive tone and phrasing. Weber's compositions blend chamber jazz, European classical music, minimalism and ambient music, and are regarded as characteristic examples of the ECM Records sound. In 2007, Weber suffered a stroke and has subsequently been unable to perform. He is still releasing older recordings.

The Urdu language, if you're not familiar, is very similar to Hindi. But much more poetic and flowery. An analogy might be Victorian English to standard English.
