Roach girlfriend has a backstory- I was living in South Philly with my then boyfriend then husband in the early 2000s and my boyfriend overheard this conversation between two maybe 10 year-old-ish lboys walking on our block: Kid A: “EW! A roach!” Kid B: “Where’s it going?” Kid A: “Probably off looking for its girlfriend”

I'll look it up; it was around 2:20 or 2:25 pm.

I want that boy to release a full album as a cat vocalist. It reminds me of this Japanese show I saw that’s set in a soba shop and its customers and a woman comes in and orders “cat rice”- rice w/ bonito flakes - and then she sings like a cat

@Christina - Yeah, it’s kinda a good show to leave on when you don’t want anything too long or stressful. It’s just customers in a soba shop ordering their favorite foods with little side stories. I watched a bunch of it one time when I couldn’t sleep. 🍜🐈

Given I was planning a trip to Japan a couple years ago that had to be nixed due to Covid, I like watching that show sometimes to imagine I’m there. There’s a nice Japanese cinema verité film in Sundance film fest this week called Blood where it’s got a backstory about a widow but it’s mostly just walking around neighborhoods and shrines in Tokyo. Everyone in it is a non-actor except the lead woman. The lead man is a noise musician in Tokyo

@Ossy - Yeah, nekonomics (economic boost from putting a cat on everything!) is a big success in Japan! Even a cat station master (Tama) at one of the train stations and Cat-themed train. The station has cat ears on the roof!

@DSM- much as that would be a fun detour, my itinerary didn’t allow for it! I had a lot crammed in and a lot I wouldn’t have been able to fit- like exploring Hokkaido, for instance. They have a dog breed in Hokkaido that’s just like a shiba Inu on stilts! 🐕
