thesis is on basically NYT reporting on saturation bombing, defoliation, etc. of Nature ('ecocide') and environmental infrastructure ('environcide') of Vietnam between 1965-1971

tracking shifting/continuities in ecological thinking, nature/culture dichotomies, etc

most interesting take away is that 1965, bascially no NYT reporter even mentioned the destruction of Nature, some shifts to that in 1968, and who knows about 1971! (still have to research it...)

hi dante ironically just watched break down of Col Kilgore scene in apocalypse now last night when he wants the tree line taken down

very curious about that too @ Rob. The shift from 1965 for 1968 was not huge but a couple of reporters did first use "ecology" as a term in relation to Vietnam in 68

I definitely have to now. Only Vietnam war movies I remember seeing is Tropic Thunder (hahaha) and Forest Gump (not a vietnam movie)

I've really enjoyed quite a few correspondents books - Malcom Brown's the New Face of War is very interesting too (1965) and a pretty obscure one by Ward Just from 1968
