I was reading how they (XTC) were a little upset at the time that DotS releases sold better than those of XTC at the time. But then later they realized that XTC morphed into the DotS somewhat . It is part of their bloodstream I guess

@Brian D - XTC was so "alt" rock, before alt-rock was a thing.

There is a great XTC bootleg out on the net from Cherry Hill, NJ rock club early 80s. An FM broadcast from the Phila rock station . A great snapshot of their sound at the time. Saw a Go-Go's boot as well from same venue same time frame.

@Brian D - XTC quit touring so early on it's hard to find solid bootlegs, But I will ask my friend if he has it... :)

In the teen years, I saw the Rutles album (I think it was a cassette) in a Woolco store about 1981-82 (more diverse full dept store than a Woolworth but not related). I could see on the tiny tape album art that they were aping the Bee-attles lps. Eye catching. I was like, what's all this? Should've bought it then. But it took another few years til I delved into Rutlemania

for a long time i assumed it was just silly parody, and i mean it is but it's also legitimately wonderful music!

The Rutles "All You Need is Cash" is the proto mockumentary for music. A great meeting of the minds of the Python-esque and the SNL-esque.

I loved the Jungle Book LP as well.There was a great SCREAM from Bagheera on it.

My favorite scream is still for Teri Roche on Fripp's Exposure.

The Dick Van Patten and other voice actors thing was an MGM box set of vinyl fairy tales. Before I had ever heard the term box set.
