Wiki says: It does not play melody but rather supports and sustains the melody of another instrument or singer by providing a continuous harmonic bourdon or drone. Bourdon is a cooool word!

I would not really know the difference, and I have probably been calling tambura's sitars since forever. I will check that out a bit more. Thanks for that.

Bourdon just busted into the vernacular with a vengence. Very cool word indeed.

Discovering a new word is great. I've always promised myself the gift of the complete OED. Someday...!!

I've heard Bourdon used as the name of an organ stop, but never in that context. I plan to use it regularly, now!

They also have The Oxford Dictionary of Music that I discovered in my High School.band room. Priceless find.

I remember back in the early 1990's, after the eruption from Mt. Pinatubo, the eclipse was almost totally black because of all the dust in earth's atmosphere..

Oh wow, tonight, cool...I got a new nerdy headlamp I want to try out..

I have to go through some dark areas to get to my viewing in the clearing, so a headlamp comes in handy

One can never have enough headlamps or flashlights.

MnSchu Hey Readie! Another great show!Hey citizen and professional astronomers I'm sitting outside here in MN looking at the same moon as some of you. Question ❓. As it see it the moon is slightly north of east and up about 30 degrees off the horizon. I thought that info would stir further observations. I'm guessing it has to do with MN being West and a minor change in latitude?

Caught up at a family dinner with sister, brother in law, and niece. But at the cost of Recherché.
