Switching things up a bit with some Classical programming, hope everyone enjoys it on this Sunday morning :)
Space Cowboy 10:37:04 AM
great idea to do a little classical
nyctophiliac (host) 10:39:27 AM
for sure, giving myself a little mental relaxation too with midterms coming up !
Space Cowboy 10:40:52 AM
yeah my life is at mid term so it works both ways
nyctophiliac (host) 10:43:05 AM
That's the good thing about classical music i think, it's appeal to all audiences
kentman 10:54:36 AM
according to Wikipedia Hilary Hahn has played solo Bach pieces since she was 8yrs old. have to admire the work ethic there. that's what it takes tp play such clear notes
nyctophiliac (host) 10:55:39 AM
for sure, I've watched a lot of her performances on YouTube and you can really tell she commands her violin to do EXACTLY what she wants
nyctophiliac (host) 10:55:49 AM
always love her interpretations of pieces
kentman 10:57:21 AM
i'm guessing this is the Sibelius
nyctophiliac (host) 10:58:19 AM
Yup, third movement of his Violin concerto is playing right now
kentman 10:59:18 AM
this recording is a keeper
nyctophiliac (host) 11:00:15 AM
agree with you 100% on that!
kentman 11:09:43 AM
love the Naxos label, so much previously unrecorded work, or should I say overlooked work, and relatively inexpensive to buy
nyctophiliac (host) 11:10:54 AM
I actually haven't looked into them much, but I definitely should now that you mention that
nyctophiliac (host) 11:11:25 AM
I played Finzi's Prelude a few years ago when I was still in an orchestra so that's how I found out about that specific piece
kentman 11:14:09 AM
Deutsche Grammophon is top tier recording whereas Naxos takes a more humble approach, lesser know orchestras and ensembles
nyctophiliac (host) 11:15:32 AM
Good to know! I know a good amount of pieces from the Classical world from being in music, but as far as the production side goes I'm still new. Appreciate all the info :)
kentman 11:16:55 AM
this beautiful music for a Sunday am by the way, great selection
nyctophiliac (host) 11:17:31 AM
thank you, glad you're enjoying it as much as I am
kentman 11:19:02 AM
heading out for a drive will be listening in car as always
nyctophiliac (host) 11:19:59 AM
yup, drive safe! I've got more on the way :)
