Desert Blues, Egyptian Balady, and Romani songs inspired by Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio's Le Desert. Considered to be one of his breakthrough novels, Desert is a poetic, historically rich novel that intertwines two timelines: the 1909 migration of nomadic Berbers fleeing colonial violence, and the 1970s struggles of Lalla, a young woman descended from the same people, navigating life in Tangier and Marseille. The novel is a rich, sprawling, searching, poetic, provocative, broadly historic and demanding novel which documents the slow death of a North African culture. "They appeared as if in a dream at the top of the dune, half-hidden in the cloud of sand rising from their steps."

Eastern European bananza coming your way... from folk to rock, we walk the traditional carpet covered path, that same carpet you saw at your Russian grandma's apartment when you visited as a kid. Oh, those grungy songs your dad used to play in the car from his cassette tapes and CD's. The voices that soar and drop and resonate the strings in you like a piano. Those memories from waking up with the sun on a hot summer day, when the morning dawn is fresh and the bees are mingling in their hives on your grandparents Polish farm. Don't forget.

Totally different and completely the same. First hour dedicated to European disco of the 70s and 80s. Second hour is Brit Pop beyond Blur and Oasis. It is generally accepted that the Britpop of the 90s was an overcoming of the obvious crisis of ideas in pop music of the early 90s, an overcoming by rethinking the great legacy of the Beatles. However, it was not only England that was strangled by nostalgia for popular music with an intelligent human face, for melody and meaningfulness. The secnd hour will be devoted to the mid-90s, bypassing the well-known leaders Blur and Oasis, and we will start with the Swedish Cardigans, who independently resurrected the traditions of the 60s in the same 1994, which is considered the beginning of Britpop in England.

You doze off into the deep void and dissolve into the iridescent memories of your childhood. If you are lucky, or perhaps, terribly unlucky to have been born in the soviet union or Russia, your ears were blessed with soviet filmography compositions, those sweet sparkly gems that bloomed despite the despotic and opressive rule. Those melodies tell of dream and labour, great feats and human heroism. This show is curated by dad. I love you dad <3
